Well explained. I was looking forward to visit the male city because I have a very short stopover which is only for 6hrs. With the help of your video I can at-least see male city and come back to the airport to Board my next flight

If you have 6 hours in your hand, then it's much more than enough to explore the male city.
Just take the 1 dollar ferry from the airport to Male City. And then you can explore the city in a budgeted way.

In the video, I see most ferries going to Male. Are there direct options to Hulhumale as well?
Hulhumale is directly connected to the airport by road. The buses I have shown in this video goes to Hulhumale also. Just go to the bus terminal and check for the Hulhumale bus. You will find buses every 10 to 15 minutes.

For private island stay and cost you can check my another video from Maldives playlist (Maldives tour budget under 98K) where I have mentioned all details and costing of Fihalhohi Island and water villa stay in that island (playlist link is in description of this video).
Sun Siyam will be almost similar to Fihalhohi but on a little higher side on cost. The cost of stay in these island fluctuate as per season. So just mail to the official email ID of Sun Siyam and get the exact current price of rooms.
(In my case Fihalhohi water villa stay was 300 USD per night for two person in off season of July first week)

And another alternative budget option is by private sharing speed boat from iCom and few other travel companies (25 USD per person).

Yes govt. ferry available. But you cannot get it from Male Airport.
You have to take a cab or bus or short ferry to Male city and from the Vilingli jetty of Male city you will get the govt. ferry to Maafushi.

1)My flight landing time is 13:10 PM on 25th dec. Is it possible to Catch Maphusi Public ferry from Male Vilingilli Ferry Terminal at 15:00.
2) Is toilet facility available in Public ferry & boats

Surely I will help you in these one by one.
1. If you are landing by 1pm and you want to catch 3pm ferry, then it's quite possible. Because hardly it will take 45 min in immigration and luggage belt waiting. So mostly by 2pm you will come out of airport. Then you have almost 1 hour. Just take a cab to Vilingilli terminal. It will take hardly take 15 min to reach, and then you can easily catch your boat transfer.
2. Yes a basic toilet facility is available in every ferry which runs for long duration.
3. Yes you can convert INR to MVR outside male airport but the exchange rates will be higher. So better to avoid that and so conversions from India only.
4. mtcc.mv/transport-services/. is the official website of Maldives for all kind of boat and ferry schedule So you can look into it for more details.

Surely I will help you with your query.
First of all if you are travelling to Maldives then you don't need any sim card. Because everywhere you will get Wi-Fi either it's your private Island or your hotel or restaurants in the public Island.
Also in the Male airport help desk area you can get a landline for doing some small local calls to your hotel or tour operator etc.
Now coming to your sim card query, there are two network operators in Maldives, Ooredoo & Dhiraagu. And they both having sim plan with minimum 1 week internet plan for travellers at a cost of approximately 35 to 40 USD.

Hi Ashvini,
Ras fusi is not very far from Male. It will hardly take 15 min by speed bit to reach the island. Still why they are charging so high??? Disgusting. It's really becoming a monopoly business for these resorts to charge unnecessarily high price.
You can check some third party speed boat provider companies in Male itself and hire a speed boat from them. I m sure it will be much cheaper.
You can contact atolltransfer.com for this and check what pricing they are providing. You can also check the pricing from iCom tours.
And there are many other companies for which you can just search the internet and check who can provide you better pricing.

Hi Aniket, Hulhumale island is connected with male airport by Road. So from the bus depot which I showed in this video, from there you will get direct buses to Hulhumale or you can take a cab also..

Rashdoo is at West of Male at around 60 km distance.
You can choose seaplane or ferry or speed boat for reaching Rashdoo.
Ferry operated on specific days only and take around 3 to 4 hours at a cost of approximately 5 USD per person.
For better information just WhatsApp on +960 737-8770 and get exact information .
They are one of the scuba dive team in rashidoo and they also arrange speed boat service. So just check with them once by messaging them.They can provide you proper details.
Now coming to your second question, as per my opinion all private islands are best at its place, but as per your requirement, budget, distance/connectivity and various other factors you have to choose where you want to stay and where you want to spend your holiday.
Our stay was at Fihalhohi, so regarding this island I can say that it was just fantastic.

