Well it was originally going to be a Warhammer game so it makes sense that there are similar aesthetics. Besides Warhammer has been stealing from other scifi's for decades. They likely even stole from Starcraft as well, one could argue the Tau were heavily 'inspired' by the Protoss.
Starcraft is also inspired by Alien Vs Predator also. The Zerg are basically Xenomorph, and the Protoss are partially inspired by the Predator. So it's not only ripping off Warhammer but also Alien Vs Predator. Speaking of AVP, I'm kind of surprised that 20th Century Fox, and the creator of AVP didn't talk with Blizzard Entertainment to create a AVP RTS strategy game that plays a lot like Starcraft. I mean all you have to do is just take the basic gameplay of Starcraft, just re-skinned Zerg and Protoss into Xenomorph, and Yautja/Predator along and there you go: AVP strategy game that plays like Starcraft. There was a missed opportunity for a AVP strategy game to be played like Starcraft and we missed it.

This is an official DLC. Also carbot mostly made SC2 animations, but it was way easier to make a dlc like this to SC cause it's 2d
