Yes. You are totally right. Our body is the vehicle we get to experience life - the better it feels the better life gets (at least that's what I've found!)
Yes - living life at any extreme can be harmful. My whole mantra is to "love yourself healthy"...keep nourishing yourself with good food and good thoughts.
It's truly awesome to have lost 5 lbs!!! Now, you just need to keep going!! Consistency is your best friend when it comes to permanent weight loss. It's slower than you want it to be...I know...but focus on one day at a time and making the best choices for you to reach your goal and you'll get there!!
placid renegade in reality you lost more because that 5 pounds that you lost is a lot because the rest went into muscle so I would say at least 20 pounds of fat you got rid of
A lot of people lose weight really quickly after changing how they eat most of this is water weight but a good portion is still fat. One pound of fat is so much so you should feel great about it still.
Thank you! I started at 138.9 and lost 2 pounds and am now 136.4 in 1 month and am so proud of myself. I definitely see the change Thanks for making this video. When I searched this was exactly what I needed lol
I'm 42, and weighed 237 lbs, the heaviest I have ever been. I cut my calorie intake down to about 1800-2000 per day, and I started working out 6 days per week for an hour (high intensity cardio, 80% of max heart rate). I've lost about 15 lbs in 3 weeks. My goal was to lose 30 lbs in 90 days, and I think I'm going to make it pretty easily.
Hey there - sounds like you're making some big changes in your lifestyle (eating and working out) - just remember that the biggest drops on the scale happen in the first few weeks. Don't get discouraged if you see the amount of weight lost per week slow down...fat loss takes time...just keep going!
I restricted my calories to 1200 per day and was very careful with what I ate. As a general rule I do not eat foods that contain more than 4-5g of fat per 100g. I also exercised most days at the gym.
It's possible to see a drop of 9lbs on a scale - it's not pure fat loss. I have no idea at what weight that person started at, their body composition, their height or their gender -- all of which will influence the amount of weight they're able to lose in a healthy way. What I do know is that anybody trying to make changes to their lifestyle by eating well and exercising deserves support, acknowledgment of their efforts and encouragement.
The visuals are so impactful! I’ve been eating more healthy and incorporating exercise everyday, and I’ve lost 15lbs in the last three weeks. Seeing what 15lbs LOOKS like is such a motivator!
Thanks for sharing Jennifer - I lost 4lbs recently and I was thinking to myself that it wasn't that much, but I really should celebrate any loss or success, no matter how little or small you may seem to think it is xx
This is so helpful..to actually see what 5lbs looks like in fat. It is easy to feel you're not actually achieving anything when a pound seems so little. I was feeling fed up that I'd only lost 7lbs since Xmas but having seen this, I see the difference!
I started my journey 3 months ago and ive almost lost 20 pounds every now and then i come back to this video to take in my success anybody else that is on there journey just remember patience is key and that hard work always pays off and i hope you all the best on your journey to health and fitness God bless 🙂🙂🙂
I also lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks , what i do is i burn 1200 calories on treadmill, after that i lift weights and i cut my calories intake to 1500 every day. 3,500 calories =1 pound of fat, so doing this i lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks.
People should also remember that what you lose when you lose weight super quickly is often more water than fat. A clear example is the Ducan diet. Water is important for your body, and you'll gain it all back when you go back to a more equilibrate way of eating. Getting rid of fat takes time and effort, but you'll notice visible changes in your shape and looks, way more important than the numbers on a scale.
YOu are doing AMAZING!!! 5lbs is a huge loss and you need to remember that when you lose it slowly and you create a lifestyle around food (instead of dieting) you're way more likely to keep the weight off!!! Great job!!

This is so inspiring, it motivates me to keep going. I have lost 11 lbs since November 2019. Not as much as I wanted to lose, I let myself cheat somedays but I am proud of myself. I didn’t think losing even losing 5 lbs was ever going to happen. Don’t give up!!!
Today I just found out I lost 5lbs in almost a month! I’m sure its not all fat but I’m at least hoping its at least 3lbs of fat lol. I still have a long way to go, but its nice to see this type of video to put each pound into perspective!
I was eating a LOT of ice cream and basically whatever tf I wanted. I just stopped. Started doing fasted cardio, fasting, and proportion control. And I’m rapidly losing weight.
It's good to see what 5lbs looks like, seeing that I've lost 10 times that amount in 6 months. She is right...it takes patience and determination, and for me this is the 1st time I've managed to succeed in losing weight in my life. Not finished yet though, and I've never been so determined in my life.