Thanks for liking the video.
Surely I will try to clarify your query.
First of all for sharing speed boat you don't need to go to Male city. All sharing speed boats are run by big hotel groups and public boat/tour operators, and you will get these speed boats right outside the airport area.
(Only if you want to take the government ferry, which is very cheap - around 2 USD per person, then only you need to go to Villingili ferry terminal, which is in male city. But remember these ferries operated from Saturday to Thursday and having a single departure schedule at 3 pm only. And these are slow ferry, which will take 3 hours. Whereas speed boat take just 30 minutes. And sometimes the govt. Ferry gets cancelled also due to bad weather and other reasons)
Now for speed boat you need booking or not? Generally if you are not coming on a festive day like X-mas or new year or ramzaan, then if you want you can directly go there, pay then 25 USD per person in cash and board the ferry. Or else it's better to prebook them from various boat operators like "iCom Tours" or "Maafushi Tours".
If you are doing pre-booking then they will mention you the time, location and local contact number in the ticket itself. But if you are not doing any bookings, then just go to the help desk area (as shown in the video) and ask them that you want a speed boat for Maafushi, they will help you. Or you can just stand near the jetty area, and you will see all boats with the names of their respective operators, so just you can talk to them directly and board. Or generally the iCom person stands near the help desk area only. And he use to communicate with with passengers who have prebookked boat with them. So you can identify the person easily, and deal with him and board the speed boat.

Malahini is a private island, and for any private island in Maldives there is no other option than hiring a private boat.
Malahini is not too far from male. so you can contact your island directly and ask for a boat transfer. Check their rates. If it's ok then just go for it. Or else you can also approach some travel companies like iCom or Maafushi Tours and ask for hiring a private speed boat to & from trip to the island. Whichever is budgeted just go ahead with it.

It's tough to catch the ferry.
Because after 2:15, you need some time for immigration then again waiting for luggage. And then time to come out of the airport and catch taxi, then travel time to Male city and then tickets and boarding.
So within next 45 min of your landing it's a bit challenging.
They ferry is not crowded but usually it's almost get full. And the tickets you can buy directly from the counter there.
Also for your confirmation just cross check the schedule from the helpdesk area outside the male airport. Because someone they cancel the ferry or change the departing jetty due to some unconditional circumstances.
Or else the second best option for you is to take a sharing private speed boat from male to maafushi after 3pm and reach maafushi by 4pm.

Yes, cards are accepted in almost every place in Maldives.
No need to take cash if you are planning for doing all your transactions via card.
And in case if you need only cash in any situation, then from ATM you can always withdraw it..

Thanks for this Shubhendu! Noticed that they are equating 1 USD to 10 MVR. Is it cheaper to convert the USD to MVR or draw MVR from local ATM instead of carrying only USD? Also planning to return from Maafushi to Male and spend a night there before coming back to India. Is there any afternoon connection from Maafushi to Male city?
10 MVR against 1 USD is a too High. Not atall a good deal. Don't go for it. It's always cheaper to do the exchange in India only from some reputed RBI approved money exchange agency or bank rather then using foreign ATM withdrawal or any other option internationally.. And also note that it's always better to convert INR into some USD and some MVR as per your expense.
Or else if you convert USD to MVR, then you will end up with paying exchange rate for two times. Once when your INR converted to USD. And then again during conversation if USD to MVR. So never do that.
And for Maafushi to Male City there are speed boats available at afternoon and evening time also. Check the iCom boat timings in my "98k tour package" video or in their official website.

Very informative vdo. I'm from Kolkata. One thing I would like to ask -- I shall arrive Male at 16.05 and stay one night at Hulhumale. Unfortunately My arrival date is Friday. Can you tell me whether I can get taxi at airport on Friday for transfer or ask hotel for a cab?
Also want to know wheather these taxis at airport are prepaid, metered or I have to burgain?
No problem even if you are arriving on Friday.
There are certain speed boat services (on limited timings) till Maafushi also on Friday. So if you want you can travel also.
Also from the airport you will get cabs, as well as buses (limited service) for Hulumale or Male city.
And for cab, no need to book prepaid. Just go to the taxi stand area (as shown in my airport video) and just tell them your hotel or Street/area name. They will hardly charge 5 to 8 USD.
Fare may go 1 to 2 USD higher but it will not be like very very higher and you have to bargain.
So no issues. You can carry on..

