No matter how many times there is a battle in this map. They always have something different and unique in each one of them. Especially when Apollo is commentating and giving his own touch on it.
I fully agree! It’s a perfectly balanced map that allows for flexibility and creativity! This map is just great all around! No advantage for the defense side or attacking side.

Macedon is in trouble. After Rome's conquest of Ilyria, they look east towards the lands of Macedon as their next target, and Macedon was not the power they once were. In an attempt to defeat them, Macedon sent requests to the Hellenistic factions to the south to help. But tired of the short leash Macedon has put them on, the factions of Sparta and Athens would rather the Romans overthrow their northern neighbor. Desperate for help, Macedon sent envoys to their rivals, the Thracian kingdoms of Tylis and the Odryssian Kingdom, promising them independence in the lands of Thrace. Also fearing Rome's expansive conquest, they two Thracian kingdoms decided to side with the lesser evil that is Macedon and mobilized their forces.
But Rome was not idle this whole time, knowing full well of Macedon's gamble thanks to Greek spies. They decided to gather support too, and looked eastward to do so. They sent envoys to Galatia, rulers of the heartlands of Anatolia, promising them control of the lands of Thrace and a foothold in Europe. They also sent a request to the Seleucid Empire for assistance too, and they too had investment in wanting to take down Macedon. The Emperor of the Seleucids wanted one of his sons installed as a king of Macedon, making it a vassal state to assist them in their wars with the Egyptians in the south.
Both sides gathered their forces, Macedon marching their army eastward to gather at city under Tylis's control. However, reports soon reached to them from their scouts: Roman forces are marching eastwards towards them, while banners of the Seleucid and Galatian army are coming from the south east. Macedon realized that they were about to be pincered in, and decided that they would make a stand in the city. Will Macedon survive and prove to Rome and their allies why they are the heirs of Alexander, or will Rome conquer the kingdom that once ruled the world?

No way what u were saying was identical to what i was thinking except that instead of a selucids emperor ruling macedon i was like "the selucids want s foot hold in macedon to show everyone that they r the soul decendants of alexander the greats kingdom"
When I saw the attackers just throwing in pikemen in a blob I knew they would be in a lot of trouble in the end .
Absolute calamity, one of the greatest battles Apollo, solid players, thought the battle was over when The Romans launched assaults after assaults on the initial offense……, yet only to meet the ever so counter offenses by the shieldless nobles, masssive reserves too, always a big turn on 👌

Naked warriors, when you're poor but need to go to war

Good battle. Quick question: for hellenic factions with pike infantry: are they a one-trick-ponie? My question being "Apart from forming a pike wall, is pike infantry or hoplites usable/viable?"
Pikes and hoplites are pretty much unmatched when in formation and with secure flanks, and are usually paired with shock troops for flanking enemies, for a hammer and anvil type move, or as a defensive wall for ranged troops to cover behind. Though hoplites are a little better when attacking walls for example, because they have good defense even outside formation

I would hate to have to fight against the Assyrians. They were known for being brutal to those that they conquered and the fear factor when fighting them probably had the same effect as the dread trait in med 2.

There is a mod that removes the cloth for naked warriors, buuuut there's nothing underneath the cloth. It's just smooth. Soo not really much of a point other than being completely naked. I thought it would be a funny mod but without there being anything down under, it's still kinda funny.
The Praetorian Guard had no skill on the battlefield, but instead, in the art of guarding, as in their name, so they would have done poorly historically.

APOLLO I HAVE THE PERFTECT MOD FOR YOU: You said you wanted a mod that removes the cloth it is called Para Bellum and the City Guard unit in the mod is basically naked warriors with spears but no cloth.

During the first roman dacina war the dacians ambushed the Roamn army at tapae in the Carpathian mountains and completely anihilated 2 roman legions ,the emperor had to retreat ,Make peace and pay tribute to Dacians

Selused and the Macedonias have the same uniforms!
The Romans feared so much the Dacian Falx warriors they ha to completely change and reinforce their helmets and armour and they had to create special legionaryes units that were covered in full metal armor from hands to feet to deal with Thr Dacian warriors ....the Dacian Falx was best a peasant weapon but the best answer to deal with heavy roman units

what map is this?
historically we don't actually know much about the naked warriors, there's a ton of roman bias and propaganda in our major sources, and we know for a fact that any people in history liked armor if they can provide some. might be a ritual situation pumped by the soldiers' reports, might as well be a tradition used in early and smaller local conflicts. i don't think they assumed to win against the roman warmachine just being naked and yelling at the enemy. they were not stupid lol
