Nobody wants a CD crew member losing a finger to a loose wire/rope.

No it's not. Their first video will get like a couple hundred thousand views at best and everything after that will decline. There's not really anything all that exciting about a guillotine, it either chops something (wow so cool!) or it fails to. Not even remotely close to seeing what a hydraulic press can do to things. And even that fad was short lived. Waste of time and resources. I'm calling it right now. Dumb idea is dumb. Interesting on paper, sure. In reality, not gonna go anywhere.

Just because nobody asked: the washers spread the force from the crew head over a greater surface area and that way the screw head does not break the edge of the hole into it and slips through, since edges are weak points and prone to breaking. The pilot hole you need with scerws, because they repress a lot of material with their core. The pilot hole should have almost the size of the screw body so that the threads of the screw can still bite into something. In metal, this hole needs to be a hair bigger than the screw body, because you can't really repress the material with the screw. Would you be nailing the repressed material actually gives you the force on the shaft of the nail that holds it in place, it is basically a friction fit. That is why screws should on average be stronger than nails, a screw as a "shape fit", material would need to break out of the way for the screw to come out.

Heres a tip! For putting big screws in, if you dip them in soap it will help eliminate the friction and make it easier.