Ami vila nautica paradise island e thakbo from 8th-9th june. However 7th-8th june and 9th-10th i would be staying at triton beach hotel, maafushi.
So how do i arrange my island transfers? Vila nautica people are saying that they would be arranging for transfers but it only frm airport-island-airport.
This is make my travel plan very difficult in terms of travel.
How do i sort this out?

Surely I will try to help you out in this.
Nautica is actually very near to Male, but its at North side of Male.
And Maafushi is the public island at south of male.
So both are on opposite sides and your Nautica stay is just in between two days of maafushi stay.
In this case two options are best:-
1. Change your public island stay from Maafushi to Himmafushi, because it's very near to Nautica and the Nautica management will surely provide you boat from Himmafushi. Or if not, then you can hire third party boat also from Himmafushi to Nautica.
2. Change your private island stay date to either beginning of your travel or at the end. Don't keep it in between. So in that case you can first go to maafushi as usual and then after two days of stay you can come back to male, and from there Nautica management will provide you boat pickup and drop to their island.

For booking a flight from Male to Maamigilli you can visit the site "villaair(dot)aero" and select Velena to Maamigilli. Travel time will be just 39 to 49 min. And cost varies, which you can check directly in their website.
MVR currency is almost 5.5 times higher than Indian rupees. So our 550 rupees will be equivalent to 100 rupees in Maldives.

How can we're go male airport to maafushi and what's is cheapest way, same as on return time, please suggest me,
From Male airport to Maafushi there are two ways to reach..
one is by using a speed boat and another is by using a government free boat.
Speed boat you can catch from Male airport itself and it will take 25 USD per person on sharing basis and it will take 30 minutes to reach Maafushi from Male airport.
For government ferrys you have to go to male City first, and from there the ferry cost 2 USD per person and it takes 1 hour 30 min to reach Maafushi.

Can we take a public ferry for masfushi island?actually we are coming from Hyderabad to male..which currency should we carry mvr or dollar,?
Yes Moiz you can take public free but they have specific timings. For that you can check my Maldives package video and see whether your arrival time matches with the public free time or not.
And in Maldives both USD and MVR are accepted in almost every place. So you can keep currency as person your convenience.

But as it's a tourist place so USD is widely accepted in Maldives. And in some places the rates are in USD only. So it will be convenient if you carry MVR and USD both. Or else only MVR will also work 100%. Not to worry.

For local expenses like food and general market purchase etc. keep MVR. And for speed boat, hotel, Water activities keep USD.
And yes there in male airport you can exchange currency. But the rates will be high. So its better to exchange within India only from any reputed RBI approved money exchanger or bank and then start you tour.

Really sorry from my part. Because regarding the government ferry I knew very clearly about the Maafushi route, but in my hotel only they told that the same Maafushi ferry goes via Gulhi. So I mentioned it to you.

Hi, i have a return flight from Male to India at 12.10 pm. Is it okay to start at 7 am fiery ?? I dont want to miss my flight. Someone saying it takes a lot of time at airport. Pls suggest
If your flight is at 12 then you should be at airport maximum by 9:30 to 10am (not a single minute more than 10).
And the ferry from Maafushi is at 7:30 (not 7am). And it will reach the Vilingli jetty terminal of Male City (not Male airport). So from the city again you have to take a cab and reach airport.
So overall you can manage your schedule JUST at the right time ONLY if everything is smooth and there is no time delay in any place. (There will be no buffer time in you hand for any adverse case or delay)
But in case if any one the thing gets delayed, then it will mess up your everything.
For example, if the ferry departs 10 to 15 min late, or if on the way the ferry get delayed a little bit due to bad weather or any other reason, or if there is no cab for 15 to 20 min at Male City for your airport ride, or if you get a bit rush in immigration or any other counters, so if any one of these delay case happens with you, then it will surely give you a tough time and mental restlessness.
So in my opinion if you have flights after 1pm or 2pm, then it's fine to take the ferry, but if your flight is at 12 then it's better to go for a speed boat from Maafushi to Male, which will take hardly 30 minutes to reach the airport from Maafushi Island.

