The reason they didn't go with what we got in this trailer is because this trailer shows what the devs wanted it to be, not what the game was supposed to be. At the time this was released, hardware limitations at the time made it impossible to make what this trailer shows a reality. Nowadays, it'd be more possible to make what was shown in the trailer into an actual game because hardware has evolved massively since then, so it's possible that if the devs ever make a sequel, it could be close to what this trailer showed
It was, from what i heard you choose the faction and then you could costumize your character with stuff of your faction, i haven't understand if move set was changed by the weapons or from the entire set.
i think the warden mashup screamed "Victoire du peuple", French for "the people's victory". Truely a shame the devs couldn't stick to the more grounded ideas for the game, it feels like forever since i've sat daydreaming listening to the original main menu theme.
The chills when you listen to it again after so long... I miss the more down to earth theme. The new Magic and even freakin Steampunk Weapons and Effects stink so much
@@The_Struggler_ Yeah. I felt like the combat was more balanced at launch. Atleast in closed beta test, it was. It all came down to player knowledge of the character, and outsmarting your opponent. Instead of infinite fske outs and side dodges. I felt like Kensei couldn't spam side didge nor warden shoulder bash. I rarely used shoulder bash due to it being a risk to leave me open. I'd use it in 1v2 to dodge an attack and stun the 2nd attacker before he could start his attack up. Then I'd try to guard break and throw into a wall so I could focus on one for a few seconds
Exactly, I hate warden cause of his move set. Even when he uses his sword it looks stupid. I love the way warden looks but I refuse to play as him. I wish they would give him a full rework. I also wish conquer used a mace instead of a flail cause that would be more realistic

I like how the animations actually look somewhat realistic and the fighting animations look like how real people would fight instead of a bunch of effects and feints
I always think about this and the thin red line trailer, It looked like the game was going to be something dark and awesome and not a competitive arcade multiplayer

I would love if for honor would become darker, but to get darker it needs better lightning, better damage, better heroes and more maps with darker themed territory and environment, AND BETTER LORE!
The coolest part is how the shoulder armour pouldren rips of the warden when the viking sinks his axe into the back of his neck. It would be cool to have actual armour degradation over time and not just blood stain accumulation
I'd like to note that the Warden you point out around 2 minutes in actually seems to be wearing the current knight captain armor. We know just off the other 2015 cinematic trailer that we would have been able to wear it since among the 4 knight heroes posing at the end of it he shows up among them, but with a shield and flail much like conqueror.

The beta and when the game first released were close to the E3 graphics and it even had the same dark atmosphere, but then they started adding executions that were slowly becoming less realistic as they added more and more which caused the game's serious and dark atmosphere to slowly fade away.

Anyone else remember the ‘Thin Red Path’ trailer for the game? I really like it because it doesn’t show any fighting, any glorious action and moves, it was very grim and bleak, not showing the battle but the aftermath of one with a battlefield of frozen corpses, and a knight and his friends, standing over corpses as more Vikings come in to finish them off. It carries on with the narration, with my favourite line being “Where glory is the colour of blood”. It makes me wonder what a dark For Honor would’ve looked like, maybe they could’ve actually did something with the story mode, where instead of going “humanity only know war, war is man, man bad”, how about we explore more of man’s dark side, a sort of, Spec Ops The Line of medieval games. Like how about we in the beginning, play as a plucky young Warden, wanting to be a hero and then go home, but as it goes he becomes far darker, he excels at war and killing, it becomes normal, even acceptable to him, he becomes more separated and socially isolated from his comrades. He realises he loves war, he loves killing people and becomes a hollow shell of a man, unable to live without a bloodied weapon in his hands He becomes the kind of man who can’t cope with normal, day to day live, and has excelled and conditioned to kill and follow orders. Like the Crusader backstory from Darkest Dungeon.
This footage might be fake gameplay, but honestly... this is the For Honor I bought the game for. Gritty, dark, brutal, with still some degree of realism. Very different from the colourful, silly game with golden spikes we have now. Such a wasted opportunity
Honestly imagine if For Honor came out like this. I saw this years ago and I was very impressed. The emotes, forced paired emotes that don't require the other to press a button, the aesthetic, the realistic movements with the environment (like the stairs), mechanics and all. Even if it's CGI, it looks great, too good to be true, and that's why we couldn't get this.
Dani if you look closely at the archer minions before they got whooped to death, you can see that one of them I believe is wearing a mail coif that is tailored and is covering the mouth too. Just to throw that out there :D
I really, really hope they update the graphics and textures/meshes to get somewhat more down to realism with those weapons. The ones in this trailer look so good. Waiting for FH 2 probably...