I lost about 20 pounds (aka 10 kg) and seeing this makes me so aware of how much it actually is. It's crazy! I hope my sprained ankle will be all good to go soon so I can go on walks again. Already changed my diet, it's not the best but so much better then before. 60 pounds to go! :D

As you said it takes time and patience and discipline and you'll get there.
Thank thank you so much for this video just seeing that amount of fat and knowing If i lost 5 pounds that how much that is...I am not going to take that lightly anymore that's mind-blowing the amount of fat you have sitting on that counter
Hiya! You are so welcome...I find that it's so easy to get impatient with weight loss and not recognize all of the wins. You can do this...all it takes is being consistent and believing that you can!!!
Maintaining a diet of 1500 calories a day and running an hour in the morning n a hour in the afternoon can get you to lose a pound a day. I do this on monday, Wednesday,Fridays n sat n Sundays. Plus i fast until 3pm. In order to keep losing weight like this you must refeed every 4 days. Refeeding is giving ur body more carbs and calories than usual so what i do is eat q bunch of wings n pizza on my reffed days. I never gain any weight from my refeed days cuz the fasting helps fully metabolize the food.
Don't ever give weight loss advice again. You are just starving your body and making your metabolism slow. This isn't healthy and will cause kidney, liver and heart damage by binge eating.
+DonTHEhandsome1 It's called intermittent fasting, and It's a healthy tool to properly loose weight. This method has been performed by Hugh Jackman, the Hodgetwins and many other people. Eating 1500 calories .will definitely make you loose weight. If you don't know anything about weight loss please don't bother telling me about not giving weightloss advice. Our ancestors did intermittent fasting all the time, look it up.
+Josie G This approach simply doesn't work for a lot of people. Many busy, working moms don't have an hour a day to exercise ~ and when you are looking after a family this kind of schedule is often too complicated. Glad it works for you though.
Josie, just eat less. That easy. Go online, find a calorie calculator, and be honest on it (running errands does not count as highly active, in fact, shuffling kids along to drive them to and from is closer to sedentary in all honesty as far as caloric exertion goes) and it will tell you what your maintenance caloric intake is. That's your calories to stay the same weight. Drop this by 500 a day and you lose a pound a week. Drop it by 1000 calories, and that's 2 pounds a week. Don't go lower than that or you risk hitting some dangers. It's that easy. People love excuses, love em, but the truth is really simple.
And DonTHEhandsome, you're out of your fucking head. 1500 calories is not starvation, and will not slow your metabolism down by any real amount. People act like your metabolism fluctuates wildly based on how much you eat, and that's a myth. It comes from the old Minnesota Starvation study that has been discredited (it takes months of people WITHOUT fat stores taking in less than 50% their caloric intake for starvation mode to set in). It's all 'fatlogic' that people try to spread to give themselves a reason not to eat less.
I lost 15lbs so far into my diet. Its only been 8 days. I know the first week is always drastic due to water weight because of your body using up the glycogen in your body. So I have remained the same weight the last 2 days. So now I think my body will begin to turn toward fat and I should start losing ACTUAL full lbs of fat weekly.
I’d love to lose those 5 -10 pounds in the next couple of months! That would be awesome! Just need to get back on track again 🙈 this year has been physically quite unhealthy ...
This video was amazing!! Thank you so much :) I've lost 11 pounds in the first 4 weeks. I use to think it was slow progress, but you're absolutely right, thank you for reminding me this is the healthy way!
I've been averaging 12 pounds of fat loss per month. Yes, this is based on a caliper, I have been estimating about 0.5-1 lb of lean body mass increase per week. 5 pounds a month of fat loss is about right if you never incorporate fasting, but if you do intermittent fasting, fat loss will happen at a much greater rate.
Ayy I lost 20lbs in the last 2 months. I renewed my license with my goal weight on it 👀 now I'm obligated to reach that weight. Started at 244 and I'm on my way to 170
I definitely needed to see and hear this because I lost 8 pounds in a month and it definitely doesn’t physically look like I’ve done anything. (At least not in my eyes) . I have such a big goal to achieve because I feel like I shouldn’t weigh this much at the height and age that I am today . I just want to be,feel, and look good!
Good video.. My eating habits were so bad that when I finally decided to make drastic changes I averaged 5 lbs lost a week for the first month. I guess it depends on how out of control you are at the beginning.
I've lost 103 pounds on my journey from 257 to 154 and it was the best decision I have ever gone for 😀

Most of y’all are losing water weight if you think you actually lost 5lbs in a week
Yes but even so it motivates you to carry on. Worked for me.
Yup
Well it has been 14 days today since i started exercising and i lost exectly 2 pound and was very disappointed by myself but hearing her makes me feel proud of my self like i feel motivated 🤗 thank you soo much ❤️
Honestly that’s not bad since it considered healthy to lose a pound of fat a week.
