Christopher Chisolm They pick up so so much power from cams. I had a small turbo upgrade with hks cams 272/272 and it would pull on cars with larger frame turbos with stock cams
Uhm, just a thought: If you had left the plugs out, and cranked the engine with the starter, you could pre-fill the lash units, and get most of the lash out before starting the engine.
Same style of hydraulic lash adjusters on some Isuzu V6 engines. They take a LONG time to fill up once emptied. You should prime with cranking then let it run for at least a couple minutes.
Yeah, cranking the engine with a starter like that is a good idea after reassembly. Some more industrial engines have systems to bring up oil pressure before the crankshaft is allowed to spin, with external oil pumps or pressurized reservoirs similar to the Accusump that some engine builders use on cars.
Nissan SR's also share a very similar HLA or lifter. I was screaming internally when they were bleeding and didn't refill them with oil on the bench! SR life for me is Bleeding out what you can dry, then put them in some kero and bleed them in that and watch so much more gunk come out! A little trick used in the states for cleaning lifters is to put some diesel or atf in the oil, get it up to operating temperature drain the oil and fill with new oil. A lot of the time it is enough to clean lifters. With V-6/V-8 engines with the cam in the block lifters cannot be pulled unless the engine is upside down (not LS engines) and then pull out the camshaft.
an old session but one I got directed to. You guys so could of done with a strong telescopic magnet in this episode. Its a major player in the old tool box and a game changer!. cool series guys
My rule of thumb is, if you've got the old parts out and you already have the new parts on hand, there's no reason to put the old parts back in instead of the new parts.
Well, that was my idea when I had to refit and reprogram an ECU for my SAAB, which was refusing to turn over. I did that and, as you do, picked up new plugs, coils, replacement Ion Module and Crank Angle sensor. Car now turned over but wouldn't fire. Got it platformed to a shop, it turned out the new Crank Angle sensor, although identical to the old one in every possible way (same length, bolt pattern, weight, connector) would not send signal because it was 0.12 Ohm more resistant (the shop had a guy who ended up testing all the ECU and Fuse Box pins, the injectors, etc.). I hadn't thrown out the old parts yet, they were in a box in the trunk, we put the old sensor in and the car started immediately, after having sat for 9 Months while I tried to find a replacement ECU and figure out how to reprogram it. And the sensors were both the same Bosch OEM Part Numbers, so it made even less sense to me why they wouldn't be compatible...
I think the discussion here was that they felt the parts that were already in the car were a superior design. Replacing them could potentially add a weak point of the overall part is worse even though it is newer.
Been there done that... multiple times lol. Owned an eclipse as my first car. I still have 2 full spare sets of lash adjusters in my garage😆 take yours apart and deep clean them and use the new ones its the classic 4g63 tick Also i used to have a clear timing belt cover. They are sweet for a hundred or so miles and then they get dirty and nasty lol

Love the build, keep it up, Love from Norway
Kristoffer Olsen It should be done all the time for any car
I know you don't do this format that often but honestly. I love the RAW type of format for this. Makes it seem more real and less edited and staged lol :) But of course leave some mile marker times in the description so people can skip to important bits. Helps please both crowds.
"...i like a charred carrot..." bahahaha. Leave it to Moog for the MOST random comments. Loving these vids guys!
loving the show, you men at work. feel so old school MCM.days.BIG UP form Jamaica .W.i.
*_1:08_**_ rear quarter panel reflection_*
someone was going to walk in was like _"oops they're recording nvm"_
Found you guys from your episode on Roadkill and so glad I did. Now I have twice the hacked up car content! Cheers guys!
these minimal editing videos are great to watch at work!!!
Now that's a long shit
Why upload it at 9am, like now I definitely will get nothing done this morning at work..........
Why upload it at 2:30am
12:30am
Because its 7 P.M.
Because its was 6pm where I'm from! Beer:30 !!
11pm where I am, I don’t like sleeping anyway 😂
22:40 you forgot your own rule!!
FIRST - JACK UP YOUR CAR!
The car should have already been in the air!
Throwback to the Recaro seat install vid XD
I love Tommi Mäkinen called in this video as Finnish guy❤ Greets from Finland. I love all of your videos all the way from beginning. 👌
This is what I like about your show - it's just like working in my home garage. No idea what I'm doing, learn as I go from books and videos and figuring it out. When I break it, I pick up the pieces.
