Fatty Liver - Common Causes and Treatment

  • The liver starts to deposit fat when too many toxins filter through it. This is known as fatty liver disease. The first sign you may get that you are developing this condition is elevated liver enzymes which shows up on blood work. If you don’t address it early on, it could develop into fibrosis, where the liver cells become scarred, or cirrhosis of the liver where the liver has a hard time functioning. Or worse could happen: you could develop liver cancer.
The good news is that the liver is very good at regenerating itself, especially if you stop the offending foods or beverages, and learn ways to clean out the liver, cool down the heat which happens when it holds onto too many chemical toxins and becomes inflamed, and how to actually regenerate liver cells.
There are two types of fatty liver disease, one which comes from drinking too much alcohol, and the other which doesn’t involve drinking alcohol at all, which is known as Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). In the first case, we know that it is the alcohol which is responsible for creating the liver damage. But the underlying causes of NAFLD are somewhat murky. This video will outline the most common causes of NAFLD and discuss ways to improve your liver function, returning elevated liver enzymes back to normal and actually reversing fatty liver disease, whether from drinking alcohol or not.
You will learn why even vegetarians who are slim, cook their own homemade food fresh from scratch every day, and avoid processed foods may still develop fatty liver disease.
Learn how to take good care of your liver. It’s considered the most important organ in the body, since it has over 500 functions and keeps the blood clean for proper brain function. It’s easy to do and you will be amazed at how well you feel once your liver is back on track.

How about Olive Oil and Avocado Oil? I use them both but now I’m worried…

They are not seed oils. Canola & vegetable oil .

Both are fine. Just try to get single origin EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil. Single origin is less likely to have cheap filler (seed) oils. And I also only buy it in tinted glass. Notice seed oils are sold in plastic!
Avocado oil has quite a high smoke point so use it for cooking. I use coconut oil, ghee, grass-fed butter, tallow, EVOO and avocado oil most days.

Those two are fruit oils and better for you than seed oils. But there have been reports that companies are mixing them with seed oils to make more profits. Best to use a grass fed butter or even better to use organic grass fed ghee. It has a butter taste, can be used at high heat, and has the most vitamin K2 (mk4). It's also easier on the stomach for those who have issues with butter.

Some time ago, I came across an article about the differences in the way men and women's bodies react to or metabolize various medications. One of the things that really stood out for me was the commentary on acetaminophen/paracetamol. It was said that women metabolize acetaminophen more slowly than men do, and that it could take a full 24 hours for women to metabolize a single 325 mg dose of acetaminophen. So this would have potential implications on liver health for women who were taking higher and/or multiple doses a day for pain management or other reasons, like fever, but chronic pain management could take a serious toll on the liver if just one 325 mg dose takes that long to clear the body. If it's causing incremental liver damage, the liver would become increasingly inefficient at metabolizing the drug and people might not be aware of the damage until it was severe.

Palm Oil is made from the fruit of the palm oil tree. It is not a seed oil, and only 10% polyunsaturated, with saturated being 50%. The unprocessed form is rich in carotene, known for health benefits.

This is quite helpful. I cut out most vegetable oils several years ago, but did not realize it was responsible for fatty liver. I've was using coconut oil, but transitioned to ghee for cooking. I can also concur on the danger of acetaminophen; I used for severe pain for a couple weeks, and my liver scores went way out of normal. Fortunately my liver scores returned to normal once I stopped taking it. I do wonder if butter from grass-fed cows is as good for cooking as ghee. Ghee from grass fed cows is not always easy to find.

I was diagnosed with NAFLD two years ago. After doing some research, I discovered that a drug I took for 5 years (after breast cancer surgery/radiation) could be the culprit - Tamoxifen.

absolutely..I had the same results after extensive meds for TB (a neighbour went to Thailand and gave it to me as we chatted)..I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and caught it unknowingly...I was on many drugs for that including methotrexate etc. I felt liver pain but my doctors insisted I continue, as I was 'dangerous' to the community..I now have NAFLD with fibrosis, I'm only 50, and saw my sweet mother and aunt die within the last three years of the same thing (both worked in factories with toxic dye and ammonia products)...horrible, painful way to go.

Do you have any previous videos mentioning concerns with lectins? So much is made of them these days it seems and they are apparently abundant in squashes? I want to eat squashes and cook with them properly. Any information on cooking them available on the Internet would be appreciated.
