I'm guessing the 96 is the same model design as the 93? Mine is a wagon though. Thumb up. 😀

Pump is in the same place but there may be a different sending unit but the fuel pump replacement would be the same.

@@KNKRNR You might try telling people which color wire is power and which is ground. The Delphi pump I am currently trying to put in has new wire connecters, and each one has a connector of a slightly different diameter to match up properly with the new pump lugs. Unfortunately, I didn't double check which color wire went to which lug when I took the original apart and assumed that the red wire was the positive. The new pump wire colors are just the opposite! Now I have to go see if the positive wire is actually the black wire at the connector or not.

Where did you use that little o ring

That o-'ring was actually a clip to hold the pre-filter screen on to the fuel pump. At 6:50 in this video shows the installation of this clip.

why can't you use the OEM wiring?

You can, but we found its better to use everything in the Import Direct kit for reliability. The last thing you want is to have a wiring issues after installing a new pump or have the fuel gauge not work. Two things that can cause a new pump to fail (1. weak current, 2. running low on fuel and the pump overheats.)
