    Hi Terry, thanks for taking the time to create your videos. I am planning discs as part of my Fj40 restoration. I have located a 1983 HJ60 front axle and am really hoping I can make it work on my 1975 dual circuit drum brake 40 series. I am in the UK and new 60 series spares are easier to find than 40 so future maintenance should be easier. Hopefully I won't be buying an axle I don't need. That's the plan. Thanks Daniel

      Thanks for the kind words Daniel, I sincerely appreciate it. Sounds like your project is coming along nicely. I can’t speak for certain on the 60 series axle, but somewhere in my mind I thought the spring perches were in a different location. I might be confusing this with the rear axle as well so as I said I’m not certain. Either way, it should be easy enough to move the perches if they are an issue. Have fun with your build. Cheers😎👍

      Thank you mate, I appreciate you your kind words and for spending the time watching. I had an 80 Series for about 25years so it was great to see there was not much difference in the 45’s and 60’s (thank goodness😅). Episode II (out next Friday) has some clanger challenges that I have not had before. Again, thank you for watching 😎👍

      @@JafffaAdventures Good stuff Terry. Following this resto project with a great deal of interest. Before moving to the Gold Coast, I lived in Yeronga (Brisbane).
      Not far from me a guy had this restored FJ45 Troopy. The rear canopy/sides were veneered wood, reminiscent of the 'Woodie' style vehicles of yester year. It looked so damn good, I couldn't help but look and admire every time I saw it.

    Hi Terry I really appreciate your video I learned so many things, however I had to ask why haven’t you replaced the complete 60 series differential on the frame? Can it be replaced as it is on fj 40 frame. Many thanks and again great video.

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your kind words Abdullah, I sincerely appreciate it. I’m glad you found some useful information here, my next video on the FJ45 build will be coming out next Friday, so stay tuned for that one.
      There are several reasons I did not use a complete 60 series diff. Firstly, the spring perches are in a different location. This would mean having to cut them off the 60 series housing and relocate them slightly inboard (I think around 25mm or so). Secondly, the 60 series diff is a little wider, about 2.75”. That’s not a lot but I wanted the front and rear tyres to track true. Thirdly, the diff pinion flange, also known as the companion flange can have a slightly different bolt pattern between the 40 and 60 depending on your year model. If they are different, that means your 40 series tailshaft will not bolt up to the 60 companion flange without modification. I trust this is helpful mate. Cheers😎👍

    First thing you do with those calipers is chuck them and get some from an LN106 hilux or equivalent. Your piston sizes are of equal size giving even and greater pressure. On a 60 we also add an 80 series dual diaphragm booster for an amazing transformation

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m using a 80 series dual master cylinder coupled to hydroboost which runs off the power steering pump as per a later video in the series. Unmatched stopping force. Have one in my 57 Chev and it can put you through the windscreen👍😎
