I'm an introvert and have social anxiety. I've also never been crazy about having a huge wedding. However, if my partner truly wanted that, then I'd do it for them.

Not to mention when Julien posted about it, it was basically "we got married" or something similar and now theirs is too. One of the many differences is that Ryland and Shane felt the need to give a play by play as it happened whereas Jenna and Julien got married just because they love each other and had a very private wedding. But if you really watch their videos together, you can tell that Ryland is truly actually in love with Shane for who he is and accepts him in all of his disgustingness (seeing as how Shane loves to scratch his asshole and smell his fingers after, doesn’t shower for literal weeks at a time due to depression, always wearing the same clothes that Shane never washes, etc- totally not judging bc this is also me and I want my own Ryland) whereas Shane does not. His love for Ryland is very conditional. He constantly talks about wishing Ryland had a vagina and having dreams about it and how that would make Ryland “perfect” and other super inappropriate things you should never say to or wish upon your partner… It’s like he just takes Ryland for granted and uses him to decorate his house and stuff but doesn’t actually love him. When Ryland has always been head over heels in love with Shane for whatever reason. I cant stand how EVERYTHING has to please Shane and shane only. Rylans has no say, if shane doesnt want it, it wont happen. I don't remember where it was stated, but Ryland made a comment that Shane always wants more dogs and then Ryland ends up taking care of them. Shane wants a child because they are something new, they'll be an accessory for him until he grows bored or the baby doesn't bring in enough revenue for his channel. Then he will probably ignore the child while Ryland raises them alone.

I was in a shithouse engagement for 2/3 years and most of that time was spent with me trying to make it work after he cheated on me shortly after proposing. I finally called it off and couldn’t be happier. I spent a long time like Ryland begging for our wedding, or even a proper celebrated engagement but he he had no interest whatsoever and it made me feel horribly stuck- why men propose when they’re against marriage is beyond me but watching this I’m happy that I didn’t stay and settle for an elopement that neither of us would have wanted. Kind of the same here. Except I wasn't engaged as long. I spent years we dated though doing the same. I got pregnant. He proposed a month before i delivered. My daughter was only 2 months old when I called the relationship off with him and gave his mom the ring back. And only did so bc I didn't wanna keep it nor did I wanna come off a spiteful to his mother at the time I really appreciated and respected her. And pawning it just took time I didn't care to waste lol. It wasn't anything spectacular or anything. But I honestly couldn't be happier.

Due to my grandfather having a stroke we did a court house wedding only had 8 people attend because of Covid then last year in 2022 we had our wedding wedding party which was so much fun. I think what makes this so depressing is I can SEE what they’re going for. Like they’re so carefree and in love they couldn’t wait and fuck the pomp and ceremony and let’s add to our tattoo collections! And IF they were those people the reaction would be the exact opposite. This is like a shotgun wedding after a one night stand, they both just want it over with. What they’re attempting to achieve makes this so much worse than if they didn’t at all.

this is legit so sad? like liiisten a courthouse wedding doesn't have to be a bad thing. my brother and his wife were married in a similar way with just immediate family present, but neither of them WANTED a big wedding. then we went to a local park and took photographs. a while later there was a "reception" at a family member's house. it was close knit, happy, and romantic. but THIS? it's just upsetting both because ryland DID want a big wedding and because this just seems like a way for shane to prove that he does love him. like???
For the record, I didn't do a court house wedding, but everyone has to go through this process to obtaining a marriage license. The whole big wedding day that follows is just a fancy ceremony based on getting one signature to make it official. I've been through the process of a big wedding, as well as been witness to court house weddings. Everyone is just as fumbly and nervous as Shane and Ryland were. The court employees laugh with you and make silly jokes about "signing your life away" etc.. the whole process, whether you just go for the license, or fully get married, there's a lot of nerves and excitement surrounding the vows and signing. That being said, they did leave a little more awkwardness in there lol.. but for the most part its just how it is! Ps. Adam I am so very sorry about your sweet Tyler. Sending you nothing but love. ❤

First of all, I’m glad they didn’t get finger tattoos because yeah with those the ink would fall right out. Second, I always wonder what someone is thinking when they choose to keep in such cringe moment(s) in a vlog. “It’s been seven years so yeah if he wants to run away now.” “You can go pee. Yeah and if you run away I’ll just… I’ll be embarrassed… in front of everyone.” Like wow. I know we don’t see every moment of their lives and relationship but I feel like the things they don’t edit out and allow us to see is very telling. Third, I don’t really care that much for Ryland (his family seems very cool tho) but I just feel really bad for him that he’s had to settle for this as his wedding. I feel a little bad for ryland, but getting eloped and having that ceremony later is common and not that big of a deal. I'm so so soooo late to this but my husband and I are really not social people and we don't have a big friend group but I wanted a little wedding so we did it on our farm with 15 people mainly family my mother did the ceremony and we cooked all the food and took photos on our phones was the best day and everything was beautiful it's not hard to do a small private wedding if you have anxiety my husband is not great infront of people but he managed for the day because he loves me we didn't want to kiss infront of the family so we downed a drink but he was so happy by the end he kept kissing and hugging me I was amazed

