I’ve been tuning EFI vehicles for 15 years now. Used multiple tuners and softwares. HPTuners is a very powerful tool to tune vehicles. There really isn’t anything else on the market anymore that can tune as many different platforms and vehicles than HPT. The number of parameters that you can tap into is pretty incredible to say the least. The learning curve is fairly tough though and can be overwhelming for anyone that doesn’t understand how engines and EFI works and also have the patience to essentially learn a new language… although most of my tuning has been with GM vehicles, I recently got into Mopar stuff. My SRT Jeep came with the diablo tuner. The device has some cool features. But the fact is its only able to slightly alter a handful of parameters. Probably about 5% of the tables you can access with HPT(and thats being generous). That being said, there is virtually no learning curve with the diablo sport. Its easy to use for a novice. There’s not much risk of seriously screwing stuff up either. So there’s no onesize fits all tuner. I know which one i’m staying with
Thanks for the input! This was my take away... "Probably about 5% of the tables you can access with HPT (and thats being generous)." What is the percentage of tables a professional tuner can access using DS (CMR)? If DS-T2 and a custom tune can safely run a motor at 700whp and I can alter basic stuff like tire size, rear gear ratio, fan temps, multiple FUEL tunes, all while enjoying the perks of a data screen, I'm good with that. I respect the tuners and all their knowledge, but I also want control of basic stuff in an older car on a Sunday.
The biggest difference is you can tune your own car with HPTuners (tuning and logging software in a bundle comes with the hardware) but you can't with Diablo as they only sell the CMR software to licensed shops.
Great presentation! I'm an old guy, I had Diablo about 12 yrs ago but it wasn't as invasive as it is now I just bought HP tuners but it's mad confusing so I'm thinking about going with Diablo cause I like the ability to see what's going on real time. I Love the was u laid it out
This was a really great video. I was looking for information like this to decide on which tuner to go with for my C7 Z06 and after watching this I went with Diablosport. I am very pleased with the decision I made. Again, thank you
I was actually considering selling my Diablo InTune 3 but after watching your video I am now reconsidering. Great info! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Love my Diablosport Trinity. It’s the old t1000 but I’ve had it on three different vehicles and no problems. When I modify or change anything I can tune appropriately. With 100 thousand miles on my 2013 mustang it still runs like new and I have had no issues. Diablosport Trinity is an integral component if you are wanting to modify you vehicle in any way. I’ve used Diablosport for over 10 years and it is the best tuner I’ve ever used. My buddy was using bullydog trying to save a little money and fried his throttle body and it cost over $1000 to fix. I had my first coyote tuned in Del Ray Florida on their dyno. From there I just email them a data log anytime I need to check the tune or tune a different car and they will email a tune that is spot on. You have to pay for a license to tune more than one vehicle but that’s normal and cheaper than get a tuner for each vehicle. The people in Del Ray are knowledgeable and customer service is excellent. If I buy another tuner it WILL be Diablosport. The old one I have won’t work on these newer models I don’t think but I’ve gotten great service from the two Trinity 1000s I own so if I decide to buy a new car I will be buying a Trinity 2 because it makes you vehicle much more fun and faster not to mention mpg gains you will realize. It’s a no brainer? HP for all out race cars maybe but not for my daily! I can change the tune myself, safely and in a couple of minutes. What’s not to like?
Thanks for taking the time to elaborate. I wanna learn tuning and the first thing ill do is get a license. I have several cars to practice on from 1999 benz E320, 2000 Camry, 2003 E320, 2003 accord v6, 2007 BMW 5 series E60 id like to practice on before I go on and do it for potential customers.
So HPT is like owning an iphone while Diablosport or Trinity 1000s is like owning an Android, giving one more flexibility and choice and making their own thing.
I did dyno tuning for many years. HP Tuners has always been my goto. I used Diablo sport for many years before HP and still have a couple chip programmers. HP is more profitable and overall better for tuning.