I appreciate that a lot of fans have asked for longer videos, but editing can make the video much more entertaining without dragging. I skipped through this in about 20 minutes.
What ever happened to that MR2 you were hinting at in the live Unicorn Circuit at Super Cheap Auto like a year ago?
Guess you know now lol
did Moog just "drop it like it's hot" on the Damn Jack? 😅🔥😅🔥
Pretty sure the Ticking is the injectors. Happens a lot with 2.0L engines. Or timing Chain tensioners.
These run a timing belt
I like the usual, polished content with VOs and cutaways, but I love me an hour of Disrespected Nose! Nice one, boys. Shame the ticking sounded exactly the same (through the TV) as before you started!
One of those telescoping magnetic tipped tools is really useful to get spark plugs and bits of car parts out of hard to reach places.
Hey guys, nice work solving the tik tik. Love the disrespected nose style! We are looking forward to the dyno numbers and the future of TOO3VO!
Wagons are sweet just picked up avant wagon the quattro is a beast especilly in snow and here in canada we get a crap load of it but evo wagon!
I was craving some MCM earlier today. Good timing!
I found this very, very calming and pleasant to watch.
Please continue to post long video's like this. I put them on in the background while driving long distances and I love it. A bit like an informative, friendly podcast with visual support! :D
You guys are awesome! Keep it up! So many people love your vids in the UK
Another way to rotate the engine is to stick it in gear, and gently roll the car. My grandfather used to do it that way when adjusting valves. Might be some agrument to that method but he was a mechanic for 30 years.
And you can do that solo.
@@JGnLAU8OAWF6 Forgot to mention that it only works with a manual. Also it is more fun when working on car with friend(s).
This is turning into an ASMR channel. These cuts are weird
I wonder if Moog and Marty have seen the videos where some dudes in canada(?) turbocharged a kids barbie car, would love to see them do similar to that supercheap auto car we can see in the corner
-edit-
28:29 that noise got me nervous, can only imagine how Marty felt
VapeGoat dude, how in the absolute hell are you going to mention such an awesome video and NOT GIVE A LINK?! Redeem yourself immediately with a link.
@@alphazuluz Here ya go, they've done a few weird projects and their editing etc is pretty good too. I don't watch them as much as MCM but a crossover would be amazing...

Grind Hard Plumbing 👍
VapeGoat @grindhardplumbing they live in northwest USA also a great channel!:-)
Dont assemble an engine with power tools. Use hand tools and torque wrenches. Love the show. Keep up the good work guys.
4:30am UK time ... should really be getting ready for work ... oh well , fire me 👍😂
"there's a lot of stuff coming out of this head - you talking!" rofl
JayzTwoCents wants his digression back :P
an old session but one I got directed to. You guys so could of done with a strong telescopic magnet in this episode. Its a major player in the old tool box and a game changer!. cool series guys
I love you guys so much. What an ending! haha
These episodes fuck with my scheduling so much but they are my absolute favorite.
Disrespected Nose Vids are the best vids. Keep it up guys!
My rule of thumb is, if you've got the old parts out and you already have the new parts on hand, there's no reason to put the old parts back in instead of the new parts.
My rule of thumb is don’t replace things that ain’t broke
I still have 2 full spare sets of lash adjusters in my garage😆 take yours apart and deep clean them and use the new ones
its the classic 4g63 tick
Also i used to have a clear timing belt cover. They are sweet for a hundred or so miles and then they get dirty and nasty lol
Awesome video guys, it’s such a peaceful soothing sound of metals, machine and vocals.
Love the rivalry. I was always taught that the hydraulic lifters should be full of oil when installed. The vw bucket style tappets can be stripped and cleaned by banging down onto a bit of wood.
The phrase "zero cost fix" is physically arousing
>I promise wall to wall evo talk
>I like a charred carrot
Can't lie I laughed 😂😂😂
It's funny how Moog always says Martin to Martin when he is talking to him but Marty never says Moog.
Because Marty’s real name is Martin and moogs real name is Blair, not ,moog, so kinda makes sense
@@markb8467 full name Blairington Moognificent