Well we can still get this. It’s apparently all in the game files... whatever that means. This is what the Breach game mode should’ve been. They could easily still keep the game we have now for pvp duels and brawls, then work on future more grand in scale battles like this.
money. it's always money shame big developers fail to see that you get out what you put in. I think if Ubisoft committed most of their time to this like they did with Assassin's Creed, there would be a lot of people still playing and they would've made the money back; and more. but to make a game that plays the same way as this trailer... man it would cost so much and take years of development. Not only that but in 2015, i doubt the current hardware for consoles or mid/high end pc rigs could run the game to it's full potential

Yet it seems that they put little to no effort in For honor. I'd like to think that it's a matter of how Ubisoft is distributing their employees amongst their games, and for honor just doesn't have the man power to produce what they truly envisioned. For all we know they could have like 2 guys in a sweatshop ''updating'' the game.
I wish our for honor was more like this. Especially warden. Imagine being able to switch between half swording and normal by holding the heavy button or something like that.
Honestly I think this guy has a few good points like how the warden’s stance went from open field to enclosed areas which show a sense of adaptability and fight animations look accurately even for the Viking with the axe he used it to hook the shield away from the body leaving him exposed for the next attack
I love For Honor to bits. I've been around since the early Alpha and beta stages and it was officially the very first game I not only pre-ordered but it was the very first game I bought the Collector's Edition of too. I went on to instantly pre order future season passes and now here we are battle passes in the game as well. For Honor as truly transformed overtime and the game is absolutely nothing like how it was during the very early stages of the game. It is easily my most played game just above Killing Floor 2 on my PS4. I even made it my own personal Game of the Year of 2017. As of today I currently stand up atado reputation score of 558 and I have proudly served the night of action from day one. These days I don't play the game as much as I used to. But I definitely make it a point to at least play the game at least one day out of every week sometimes more if I have the free time. It's more I love for honor and to say I enjoy the game a crap ton would be a very sore understatement. That being said someone that has always had interest in ancient history whether it's in the west all across Europe or further out in the east across Asia. I've Loved ancient history of all times and I love to study and research the different tools armor weapon array and other forms of equipment used in the military back in the times of old. Anyways where I'm going with this is: As much as I adore the game for Honor I really was disappointed to figure out that the devs quickly dropped the whole gritty serious more realistic Vibes in favor for a more laid-back casual Goofy fictional sort of style involve presentation and just overall atmosphere. Now when I very first saw this game play for the first time I must admit I honestly felt pretty disappointed compared to the final version of the official game. But of course I still love the game a ton and I'll definitely play it as much as I can until the day the servers finally close and I sure hope that isn't yet for a very long time to come. ( if Ubisoft somehow found it within themselves to develop an offline version of the game that includes all of the content that was ever put in the game after the servers have shut down so players can at least play the game on disc and still enjoy the game play itself even if that just is against bots I'll still be happy with that over nothing because this game is truly one of a kind and it's Unique gameplay style is what kept me coming back even when the game was at its worst ) I flipping adore For Honor. ✌😷👍
When you talk about the mid cut to displace proto Warlords shield, you missed the fact that he just decided not to use his mace to strike the Warden while his sword was bound in the shield. He literally just stands there and waits to get hit

I know this is an old video but something i noticed is that the fighting in this CGI gameplay wasn't as arcade as we ended up getting. It seemed more like 1 hit kill game with a stamina bar that if depleted opened you up for a finisher. Also seems that armor sometimes could save you from an instant kill but that is on the side note.
I feel like it would be so much cooler to have the minions at a regular or taller height to match the warriors. Make the battlefield seem a little more realistic at least

