- Today’s feature is one of those guys for me I always loved watching play, and held as one of my favorite players, even if he wasn’t all everything on the NBA level, or considered one of the best on that level. What I liked most about Aaron Brooks, is although he was never the tallest, he was most certainly the most competitive on most floors he stepped on, even if it was to a fault. His game and his mentality on the court was always beautiful to me, his bow legged, fast moving feet, ability to get anywhere on the floor he wanted to with his shiftiness and ball on a string, elevation on his jumper that stretched far beyond NBA range, and again his competitiveness made him fearless and ideal for taking and making big shots in big moments, like he did against UCLA, who were the #1 team in the country at the time, and against Arizona, both Pac 10 rival teams expected to stomp the Oregon Ducks but left with disappointment. He was all everything in high school, including a McDonald’s all American, Parade all American, Washington’s Mr Basketball and a top 4 point guard in the nation. In college the success followed him, leaving a 4 year starter, Wooden all American first team all conference and left with his degree after 4 years in political science, a competitor on and off the floor. I wouldn’t say the expectations were exactly high for Brooks, drafted 26th overall in the first round by the Houston Rockets in 2007, but he was a great scorer in college and high school, and brought in expected to carry that on into the NBA as well. One of my favorite college players ever. He was cold in Oregon to the point he started to look like the logo in a way. Oregon is Aaron Brooks. Cold

I played against him when he was in college. He's legitimately 5'7". He played in the NBA for a decade. I don't know what could have gone better

@thesweatterminator Him getting to the NBA was so unlikely in the first place. Him playing a decade was something completely else. I don't see what could have gone better.
Kevin Martin next? The skinny 6’7 quick sg scorer that played in Sacramento and Houston alongside Aaron Brooks. He was underrated but I felt like his career should have been better. I always love how in depth you get.

When I saw him at Franklin High School, he was definitely one of the most hardest working players I ever saw on the court...you should do Martell Webster too.
Aaron brooks is a 2k legend
Drafting lowry was the sign of the end for brooks. Then kyle started dropping near triple doubles every game was just affirmation of managements decision to replace him. Unfortunate for brooks but at least he got to play for a decade in the NBA and a MIP? I say a career well spent.
Houston didn't draft Lowry they traded for him
Played pickup with him in Alabama one summer. Dude was cold af, but he was nowhere near 6'0". Im barely 5'9" and we were damn near the same height.
He was measured at 5'10.5 at the combine barefoot
I played against him too. He's 5'8" max, a buck 40 soaking wet.
@@wl6020you can throw those test off by standing on your toes. Which is a reason the nba doesn't show coverage of the height measurements Live during the NBA combine week.

Yeah, like others have said, I don't see his growth really being stunted at all. It's not like he was a top 5 pick...He got drafted at the end of the first round, was undersized and still played ten years in the NBA, being a starter for a good chunk of that time. He also averaged about double figures for his career which is definitely nothing to sneeze at. Not everyone is going to be a star....Some are built to have careers like he did. He's definitely more of a success story to me vs. stunted growth, especially given how many players don't even make the league, or wash out after not even finishing a rookie deal.

Bruhhh this is not a stunted growth. Just because your a fan of player personaly and didnt live up to whatever expectations you had for them doesn't mean they underachieved at all.

Honestly he got injured at the wrong time. His stunted growth became Kyles growth spurt. It’s one of those unfortunate situations where the next man up situation becomes a detriment to the player before. The rockets was exactly the right team for his skill set, but in other teams he was just looked at as a good backup.
