Netflix could have made a movie (one needs to be made!)about the real life British/Indian SOE Agent Noor Inyat Khan who worked with the resistance in Europe and was later betrayed to the Nazis and died in a concentration camp....but she was not an American and was a Sufi Muslim, so I suppose that made her unsuitable!!!
I enjoyed the movie. I think it was Tyler Perry’s best movie. The people that are hating on this movie are doing so because they have their own agenda. and if you’re going to do a review, make sure you watch the whole damn movie.
People don't like it because the actors/producers have come out saying how incredibly brave and awesome these women were. It's clearly an agenda pushing movie in and of itself. The irony is that if delivering mail is considered an impressive achievement for them, kind of says a lot about their aptitude and abilities. Maybe don't create a movie to overstate the importance of a minor contribution on the basis of race if you don't want people pushing back?
@@GoldenbanjoDJ People don't like being reminded how endemic and vicious anti-black racism was during those days. Many members of the so called greatest generation had a lot in common with the nazis who were their so called enemies.
It seems you didn’t watch the movie with a correct analysis. The movie did show and tell of the women put in harms way, travelled to said location without escort, and not to be a spoiler alert, but there were several circumstances they had to endure that put them all in harms ways to include the work conditions. Next, lives were lost from the group. Others had attempted this task and could not do this within the time frame given. They were not supported at all by many and frankly mocked and denied access to supports that could have helped but purposefully chose not to. The video shows heroism because when humans are put in undesirable positions and they rise above, to do what most people will not or can not perform, that is heroism. So, typically I do not respond to ignorance but you seemed to need this schooling (if that’s a word). When critiquing a film, do not allow your lack of exposure to get in the way. I think you came in with a prejudices mindset and that serves no purpose. The last part of your comment about white men was pointless. White men at the end saluted their efforts. So, you trying to use this film to divide people who really as times have gone on, are caring more for or tolerating each others missteps beyond hate, your last comment, I repeat, was pointless. So, sorry for people like you! Filled with hate and ignorance, let’s see how far that gets you in life.
@aniholictv I love your channel and you're 98% spot on when you review but i have to disagree. It seems by the comments that only white people are offended. Yes, there are great movies about the soldiers who fought and the heroics that carried these men and women. But war is fought on many fronts and one movie acknowledges black women who were given an impossible task while enduring racism, sexism and bias in order to help boost the morale of soldiers who were fighting for their country, family and their lives to get hope and comfort from something as small as a letter is not woke. If this was a made up story then yes but it was a true story and shouldn't downplay these women's efforts. If you simply watch it you will see outstanding acting performances especially from Kerry Washington. My uncle was killed in WW2, my grandfather in the Korean war and many of my family served and they loved this movie. I agree there are a lot of woke agendas in Hollywood being shoved down our throats but I don't feel that this was.
@bigzaeya9881: "Woke" is the new version of anything that challenges mainstream American or western "values" or call out the hypocrisy and double standards is "communist inspired." We have been down this sorry road again and again before.
I sooooo agree with this, and plus this was just an inspiring movie overall and the fact that it was based on a true story and majority of the it was accurate makes it so much more powerful. This is history, it shouldn’t be an agenda and this story isn’t popular so shout out to Tyler Perry putting this story out there bc what they did was so important for the war efforts. Watching this in general should be an inspiration to show what humans can overcome and that we shouldn’t repeat history again by treating others wrongly. I can’t see how a historical movie can be any type of agenda if it really happened🤷🏻♀️ whatever great movie and I’m glad I got to learn about this awesome unit 😇
So many people in the comments don't understand that the movie was made because it pushes a narrative that would appeal to them. Is delivering mail important? Yep. Is delivering mail "heroic?" Umm, not particularly, at least not in context with what the other people involved in the war were going through. The women who died had died in a rollover. You can argue that what makes them heroic is the they diligently did their job everyday, but so did other people in London who walked through the bombed out streets everyday to continue life as usual. Netflix is known for pushing DEI. That's why this movie was made, because it appeals to people who feel minorities aren't represented in movies enough, so instead of allowing this to naturally occur over the course of time, they funnel in as many minorities as possible (even re-writing classics like Disney did) just for the sake of saying, "Look at how diverse we are!" The truth is, that outside of a few groups like the Tuskegee Airmen, African Americans didn't hold frontline roles because of ACTUAL racist policies. That's not to diminish their contributions in other roles, it's just pointing out that to make a movie like this is just trying to shove more DEI down the throats of the public, and diminishes the actual heroic actions of frontline soldiers. We are so broad and loose as what encompases being a hero these days, it diminishes the meaning of the word.
It's so sad so much time has passed and still "some" people have an attitude! They did well in the war effort, yet still the colour of your skin has to be picked out ?
You really should have at least done a Google search on this story. You casual disregard for what was going on in America at that time is sadly, typical. Typical for Americans, not foreigners who at least value history.
We 'foreigners' do understand the history. We look at the absurdity very objectively, actually. No one with perspective gives a fuck about some people sorting through letters. Doesn't matter what race or sex they are.
Did research, its an overblown movie done once again to suck the balls of black america by patronizing to you guys by overemphasizing basic goofy bullshit, They sorted mail who fucking cares jesus CHRIST if you guys focused on being better instead of constantly celebrating mediocrity you would have such a inferiority complex as a race.

@ThomasHoward-yj3te: You should that save question for white Hollywood. And for the Russians and Chinese...If it wasn't for black people, none of the stories of black people playing any roles other than happy slaves or stoic and grateful civil rights marchers would ever be told. It is not necessarily something that is done out of patriotism or altruism. Honest military history is often very ugly.