Is HPT's (software) better than DS (CMR)? I keep reading on different forums that HPT is more capable, because Mopar coding language is very different than other manufacturers. Nothing wrong with tuners/shops making more money, but for someone NOT needing the very best or most capable I think DS is fine. Saving me a few hundred overtime.
Finally a clear and straight to the point comparison between those tuners. Now everyone can make an informed decision on which one to use! I now know what I want. Diablo, because my truck is a street truck and I want the capability to change between 93, E85, and race fuels on the fly. Thank you so much for this informative video!
Appreciated you getting into the weeds!! Have an ‘06 300C 5.7, by end of year I’ll be upgrading cam to CC 274 cam kit from AMS racing, long tub headers w/ hi-flo catted mids, CAI, and high volume oil pump. Came with a mid muffler delete, just replaced timing set & rod bearings. Your video helped educate and helped me make a tuning decision.
Been watching for a long time now really surprised you’re not at 250k+ subs at least always informative and good production on the vids keep it up man you’ll be at that if not more in no time
I’m 55yrs old and been racing since high school in the 80’s. I built cars from the ground up. Mopar and Chevy. I’m tired of building cars and engines out of parts and Jegs website. I decided to buy a modern muscle car. Just found a 2015 one owner Challenger RT Plus with only 22,000 miles. Always kept in a garage under cover. A older gentleman brought it for him and his wife to take Sunday drives. It’s a 5.7 with the 6 speed manual, this car is like new. Not a mark on it. It’s Sublime green. I had a 1971 Plymouth 340 Duster this same color that I raced in high school and a few years after. This Challenger reminds me of my 12 second Duster. I’m ready to have a car that I can just tune with a computer. Not change jets in the carb or use a timing light. I want to install long tube headers, a cam to work with a Whipple Supercharger. Some bigger injectors if needed. A set of drag radials just for the track. With some narrow 4 inch drag wheels in the front. It will be ready to race right off the trailer. But I can go home and put street tires on and take the wife on a weekend trip to Gatlinburg TN. If I can keep the car above 10:50’s I should not need a cage at the tracks around here. I’m a Carb guy. I been worried about how to tune a modern car. I know nothing about EFI and computers. Sounds like the Diablo Tuner is my answer. I can set the tuner for race fuel at the track and push a few buttons and run the car on 93. I did a lot of research and the 5.7 Hemi seems to be bulletproof. If I would happen to hurt the motor I can get a new long block from Jegs or Summit very reasonable. Whipple has a base tune that comes with their superchargers. I can switch pulleys to make more power. And if the transmission breaks I will just find one in a salvage yard and have it rebuilt. Just keep it in the trailer along with a new clutch. My trailer is a two rail so it has the middle open. Kinda works like a lift. I can slide under the trailer and change the trans or clutch if it’s a race weekend. I have changed several clutch’s on this trailer without putting the car on Jackstands. I’m excited to know there is a tuner out there that doesn’t require a laptop. I think I will enjoy racing in the modern muscle class. The Challenger was my pick because the Camaro was just to tight to work on. Great video and thanks for breaking it down for an old drag racer like me.🇺🇸🦅🏁
Thank you very much , even though I’ve been using diablosport since 2012 in my v6 , I’m definitely going for it with my 6.4 now . They definitely make it easy for the users
Right on time with this one here Steph cause that's my next move although you talking about Mopar lol get my Chevy tuned. So I can get a better time at the track 💪 💪 can't wait to see what step up that makes her on 93.... 🤙
Wow nice video . So I’m safe with the 93 tune from Diablo . I have a 2016 Challenger RT plus. With 5.7 . Shorty headers. 3” cat-back exhaust and 87mm jet performance TB . And always run 93 octane. But now go with the T2 or T3 tuner . Thank you Sr
That’s what I would like to know. I have both and was going back to Diablo for the convenience to switch on the fly. This carrying around a laptop everywhere and I have this thing in the window already
Wow! Thank you so much for a very informative presentation. I am confident I am ready to choose and purchase a tuner platform. I have seen numerous vids on tuners and, before now, I really didn't understand and assumed there were critical functions of one over the other. It all now makes sense. Thank you. Well done.
good info man!! right when Im thinking of getting a tune and wondering which company I should go with. No one really has gone into detail, especially for mopars, like this so I appreciate it very much. I can see now why you went with Diablo
Great video I still can’t believe how you were able to fit all that information in such a short video. Thanks for explaining the pros and cons. It helps a lot with people looking to do the same kinds of mods 👍🏻
Every car or truck I’ve owned , have wanted to make go faster . Money is short supply for me so it was always what I wanted to never really got to do .