Pro tip: you can turn off all effects in the menu, or just the enemy and ally effects! Really helps

This is what the Breach game mode should’ve been. They could easily still keep the game we have now for pvp duels and brawls, then work on future more grand in scale battles like this.

shame big developers fail to see that you get out what you put in. I think if Ubisoft committed most of their time to this like they did with Assassin's Creed, there would be a lot of people still playing and they would've made the money back; and more. but to make a game that plays the same way as this trailer... man it would cost so much and take years of development. Not only that but in 2015, i doubt the current hardware for consoles or mid/high end pc rigs could run the game to it's full potential

@@MassiveChoad-vr5gy I don't play siege but form what I understand it was at it's worst in the beginning, and then a few years later they attempted to fix it and now they make bank off of it and I'd doubt that they are planning to let the game end anytime soon. Yet it seems that they put little to no effort in For honor. I'd like to think that it's a matter of how Ubisoft is distributing their employees amongst their games, and for honor just doesn't have the man power to produce what they truly envisioned. For all we know they could have like 2 guys in a sweatshop ''updating'' the game.

Honestly I think this guy has a few good points like how the warden’s stance went from open field to enclosed areas which show a sense of adaptability and fight animations look accurately even for the Viking with the axe he used it to hook the shield away from the body leaving him exposed for the next attack

I love For Honor to bits. I've been around since the early Alpha and beta stages and it was officially the very first game I not only pre-ordered but it was the very first game I bought the Collector's Edition of too.
I went on to instantly pre order future season passes and now here we are battle passes in the game as well. For Honor as truly transformed overtime and the game is absolutely nothing like how it was during the very early stages of the game. It is easily my most played game just above Killing Floor 2 on my PS4. I even made it my own personal Game of the Year of 2017. As of today I currently stand up atado reputation score of 558 and I have proudly served the night of action from day one.
These days I don't play the game as much as I used to. But I definitely make it a point to at least play the game at least one day out of every week sometimes more if I have the free time. It's more I love for honor and to say I enjoy the game a crap ton would be a very sore understatement.
That being said someone that has always had interest in ancient history whether it's in the west all across Europe or further out in the east across Asia. I've Loved ancient history of all times and I love to study and research the different tools armor weapon array and other forms of equipment used in the military back in the times of old. Anyways where I'm going with this is:
As much as I adore the game for Honor I really was disappointed to figure out that the devs quickly dropped the whole gritty serious more realistic Vibes in favor for a more laid-back casual Goofy fictional sort of style involve presentation and just overall atmosphere.
Now when I very first saw this game play for the first time I must admit I honestly felt pretty disappointed compared to the final version of the official game. But of course I still love the game a ton and I'll definitely play it as much as I can until the day the servers finally close and I sure hope that isn't yet for a very long time to come.
( if Ubisoft somehow found it within themselves to develop an offline version of the game that includes all of the content that was ever put in the game after the servers have shut down so players can at least play the game on disc and still enjoy the game play itself even if that just is against bots I'll still be happy with that over nothing because this game is truly one of a kind and it's Unique gameplay style is what kept me coming back even when the game was at its worst )

When you talk about the mid cut to displace proto Warlords shield, you missed the fact that he just decided not to use his mace to strike the Warden while his sword was bound in the shield. He literally just stands there and waits to get hit

5:52 THE HEADBUTT!
I know this is an old video but something i noticed is that the fighting in this CGI gameplay wasn't as arcade as we ended up getting. It seemed more like 1 hit kill game with a stamina bar that if depleted opened you up for a finisher. Also seems that armor sometimes could save you from an instant kill but that is on the side note.
Wait a fucking minute, all the Viking minions at the start have center grip shields! Wtf they had it right then decided to change it.
I feel like it would be so much cooler to have the minions at a regular or taller height to match the warriors. Make the battlefield seem a little more realistic at least
