    Do you suppose this would be the same procedure for a 1993 Subaru Legacy wagon? Thumb up for the video. 👍

    Hey I really enjoy your video's very good and simple. I have a 2008 subaru legacy single cam 2.5 without turbo. My car is limp and I hooked up the machine and it says it's a pre-cat 02 sensor. It's just It's really limp like it doesn't want to go up a hill. So if that machine u hook up under the steering wheel, I'm sorry I don't know the name of that machine, but if it says that's the problem are those machines usually right?.. I don't know much about cars I just have that question, I hope you can give me a answer please and thanks

    My 2001 Subaru outback H6 just pulled Code PO 463. My fuel gauge has not been reading accurately for a long time and my check engine light has been coming on and off intermittently. I looked up the code and it says it's a fuel sensor, so does that mean I need to replace the entire fuel sending unit in my Subaru? I cannot imagine where else the fuel sensor would be, so I'm assuming it must be built into part of the fuel sending unit.. Thanks for putting up the video it's a tremendous help thank you

    Thankyou for the tutorial. Problem solved in my 2002 Legacy R2 series sedan.

    So if the cap is cracked, does that mean the fuel pump is still good or does that make the pump break also

    Hi DYI Guy I have a 97 Subaru Legacy L Wagon, does this tutorial match up the same with the early 2000 models? Also do you know of a good place to buy a quality fuel pump and filter? What is a good price to pay. Thanks! Really enjoyed you're video.

      Hello, Sorry for the late reply for some reason it went into spam. For that year it will be right behind the upper back seat in the trunk area rather then under the lower part of the back seat but the rest should be the same or very close. You will have to pull up or back the carpet in the cargo area on the same side. I ended up grabbing this one from a local junkyard. I want to say it was around 50$. Only had to replace a few of them and most of the time I have a few parts cars around to take it from. You can find some OEM ones on ebay for a decent price and come together with the filter.You're welcome, Glad we could help. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave us a comment. Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up/ like if you haven't already. Thanks

    Quick question, can a bad fuel pump cause random stalling, no start after filling tank and low idle RPMs?
    I picked up a 04 Outback with 250k. Starting to think either the pump or filter is going.

    Does this can happen in a forester ?

    • @TheDIYGuyDOTnet

      I want to say the older foresters had a similar fuel pump assembly but i could be wrong.

    Same location in the sedan models or in the trunk?

    • @TheDIYGuyDOTnet
      @TheDIYGuyDOTnet  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is in the same spot. The difference will be that you will need to remove the front two 12mm bolts (if I remember right) on the front of the lower seat. Then push down on the back part of the middle of the lower seat and slide froward to the front of the car. Then there will be 2-3 12mm bolts in the lower part of the upper seat. Remove those then lift upward on that upper seat and it should come loose. Changing the pump should be the same and then you just have to reinstall the seats. Just make sure there clipped into the clips.

    A couple of things to add: (and maybe you had done these things) 1. first, release the fuel pressure. 2. vacuum away any dirt that surrounds the assembly (I saw something like an egg shell, and then it went away in the next segment). 3. Possibly most important is to test for leaks before you put on the cover......

    • @TheDIYGuyDOTnet
      @TheDIYGuyDOTnet  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes releasing the fuel pressure is a good point. With this one with the broken cap the pressure bleeds off. There was an acorn there on the top side of the assembly. Yes an another good point to check for leaks before reinstalling the cover.

    • @taylorvos8189
      @taylorvos8189 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah< I just released the fuel pressure when I took the hoses loose from the pump.... not recommended.

    • @aks12345ize
      @aks12345ize 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How would you release the fuel pressure?

    • @bradt9350
      @bradt9350 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aks12345ize To release the fuel pressure, just disconnect the Electrical Connector on top of the pump (or pull the fuse or fuel pump relay) and then run the engine with it disconnected until it dies from lack of fuel... If it starts at all... It may not start with a bad fuel pump and complete lack of fuel pressure, but to avoid being sprayed with fuel or getting the car interior sprayed, relieve any pressure before pulling the fuel lines off of the fuel pump. Maybe lay a garbage bag down between the gas tank opening and the vehicle door opening so the dripping fuel doesn't stink up the car when you remove it from passenger area of the vehicle. More gas will drip out if/when you tilt it.

    My 2002 legacy GT limited has a po183 code for fuel temperature sensor A circut high input. I can't figure out what it is. If anybody knows where this is I would be very grateful.

      I'm assuming it's in the fuel pump assembly but I'm not sure.

    If you are replacing JUST the fuel pump ONLY on a 2000-2005 era Subaru... Make sure you WATCH THIS VIDEO @ 4:25:
    and be aware of the common problem these cars have with the crack in the 2 inch metal cap and O-ring... WATCH @ 4:25... in the video... or you will be chasing other problems and pulling the pump out twice... I read it in the blogs: www.subaruoutback.org/threads/sleeper-vdc.47896/page-30#post-1359809
    and then found it in this video... Thank you DIY GUY... Brad

      Yes, it is fixed. The replacement on didn't come with the snap on plastic pieces but we took them from the old one. Very easy to follow directions. Ours is a 2003 that had sat 10 years undriven