Outstanding video! Appreciate you sharing your experience and insight - super helpful for sure. Don't worry about getting "nerdy" the more technical the better!
Great video! Awesome explanation of the differences between Diablo and HPTuners. This really helped me to decide on which one to invest in. Thank You!!
Hp is far superior IMO , hardware is a lot better , flashing is 10x faster , logger is 100x faster with more PID to log with great channels for logging purposes . More tables in the trans file and if you need to add more tables you can use user define compared to sending a request and hoping they can do it .
For someone who cares for that stuff like professional tuners, HP is the right choice. It all comes down to what you prefer. Both get the job done and have the ability to custom tune you car. For the regular person without serious mods, Diablo is probably the better option.
The only other difference is what other thigs that can be turned off. My I3 diablo could not turn of the EGR after doing a delete on my 5.7. Also could not turn off rear O2 sensors. Had to take it to a tuner for those items. Would love to keep using my diablo but it no longer works anymore as it wont boot up.
I too am experienced in both and chose hptuners over diablosport. Diablosport is good but, there would be occasions where my diablosport would glitch and unnsuccesfully write tunes. Other than that its good. But its scary for sure
HP tuning may be better for your race car but Diablosport is safe for non-tuners to use. I’m sure HP is more tunable but that’s the reason most won’t be choosing it. You can really grenade an engine fast with a tune that isn’t just right and if a novice has the ability to change A/F and ignition timing it is a recipe for disaster. I’m not up on the HP stuff so maybe it’s safe but if I want to change my tune is it doable (safely)? I don’t want to have to chase down my tuner and his dyno for a little tweak now and then for engine mods or weather changes or moving to the north from the gulf. I’m the past we just change carb jets and idle bleeds, and move the distributor a little to adjust for changes in fuel, weather or and modifications done. This is easier but it’s so easy an engine can be destroyed in seconds. All I have to do with a Diablosport Trinity (if I decide to change anything)is datalog and email it and receive an update tune that is safe and effective. The canned tunes that are loaded for your car are ok but you can get as good as any dynotune with the datalog capabilities by emailing them to Diablosport and letting them tweak it for your climate and driving style.
I like the explanation bro. With myself being familiar with tuning very well, you broke it down well for people with little knowledge of tuning. 😀 I want to run my Subaru against you when I get it out the shop. You down?
Great Video, looking into Diablo for my LT Gen V 6.2L and was wondering if I can turn on/off the VATs, AFM, and DOD (all off now)? I don't have to worry about emissions, had the system programmed by another company and when I am ready I want to be able to do these things myself without going into the learning curve of HP Tuners.
i have a 2011 Escalade ESV, all I really wana do is "unlock" "wake up" my 6.2 , might upgrade the cam when i do AFM delete, might ad headers later....im looking at the Edge Evolution CTS3 to learn about tuning and monitoring with my ESV, is this a good choice? anything I should know? I am confused on people saying you have to pay for licenses to tune with Diablo but I dont see anything about that on the website, is it like HP's credits system?
