Another epic Argali film. What an adventure, I cant believe how many encounters you had/captured, has me super pumped to head up the mountain in a few days!
Nice! I have a few broad heads in trees and stumps a couple from misses but more than one from blow throughs. Great job Brad it looked like a fun hunt for sure !
Man - made my night seeing this pop up on my feed. I’m Colorado bound in 4 weeks from today. Been training all year (per usual). Rest assured, Mr. Brad - my Argali 4 person will be housing my buddy and me, and my Serac will be close at hand should the Good Lord give us a bugling wink! You’re my top guy to emulate in the elk woods - so deliberate and so patient. Thoroughly soak in all your work. :).
I will take a 'raghorn' any day over a monster bull, some of the very best meat on the planet!! That meat will absolutely melt in your mouth, and that is a nice set of antlers to hang on any office wall, dark brown, some of the best colored antlers come from our great state of Wyoming, and the best meat of all!!
What a first day and way to capitalize on a great opportunity that came in hot and fast! Did you guys take a meant load when you went back for the Llamas?
@Argali I saw that nasty spot but didn't see a quarter go out when it cut to the Llama trek back! Great to know and cannot wait for season 2023 to start!!! Good luck this year!
At ~4:26 you can see a large, mature bull move through the woods over the right side (left shoulder) of Brad. I think they stopped bugling because they saw you ;)
Funny story, we never noticed that bull until you pointed it out. But that actually wasnt the bull we were calling to. that was a another bull that came in silent. Thanks for the sharp eye!
I am renting two llamas this year for a wilderness elk hunt. Any llama tips? My plan is to debone the rear quarters and take 2 trips to pack them out. Will be in anywhere from 2 to 8 miles. What caused the llamas to take the tumble?
We've used them for many years and the biggest thing you can do is make sure you're getting good pack stock from a reputable place. aside from that, packing them properly, keeping pack saddles appropriately tight, even weight on paniers, etc is important. The spill was caused by a young llama that got jumpy on a narrow trail and then dragged the other llama with him. A seasoned llama wouldn't have had issues.
Great vid as always, Brad! I’m curious what you typically have in your pack when you’re hiking/hunting during the day? Can’t wait to use my Argali gear (trekking poles, Serac knife, belt and game bags) on deer/bear/moose hunts this Fall.
Much appreciated! But this video was a team effort over here. I usually just carry some clothes, food for the day, water, game bags, knife, gloves, etc.
Great work fellas, enjoyed the ride! Anyone know the name of that small-leaf ground cover vegetation prominent in many of the shots, including right where the bull piled up? I see it in parts of Idaho also. Thanks!
Update: believe that's Grouse Whortleberry. It often grows in combination with huckleberry bushes. It's a dwarf shrub that grows under evergreen forests throughout the Rockies. It's related to huckleberries and produces a small berry that grouse feed on.
Great video, except for two things. We didn't see the elk at the shot, I'd much rather see the elk, than the elk hunter, and the Llama wreck wasn't recorded. Both rather key elements, IMO. Congrats on a great DYI hunt!
really wish we had the llama wreck on camera but it was a surprise when it happened and the camera wasnt rolling! And agreed on the elk shot. Was just an unfortunate setup.
I dont understand why on most all your films u keep it a secret as to what state you are hunting and will never mention the state in your videos especially when u are hunting ur own state of Idaho, but when u come over here to my state you make sure n tell ur entire platform u are hunting Wyoming... I dont agree with that at all, but oh well because fortunately for us Natives you NRs are really starting to have a tough time drawing tags here, so u most likely wont even draw another general here for 4-6 years
Great film!!
thank you!
Great video.
Great film!! Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Your “rag horn” would be my trophy 😂. Great video. Congratulations on a nice bull.
ha! All relative
Great film Brad
Elk season here in BC IN 11 days yee-haa Kootenay Elk hunting is probably the BEST on earth can’t wait boys
Great video, nerves of steel this guy!! Nice bull!!

Outstanding video...as always
Meat is meat. Good job.
Incredible video.
There was no movement at all in you're draw. It was beautiful just perfect.