I totally forgot that Shane and Ryland just got married last year. I don’t know why it felt like it happened FOREVER ago now. Guess it was just wasn’t that memorable. But as much as Ryland annoys me, I feel for him. I got married in November last year and my husband is someone who doesn’t like being in huge crowds or the center of attention. But he knew that it was SO important to me to have my dream wedding and not only went along with everything he helped plan! He would come home with ideas for everything and would get just as excited as I did when we looked at venues, talked to photographers, taste tested food, or worked on our wedding playlist. He stayed up late helping me with decorations, and even helped me make my bouquet. All because he saw how much it meant to me. Planning a wedding is so stressful but it can really bring two people together to find the way that feels best to celebrate love. I couldn’t imagine being in Ryland’s shoes. Shane’s feelings on being so insecure are valid, but (if you truly believe you found the person you’re going to spend your life with) you only get to have a wedding once.

I was in a shithouse engagement for 2/3 years and most of that time was spent with me trying to make it work after he cheated on me shortly after proposing. I finally called it off and couldn’t be happier. I spent a long time like Ryland begging for our wedding, or even a proper celebrated engagement but he he had no interest whatsoever and it made me feel horribly stuck- why men propose when they’re against marriage is beyond me but watching this I’m happy that I didn’t stay and settle for an elopement that neither of us would have wanted. Kind of the same here. Except I wasn't engaged as long. I spent years we dated though doing the same. I got pregnant. He proposed a month before i delivered. My daughter was only 2 months old when I called the relationship off with him and gave his mom the ring back. And only did so bc I didn't wanna keep it nor did I wanna come off a spiteful to his mother at the time I really appreciated and respected her. And pawning it just took time I didn't care to waste lol. It wasn't anything spectacular or anything. But I honestly couldn't be happier.

this is legit so sad? like liiisten a courthouse wedding doesn't have to be a bad thing. my brother and his wife were married in a similar way with just immediate family present, but neither of them WANTED a big wedding. then we went to a local park and took photographs. a while later there was a "reception" at a family member's house. it was close knit, happy, and romantic. but THIS? it's just upsetting both because ryland DID want a big wedding and because this just seems like a way for shane to prove that he does love him. like???
For the record, I didn't do a court house wedding, but everyone has to go through this process to obtaining a marriage license. The whole big wedding day that follows is just a fancy ceremony based on getting one signature to make it official. I've been through the process of a big wedding, as well as been witness to court house weddings. Everyone is just as fumbly and nervous as Shane and Ryland were. The court employees laugh with you and make silly jokes about "signing your life away" etc.. the whole process, whether you just go for the license, or fully get married, there's a lot of nerves and excitement surrounding the vows and signing. That being said, they did leave a little more awkwardness in there lol.. but for the most part its just how it is!

Proposing on both knees seems more like begging don't reject me. All of this is odd and I don't understand why you need a court ceremony and then a "big" wedding. Just do one, you only need to do one, unless there is some kind of legal things they need that being married provides and they need it quickly for some reason.

Never was a big fan of Ryland and was an ex fan of Shane, but this legal marriage seems so different than what Ryland would’ve wanted, which kinda makes me feel bad for him. But hey, if he’s happy, who are we to judge? I hope he gets the wedding he wants later
It's hard to feel bad for Ryland.. all he has done is defend Shane's behavior. And we all know what Shane has said and done. I get standing by your partner. But you're not getting my sympathy.

I think the real reason Shane doesn't want a wedding is because typically they are attended by friends and family. I think he doesn't want the fact he doesn't have many friends so clearly highlighted in front of everyone
I'm so so soooo late to this but my husband and I are really not social people and we don't have a big friend group but I wanted a little wedding so we did it on our farm with 15 people mainly family my mother did the ceremony and we cooked all the food and took photos on our phones was the best day and everything was beautiful it's not hard to do a small private wedding if you have anxiety my husband is not great infront of people but he managed for the day because he loves me we didn't want to kiss infront of the family so we downed a drink but he was so happy by the end he kept kissing and hugging me I was amazed

Shane is his real name however, his real last name is not Dawson. He got that from Titanic and Dawson creek.

I totally forgot that Shane and Ryland just got married last year. I don’t know why it felt like it happened FOREVER ago now. Guess it was just wasn’t that memorable. But as much as Ryland annoys me, I feel for him. I got married in November last year and my husband is someone who doesn’t like being in huge crowds or the center of attention. But he knew that it was SO important to me to have my dream wedding and not only went along with everything he helped plan! He would come home with ideas for everything and would get just as excited as I did when we looked at venues, talked to photographers, taste tested food, or worked on our wedding playlist. He stayed up late helping me with decorations, and even helped me make my bouquet. All because he saw how much it meant to me.
Planning a wedding is so stressful but it can really bring two people together to find the way that feels best to celebrate love.
I couldn’t imagine being in Ryland’s shoes. Shane’s feelings on being so insecure are valid, but (if you truly believe you found the person you’re going to spend your life with) you only get to have a wedding once.