One is sharing speed boats operated by private companies, which will cost you 25 USD per person from Male Airport to Maafushi.

I prefer you should take currency from India only. Don't exchange in Maldives. It will be costly for you.

A general suggestion.
Take currency from India only. Don't exchange in Maldives. It will be costly for you.
In Maldives USD and MVR both are accepted. Whatever is comfortable for you, that you can carry for transactions.
In almost every place forex or any other international cards are also accepted. Or you can also do your transaction in cash in the form of USD or MVR in almost every place.
If your hotel, speed boat, water activities are booked or you know how much will be the cost then carry that amount seperately because thatbwill be a sure sort expense for you. And then for food and other expenses calculate seperately. On an average in Maafushi you have to spend minimum 10 to 15 USD approx. for one person per day. So just calculate according and take currency. And also take some amount in excess so that in case there is a shortage, you can use it.
In my case I approximately calculated my trip expenses for total 4 days and carried additional 100 USD and 1000 MVR in cash for my additional expenses or you can say it was a reserve cash amount in case of excess expense which can be used. For speed boat to Maafushi you can go to iCom tours website and book the sharing speed boat tickets from there.
Similarly for other islands there are different other operators who operate their sharing Speed Boats from Male airport to the respective Island.
And for Seaplanes you can go to TMA (Trans Maldivian Airline) website and book your seaplane from there. Or you can also go to the TMA counter in Male airport and book your seaplane.

Once you cleared the immigration and entered Maldives, then you have no issues. Wherever you want you can stay. Just while filling the EMUGA form, mention the places of staying correctly as per your bookings.
And for children no RTPCR and no vaccine required. In EMUGA form also, as soon as you put the age of your child, the vaccine/RTPCR uploading tab will get inactive. And you can just simply submit the form without any of such document upload.

But for private island or any water villa booking I recommend you to book it by mailing the island directly in their official email ID. Thus you can get better discount compared to online booking only for private island resort stay bookings.

I will surely answer all your queries..
1. visa process don't take more that 2 minutes.
If your EMUGA QRcode is with you and everything else is fine, then the officer will just scan your passport and thats it. They will stamp it and you are ready to go..
but the main concern here is the Q. if the Q is long, then you have to wait for your turn to come. So if you need it early then you have to be in first everywhere right from deboarding the flight, and then catching the transfer bus and then you have to quickly run to the immigration counter. Then you will win the race 🤣👍🏼
2. If you have less time, then cab is the only fastest option. They will charge you 5 to 6 USD and will take hardly 8 to 10 minutes to reach Vilingilli from Male airport.
3. For this query my answer is - It's not impossible but very tuff for which you really have to put effort and your luck also should be in your favour in case of immigration clearance and getting items from luggage belt. If you quickly complete these two stages then surely you can catch the 3pm ferry of Maafushi. Or else second option is the speed boat only.
After completing all your procedures when you are in the cab area, just check the time. If you have at least minimum 20 minutes in your hand then you catch the cab or just leave it. Also ask the cab driver will he be able to take you there within 3pm. because sometime they know better about the road traffic situation of that route at that time.

Male to Maafushi Ferry Departs from Vilingili Ferry Terminal daily at 7:30am and 3pm (except Friday). Cost is US$ 2 per person per way.
But if your flight landing at 1pm, then it's little tuff to reach Vilingilli. you can make your immigration and everything faster and try to catch a cab by latest 2:30pm if everything is completed.
Or else speed boat is the only option you will have.