So cool
Nice! I have a few broad heads in trees and stumps a couple from misses but more than one from blow throughs. Great job Brad it looked like a fun hunt for sure !
Nice little souvenir to leave in the elk woods.
Nice video. I packed in with Llamas for elk once. Got no elk, saw few but lots of wolves. The Llamas were very impressive even with no trail.
they can definitely help a guy when its time to pack.

agree on all fronts!
Got me psyched for elk season and I'm not even hunting elk in September, lol.
How many years did it take to draw the unit?
Great vid. Cool hunt. Llamas easier to use then horses. But i love my horses. Congrats.
Well, on this hunt they were a pain! Wish we would have caught the video of them rolling down the mountain. Thought for sure they were dead.
Brad, That's awesome and gets me stoked up for my hunt just a few weeks away. Thanks for producing and sharing your hunt vids!
Good luck!
What a first day and way to capitalize on a great opportunity that came in hot and fast! Did you guys take a meant load when you went back for the Llamas?
We did. The elk dies in a nasty spot and we ended up having to pack the meat a ways to a place we could get the llamas to.
@Argali I saw that nasty spot but didn't see a quarter go out when it cut to the Llama trek back! Great to know and cannot wait for season 2023 to start!!! Good luck this year!
What did you use to cover the elk skull walking out?
That was a prototype game bag of ours in a random color. More on that soon!
At ~4:26 you can see a large, mature bull move through the woods over the right side (left shoulder) of Brad.

Hard to see on a phone. Pretty clear on a TV. Helps if you are streaming the highest quality video.
Funny story, we never noticed that bull until you pointed it out. But that actually wasnt the bull we were calling to. that was a another bull that came in silent. Thanks for the sharp eye!
@@ArgaliI am sure I miss stuff in the woods all the time. That's part of the joy. Fun to see such a moment captured on camera.
Day six arrows are awesome
Ive killed A lot of Elk... Ive never called a 5x6 a "rag" horn.. that is a branch antler bull.. maybe not a giant, but a nice bull! congrats

Brad what broadheads were you using and what watch is that?
Days Six Evo 100g

where does one find the llamas for rent. did you use an outfitter?
Did not use an outfitter. there are a lot of places that rent llamas but these were a friend's stock we used.
Great work fellas, enjoyed the ride! Anyone know the name of that small-leaf ground cover vegetation prominent in many of the shots, including right where the bull piled up? I see it in parts of Idaho also. Thanks!
good question! wish we knew the answer
Update: believe that's Grouse Whortleberry. It often grows in combination with huckleberry bushes. It's a dwarf shrub that grows under evergreen forests throughout the Rockies. It's related to huckleberries and produces a small berry that grouse feed on.
Yes yes yes that's it! I've always just called it ground huckleberry but knew that wasn't quite right. Love it thanks@@Argali!
Your definition of raghorns is different than mine!
Hahaha suppose it is in the eye of the beholder
Great video, except for two things. We didn't see the elk at the shot, I'd much rather see the elk, than the elk hunter, and the Llama wreck wasn't recorded. Both rather key elements, IMO. Congrats on a great DYI hunt!

I can't get enough of archery elk hunting video, BUT IF YOU'RE GOING TO WHISPER, ADD SUBTITLES.! GEEEZ.
fair point! We will work on that next time.
I always say you can’t eat the horns
10:34 And what happened there............?
That bull hung up at 70 yards and wouldnt come any further
@@Argali , yeah. There's a big gap in the footage. Set me back a little. 😁
Только тот, кто охотился на изюбря, знает, какой это тяжёлый труд
Your camera guy needs to show more of the actual hunting, than just the hunter.
Could definitely do away with the piano music but other than that great video
Seems like all the recent elk hunting videos on TH-cam aren’t filming the animal during the shot…I’d rather watch that than the archer
We tried to get the elk coming in but it was so thick just couldn't see it.
Turn that damn music down !!
noted!

All that for a rag horn lol
Another cameraman 💩 the bed at the moment of truth 🙄
