the best part was when I first entered this area from the 8-bit ruins, I kept falling in the dark until Lemeza fell right on his back exactly in front of the entrance, then the lights turned on and the music started playing with Lemeza on the floor.
I remember a statue of the mother throwed her shield at me and walked away without elaboration. The shield was supposed to kill me yet it left me with only 1 hp.
This area is a bit annoying, and the music very dramatic for what's essentially a climb through a bizarre set of plumbing, very tall ancient towers that were meant to be water-powered rockets, and a background full of... Fuzzy-screened televisions? And on top of all of that, I can't tell whether or not this area is supposed to be the Back Side of the Surface or the Spring of the Heavens. I would welcome an answer for all the questions I have!
It's the backside of the Spring in the Sky; if you look at the icon for the doors to it from the tower of ruin/gate of illusion/graveyard of the giants, you'll notice the icon is the Spring in the Sky's icon mirrored, like all the other backsides.
I guess it depends on when you entered this area. For me I barely knew much about the back side of the ruins, so to encounter this completely alien like area for the first time after being used to the ancient architecture along with the music playing just sold me “yeah there’s much more to this than you think”
Huh, I’ve been replaying the game and was surprised how long it took to get to this place, I seriously thought you got here after defeating the boss in spring in the sky area. Maybe the amount of time I got lost on my first run warped my sense of time.

This was the moment la mulana really became one of my favorite games I've ever played
This is my favorite from the back side areas! There's something with the visuals and this track that I can't describe, but it works really well!

This theme to me combined with the intro to the level always makes me think "Alright, this is when it gets real"
This and Gate of Guidance are probably my favorite area tracks

that and plus look at the maps for both spring in the sky and tower of the goddess. They are ALMOST identical.
