    So helpful. $12.95 for a rebuild kit or $250+ to buy rebuilt! Your videos definitely give me some confidence to it do myself and a good excuse to teach my girls something. As always, nice job.

    Top work, keep it up. Go and invest in a brake nut spanner, usually a 10mm. Makes life easy and wont damage the hex.

    Great step by step video Jayson. Nice work mate. FYI - I have been linking mates to your channel who are working on shorties at the moment.......keep up the good work! Looking forward to the end product.

    Top series and we appreciate the work and effort that goes into making these tech videos. I am doing this very job now on my 1977 fj40. I have been to 3 large brake shops in Canberra and they cannot help me with a seal kit or front brake hoses. You did show the seal kit box but the resolution was a bit low to see the part number as your brakes look identical to mine - looked like Fujiura Ltd _4479-30028-j (I could not confirm the first part no digit). Oh also I found a supplier for the polishing discs you used on the Warn Lockers. No luck with the Bunnings. Cheers Steve

      I was watching your Video in the garage and the distance is why I got low resolution. I up'ed it to 720 and got the seal kit brand name as Fujiura 04479-30028-g. Off shopping now.

      Give Toolking a call for the polishing discs. They will be able to help you out. Feel free to send me photos of your build.

    When in Cairns, I found a tool store and bought a metric compact socket kit made by King Tony. It was my best purchase lifetime ever. Went to their website to see if I could find it, no longer available. It was the one in a plastic grey box with a carrying handle. Must have used that kit a thousand times if not more in the past twenty years.

      Yes your right mate, I'm a big fan of King Tony tools, I've using them for years. If you give the guys a www.toolking.com.au a call they can fix you up with any King Tony stuff you need.

    Did you re use the square cut seal in between the split caliper halves? The FSM states not to split them so most kits don't come with that seal. Once those seals are old, hard and compressed they're unlikely to make a perfect seal again. They might seem ok but over time when the brakes heat and cool, this seal can fail.

      @40ChannelCruiser  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Scott, thanks for that, I did re-use them. But put small amount of sealant grease on them before putting back together. May have taken a risk but the seals where still soft and protruded slightly higher feel confident, but will make sure I keep an eye on him. Worst case scenario. I'll just replace them.

      Might as well get some posted before you install the calipers, they're only a few bucks.

      Thanks again Scott For bringing that to my attention. And pushing me to get it done, only $3.50 for all four and 1 mintue of my time. Something to take note off if the channel seals a missing out of your kit. Alll Done.

      $3.50 and a few mins is better than slowly degrading brakes and having to make a mess and re-bleed everything later!
      I wish I had someone looking over my shoulder and pointing out all the little things I miss, might be frustrating but would pay off in the long run!

    Great work you've done there. I just removed my calipers as well. Does the kit you show in pic contains boots and retainer clips as well?
