I'm guessing he's using the momentum of the blade to generate speed and force, but the only thing actually keeping him on the ground is just pure muscle.

Well highlanders fought Vikings . They weren’t Germanic Vikings they were Celtic pict warriors. Some highlanders were actually knighted during the Middle Ages .
The Picts had long been absorbed by the Scottish Gaelic Dal Riatan culture at that point, and various Viking armies interbred with them. So no, highlanders hadn’t been Picts for centuries.

I always assumed he was a beefed up version of the romanticized Highlander, which he still is, but seeing that his weapons are somewhat inspired by other existing ones from nearby cultures is nice. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who is baffled by the fact that he lacks any proper options for the classic "highlands claymore" with quillons look (I am referring to the great sword, not the basket hilted sword. Apparently even though this usage is technically incorrect, it has become widely accepted due to how widespread it is.) I really wonder what his new armor will look like and which direction they can take him, considering Aramusha, Shaman and Centurions new armors all brought something new to the table.
The definition of claymore is controversial but the reality of the situation is that the meaning has shifted, it is correct to call a 2 handed Scottish sword with forward sloping quillions a claymore by the modern sense of that word, much like how decimated doesn't mean to destroy 10% of a thing anymore. It’s explained in the lore. Essentially, the Vikings helped what would be their version of Scotland fight off foreign invaders, so they returned the favor by helping Valkenheim (the Viking country) in the Faction War.
You wouldn’t use a claymore like a normal sword , you’d die that way It was made for large sweeps If you had to hit someone with it more than once chances are you’re not using it right
The mercenary explanation parallels what we know about the Highlanders in lore, so coincidence or not that's cool. Also if it's not a coincidence hes probably only wearing leathers to fit in with the Vikings and is probably the second most heavily armored of his faction to make up for that.

This particular sword is called a "claidheamh-mòr" in Scottish Gaelic (pronounced "clay-ev morr"), deriving into "clay more". On a side note, the Gaelic pronunciation of "claidheamh" actually sounds a lot like the English word "cleave". Rather fitting for an anti-cavalry weapon.

Didn't the CCU essentially make ALL light spam viable on every character? The problem is Highlander doesn't have enough tools to be able to stand a chance against knowledgeable opponents? Other characters have more than light spam that's viable? I really haven't played this game too much post CCU so I can't tell, this is just my understanding.
the reason he is pretty good at light spamming is because his lights flash white, throwing off the visual red indicator, and changing the way we perceive the light attack. If he didn't have as bright of white on his sword, it would be the same as everyone elses.

I think the term "Claymore" still fits. Why not? That's what the sword is culturally, and you can distinct the two with "claymore" and "basket-hilted claymore". Claymore is just the englishified word that means "large sword", isn't it? Well, the Claymore is a large sword. Not a greatsword, but certainly in the middleground between a longsword and a greatsword, and they were often heavier than longswords. Most people in history didn't use the terminology we do. They just called everything a sword.

There is one blade that I prefer. The death pitch blade. It not only is thin but it has a distal taper. There is another blade that's like that but i don't remember the name. Since I abandoned for honor a bit ago since I can't play against higher up levels since I'm rep 15 and haven't played in a long time...
I like to think that For Honor takes place in an alternate timeline and that is why there are ancient Romans and whatnot all within the same time period.

The only explanation I can think of, that actually would make more sense, for the For Honor universe would be that their whole planet is just a multiverse or timeline dumping ground. Soldiers, weapons and armor just appear there over time.

His light spam is very good, but his combos and heavies are where the real fun is. There is a great video on his fifteen combos that will help you.

There is one blade that I prefer. The death pitch blade. It not only is thin but it has a distal taper.
There is another blade that's like that but i don't remember the name. Since I abandoned for honor a bit ago since I can't play against higher up levels since I'm rep 15 and haven't played in a long time...
I like to think that For Honor takes place in an alternate timeline and that is why there are ancient Romans and whatnot all within the same time period.

The only explanation I can think of, that actually would make more sense, for the For Honor universe would be that their whole planet is just a multiverse or timeline dumping ground. Soldiers, weapons and armor just appear there over time.
Seems like it since all pf the factions in for honor have different heroes from different eras and some not even from the middle ages at all i thnk centurion and gladiator are a good example but i also thnk jiang jun is also a good example too of wht i mean sincr he is base of on guan yu who is alive during the warring states period of china before the medeaval era