I've lost almost 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks or so. I've got a long way to go, my goal is to lose about 45 more pounds. This really motivates me to keep going
You got this!
What did you do to lose all these pounds
6'1 male I'm down to 186 from 200. Came here to get some kind of idea on how much further I need to go (my goal is to cut fat right now and then put on clean muscle for a target of 190lbs) wow! 5lbs of fat is alot! I don't think I have that much further to go 🤔
This is so inspiring, it motivates me to keep going.
Amanda - Happy New Year!! I hope you are rocking your weight loss journey!!!
@@JenniferPowter Thank you ( still going).....and same to you.
Should have melted the butter down so it was a solid mass. If you got rid of the air pockets that huge blob gets alot smaller.
i lost 9lbs in 7 days doing great
So this is why I feel tones of different just by losing 5 pound.
yes - it really makes a difference!
@@JenniferPowter I also felt tones of difference by gaining 5 pound again
A gallon of fat is 6.7 lbs. I like to imagine my weight loss as 1 gallon water jugs. So far I am up to 5 gallons, half way to my goal.
Thanks for this video I'm down 12 pounds this month and this makes me want to keep going. I didn't lose last week but this week lost 4 pounds.
I’m really proud of my self I lost 14 pounds
Yes, and I should be focused on the journey. Not about having a challenging goal.
Great video. I’m about 70 pounds over weight and now borderline pre diabetic. I’ve been trying to loose weight for so long just hasn’t been able to.
Such a beautiful video. Thank you :) I won't quit.
I lost 10lbs in 1 month. And honestly I see a change. I hope I keep losing weight.
She's so right, thanks for the motivation.
This video was what I needed to kickstart a diet! Thank you so much
That's awesome Mitch!
196 to 188 and still loosing. My goal another 10
I lost 7 pounds this week. With diet and exercise
How many callories and carbs intake per day you been lose fat so fast!
Great video Thank you Jennifer. I have been there. Straight indoor training last 4 years. Body weight from 240 lb 182 now. waist size from 40 to 32".Age 52 and i can easily ran straight 11 miles and average 14 minutes every mile. As you said it takes time and patience and discipline and you'll get there.
This was a great way to put into perspective what losing a pound of fat really looks like.
So glad!!!
Thank you and you made me feel better lost 45 got 100 to go God bless ChristS love
I gonna fit into my 20 years old gear why I eat clean no junk and love working out
In 2018, I went from 313 lbs to 199 lbs.
Today is my 10th day since I started and I have lost 11 pounds.
Most of that was water
I’d love to lose those 5 -10 pounds in the next couple of months! That would be awesome! Just need to get back on track again 🙈 this year has been physically quite unhealthy ...
Hey Nicole - I'd love to send you a copy of my book! Find me on FB and send me a direct message with your address!
@@JenniferPowter hi Jennifer! Sorry I just saw your message! Thank you for your offer :)
This video was amazing!! Thank you so much :) I've lost 11 pounds in the first 4 weeks. I use to think it was slow progress, but you're absolutely right, thank you for reminding me this is the healthy way!
But how do you know it’s not a water weight?
When she placed the butter on the table, I gor hungry and ate a box of biscuits.
I just started it I think I'm in my 3rd week. I have only averaged a half pound extra than usual in 2 weeks :/ I thought I would see a little more.
Great explanation ! Awesome informative video , good narrative, and lots of butter fat in there ;) Thanks for the info !
Heyyy! Thanks Raul :)
I lost 5 lbs on a 3 day (sparkling) water fast. The stubborn midsection fat melting away and I think the fast healed some other issues too.
this video was really encouraging. thanx
You're welcome!! Keep it up! Keep going! Consistency is everything :)
so motivating!
So glad! I hope this past month has been awesome for you!
Ayy I lost 20lbs in the last 2 months. I renewed my license with my goal weight on it 👀 now I'm obligated to reach that weight.
Started at 244 and I'm on my way to 170
You are awesome, you kept me going . Thank you
I lost 10 pounds in a week. That was my first week I started dieting and working out every day.
I love you! Thanks for the amazing video!
I’ve lost 15 pounds and even that feels good man, I can even wear jeans I haven’t worn in years holy wow
BEST feeling ever -- Slipping on a pair of jeans when they come out of the dryer and the FIT!!! Nice work!
thank you so much for the motivation! it means a lot to me😊
You are SO welcome :)
Good video.. My eating habits were so bad that when I finally decided to make drastic changes I averaged 5 lbs lost a week for the first month. I guess it depends on how out of control you are at the beginning.