Ritz Carlton is a private island, so till there no sharing or government boat available. But the nearest public island to this is Dhiffushi. So from Male you can reach Dhiffushi by a sharing Speed boat or government ferry. And then you can check for any private boat operator in Dhiffushi island or tell your private island to provide a boat just from Dhiffushi till Carlton. That way you can travel in the most economical way.
From Male (Vilingilli terminal) there are government ferries which take 3:30 hours to reach Dhiffushi and cost around 2 USD per person.
At the same time there are some speed boat operator also (Altec speed boat service) from Male to Dhiffushi which costs 25 USD per person and takes 30 min to reach Dhiffushi.

You have Govt. Ferry as well as sharing speed boats to reach Maafushi in budget.
Govt. ferry is the cheapest it will cost 2 USD per person. But two things to remember. It not from the male airport jetty. You have to travell till Male city Villingili ferry terminal, for which if you hire a cab, it will cost you 5 to 8 USD. Second thing is that the ferry timings are limited. Few days in the morning and all day it's at afternoon around 3pm. And Friday is a holiday. And the third thing is , sometimes due to bad weather conditions it gets cancelled also. The fourth thing is it will take around 3 hours to reach Maafushi.
On other hand the private speed boats are from the airport jetty only. It will take just 30 min. And there are many operators to choose from. And few operate on Friday also. And it costs 25 USD per person on a sharing basis. Some of the major speed boat operators are "iCom tours" and "Maafushi Tours"
So I hope you got an overall idea of travelling from Male airport Maafushi.

Depends on how far is your hotel.
You can take a short cab or even a city bus.
Is there any prepaid taxi service in male airport?
I didn't see any such prepaid counter outside Male.
But you don't even need a prepaid option. As I mentioned in the video, just outside the airport area you can get the taxi very easily and there is no much cheating and all.
If you tell them the place and ask the amount, they will tell you the fare as 6 to 8 USD.

Yes Tahir, government ferry is the most budgeted option. But the only thing is the timing. If you reach male after 2pm, then it's difficult to catch the ferry.
Also if you reach too early in the morning in Male then also its a waste to wait till afternoon and go via ferry. Thus almost your whole one day will be wasted.
And ultimately when you are on an international tour, your "time is also money". So you should manage your time also in a better way.. ☺️👍🏼

Actually the peak season in Maldives is from November to February.
So best time to enjoy in Maldives is that season only.
But due to peak season all the rates are high during this time. So for budget travelers the peak time is somewhere around May to July.

Oh ok.. Dhangethi is at extreme south from Male and comes under Alif Dhaal Atoll.
But not to worry, because from Male you have daily speed boat service to this island which will cost you 45 USD per person on sharing basis. And total travel time will be approximately 2 hours.
The speed boat timings are as follows:-
👉Airport/Male city to Dhangethi, departure time is 10:45 am & 4:00 pm (Saturday-Thursday).
👉Airport/Male city to Dhangethi, departure time is 9:45 am & 3:00 pm (Fridays).
👉And from Dhangethi to Airport /Male city, departure time is 7:00 am & 2:45 pm (Departure from Dhangethi Harbor). (weekly 7 Days).

For Maafushi or any other nearby public island, booking a speedboat from the airport on sharing basis is cheaper.
It will be 25 SGD per adult from airport to Maafushi in sharing speed boats, and total time will be 30 minutes approx.

Any idea for summer island maldives? They are saying 175$ for single person. It is a 40 mins speedboat. Should I book it from hotel or airport?
For private islands like summer island and all you will not get any sharing boat option. So check with some other private boat operators on Male and if they provide less price then book with them or else you have to go with the resort option only.
(But whatever you do you have to do it in advance. Don't wait till the last minute and try to book it after reaching Male airport).

Yes you can withdraw money (MVR currency) from your Indian ATM card in Male or any part of Maldives.
Just only thing you have to check that your card should be an international debit cum ATM card. And second thing you have to check whith your bank or online via net-banking that international transaction is activated in your card or not?

Yes, from Maafushi day tours are available at an approximate cost of 100 USD to 120 USD per person for various private island were you will get a chance to see water villas also (from outside only. They will not allow to go inside the rooms).

They will provide you the transfer at an additional cost.
