    Ye who runs needlessly.

This theme is suitably trippy. The "dancing" flowers add to that feeling IMO.

That moment when you see an entire section of the comments consist of a single back and forth.

The way that the song is broken up into different segments along with the repeating bass line is evocative of the structure of the area itself. Wonder if that was intentional. It's an excellent composition either way.

the bassline is so talking heads esque lol
i wonder what kind of music outside vidya naramura and samejima are into, their compositions belie a unique vitality that you don't see all that often

I can totally imagine myself dancing to this, and pointing in eight directions sequentially with the beat.

This is one of my favorite dungeon tracks in La-Mulana, simply because it's SO FRIGGIN CATCHY!!

I just heard the Version 0, er, version of this track. It's an epic techno remix that makes me think of Mortal Kombat on 'shrooms.

@1andonlyWojjan Better yet, get the La-Mulana Jukebox, and put it on infinite play.

The hopping blue guys are hopping corpses from Chinese lore. The size-changing headless horses have a Chinese-sounding name but I can't find a source for them. The others...I really have no idea.

What does everyone think about this song's remake? I just happened to listen to this track quite randomly, so I looked it up on TH-cam, and the first result I got was actually of the remake. I must say, THAT is how remakes should be done. The remake excellently captures everything that the original conveys, just with more advanced sound bites and instrumentation. Oftentimes I am absolutely displeased with remakes of songs (like in remakes of games like Pokemon Gold or Cave Story) because the original gets so lost in translation in an attempt to take advantage of the higher technological capabilities, but then the original gets so muddled up and I end up disliking it. This song's remake, however, captures its essence so well.

i don't know, i like the simpler sounds, they feel more powerful in this version. Sure, the other one has better sound quality, but i like this one more regardless cause i feel more power behind the instruments

I agree very much! Both of these soundtracks are a blast to listen to, the remake captures the feel and the power behind the beats. And I felt the exact same way about the re-arrangement of HGSS and Cave Story Wii (Not +, CS+ was actually kinda cool), Violet City theme, one of my absolute favourites, was ruined. It tried its own thing and it didn't work, same with pretty much all of CSWii soundtracks (Like, why did they make them even simpler?)

Something the dumb world overlooks since u mention pokemon and such; why the heck do remake/ sequels and tech advancements change the beautiful solid soundscape? Take pokemon silver the original, when u take poison damage or any tackle hit etc. the sound was much more sharp and solid felt strong or hyperbeam sound was strong and colors were more saturated and rich. Now it just keeps fading hyperbeam became like a the sound of a gentle breeze and looks way gentler. La Mulana i must admit still fell slightly onto this sickness however not that deep like others as u mentioned so that's a relief.

To me, chiptunes are more catchy, and instrumentals have "better" sound quality.
Personally I tend to prefer the original chiptunes. Newer audiences probably prefer refined instrumental versions.

@@gaymothaunt No, those are the hopping corpses. I'm talking about the size-changing headless horses.

This may not be the best version (the SC-88 version wins by a landslide), but this version is still pretty catchy.

Honestly every version of Primitive Dance is pretty damn fantastic ngl. Just an absolute banger of a song. That said, I do have to disagree, the SC-88 version is the one that feels weakest to me, but it's got its really interesting bits and pieces. You can really see where the remake's version of the song evolved out of the SC-88 version though

    • @treehann
      @treehann 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

The SC-88 version is fine, the instrumentation is cool, however, in the SSCC version the mix is much tighter. For example in this one you can actually hear the bass. I also think the melodies are richer in the SSCC version, and I prefer it highly.

Not as good; there are a few subtle changes that either make the beat less potent or make the track as a whole less awesome.
