    This is a yellow card for me. Even when it's an unsportsmanship foul, it has some intention on playing the ball. Not a non-card for me, but of course this is not a red card foul.

      I feel like it was some sort of exhibition game, like the stakes weren't too high. I can see a YC to tone down the vibe of the game at that point, but its a borderline YC for that foul. in a normal setting, NO WAY is that a RC.

      It’s not for the foul so much as the constant unsportsmanlike conduct but I agree with you it should v been a yellow card for the foul, If he’s running about daft like an idiot he could of booked him again for his next foul and he was gone, I don’t think it’s right a ref sends someone off cos he thinks the guy was going to keep doing it but also it’s there way of getting control of the game before someone really gets hurt

    This is an absurd red card. The tempers seemed to slowly increase between both teams.
    If the ref acted one minute before by gathering both captains, and telling them to calm down, it would have been more efficient and sufficient. Despite to do that, he wrongly penalized one team

      He did appear to be only attempting to sweep the legs of the attacker, so I get what concerned the referee. But I also would have given only a yellow - short of some unusual context that wasn't captured by this footage (history of the carded player jawing/taunting/threatening the fouled player).

      What's your thoughts on number 3's tackle 10seconds into the video? For me from those 2 tackles alone it's minimum yellow and a good talking to, if that hasn't already happened elsewhere like you're eluding to. He's pushing the limits with every tackle, if the ref let's it keep going it will get worse.

  • @Thederbyshireref
    @Thederbyshireref 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    i think the reason that he was sent off for a straight red was because he had multiple warnings and continued to do so i referee myself so i can see where the ref is coming from but normally this is a yellow

    • @Samir-dy6le
      @Samir-dy6le 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even with warnings, a similar foul is never worth a red card. If he had warned him continuously before, he should have just given him a yellow before. The only way I can see a red card given in a similar context is when an unsportsmanlike behavior is clearly seen from the player like swearing, pushing the opponent, clapping the referee sarcastically, etc. But then again, that's why this is an amateur league and he's an amateur referee.

    The rules state "Reckless” means that the player has acted with complete disregard of the danger to, or consequences for, his opponent:a player who plays in a reckless manner shall be cautioned." i.e. yellow card, clearly this situation here. But, we don't know if this was the player's second caution, an automatic red. On the other hand, there referee, who was, after all a lot closer to the play than we armchair folks, might have apply "Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent:a player who uses excessive force shall be sent off." Refs have wide latitude. (I was a FIFA ref for 10 years.) We discussed the application of those two rules over and over in clinics. It's rarely clear-cut

    Intentional trip. He rotates his body 90 degrees and plants his foot in front of the other player's and puts both hands on his back to push him down. He wasn't trying to play the ball otherwise he wouldn't have turned his body 90 degrees before he initiates contact. A lot of context is not available and that could have changed a lot, but just by this video, it was chippy already and the ref was letting too much go and needed to get the game back under control. I think I would have gone yellow and issued a warning to both teams that this ends now or penalties and probably cards are going to come rapidly.

    There was no intent to win the ball. Depending on what was developing before the video, for instance, if the player had been warned, it does make a difference. On seeing it w/o that info a yellow and a verbal warning might have been appropriate, but the intent to trip? There is no question about that.

    That is not a straight red card. It's hardly a yellow.

    that isnt even a yellow, u can tell this ref doesn't know what he's doing just by the way he sent him off.

    • @infinitycauchymean
      @infinitycauchymean 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be a yellow just for UB or for PI too. Maybe this was #3's third foul. Definitely not a red though. No SFP or VC, no spitting, biting, and all that nonsense here.