Hey Steph, Your 2015 Hellcat is awesome! I really enjoy your videos. I was wondering if you could tell me what lowering Springs you used for that car. I also have a 2015 hellcat and would love for it to look and sit like your car. Thank you in advance for your help
I'm swapping a 2014 392 6.4 srt in to my gasser 2010 ram 2500 and I need to tune it can I just put a 2014 srt diablosport tuner in it or will it not work
So I had a question I recently plugged in a diablosport ex trinity on my 2015 challenger hellcat manual transmission i used the custom stock tune setting I did my first pass the car runs horrible off 92 octane I tried both 91 tunes and customs stock tune it all does the same It bogs out at 5,000 RPM so i rest it to the factory setting but it immediately gave me a bunch of check engine light codes I deleted them all but p0601 will not go away and my car still bogs out at high RPMs I never had any issues with my hellcat I always redlined at 6,200 RPM and never had an issue for the year I’ve own the car up till just now after plugging in this device I really regret using Diablo sport tuner I feel like I rely screw something up Is there anything I could do to save myself the expensive situation this device had caused ? I talked to diablosport customer service but they just told me to update the device and log the passes which I did I’m really just trying to get my car to normal So I could try something new If you have any suggestions please lmk thank you
Hey with the Diablo tuner. I wanna keep my 5.7 at the 87 octane. But wanna take off MDS change the fan run time to 190 temp instead of 220. Tire size change. And take off the govner. I really really would like to know this before i buy it. I have an 08 300c. Please let me know. Im looking at the i3 tuner the 400 dollar one! Pleaee please get back to me !!!
Hey, Stephen. Great video! I really appreciate you took the time to go into some important details. I was hoping you could give me some insight on the following: I just ordered the DS T2 Platinum for my 2016 Charger HC. I'm not interested in any custom tunes at the moment, however I would like to install DS 93 Octane canned tune from the device just for a little "pep." But, I also have the Pedalbox currently installed. Obviously, with a custom tune I have the ability to enable/disable the throttle boost. But I don't believe that I'll have that ability with a canned tune - as it's already pre-installed, right? Therefore, would I need to remove my Pedalbox in order to install the DS canned tune, or can I keep the PB and also install the canned tune as well? I'm hearing things about overloading and stacking components together which doesn't sound very good. Either way, any insight that you can provide would be highly appreciated. Many thanks, Bro 👊🏾
@Jeffro I ended up getting a custom ECM/TCM tune, along with a pulley swap and bigger injectors. But yes, I still have my PedalBox installed - as it adds a few extra volts to my throttle system. Didn't really need to keep it, but I already bought it and didn't lose anything in the process.
Yo man I just got a DiabloSport Trinity 2 and nobody around me tunes with them and I need a custom tune. I used the Diablo Tune that's a 93 OCTANE TUNE and put on a JLT cold air intake and I'm still running lean. Can I adjust the air fuel ratio etc myself and richen it up?
If I have an unlocked PCM from Diablo, and I have HP Tuners, can I tune my truck? Or do I have to have an unlocked PCM from HP Tuners? 2021 Ram 1500 5.7L e-tourque.
This was a much needed video for people who cant decide between the 2 tuners. Your next video should be on supporting mods when you add hp and e85 to mopars. I think people should know its more than just gaining hp but making your car capable to handle that hp.

Great detailed video bro! 💯💯
This was a fantastic video. Great information!
Love your videos very informative
Great info. Really appreciate you.
I have the Diablo sport and love it. It’s really easy to use. If you start doing more mods to your engine you’ll might want to get the hp tuners also.
As a former professional tuner for 17 years HP is superior
Great video 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💯💯💯💯💯
Yo before I finish this vid I want to say great job bro👏🏾👏🏾 like honestly great vid 🤝
I like the explanation bro. With myself being familiar with tuning very well, you broke it down well for people with little knowledge of tuning. 😀 I want to run my Subaru against you when I get it out the shop. You down?

STEF TAKE THE TAGS OFF AND RACE THE CAR AT THE TRACK ROADRACE AND ROLL RACE
Good video just what I wanted to know
Great explanation!!!
Milo!!!……Second!!!💯✊🏿🏁🏁
💪👍💯
I find it interesting you choose to talk about tuning instead of the race you had to back out of with street speed 717, that ass whooping was on deck.
Thanks for watching and look out for that Ass whooping to still happen because we are racing Sept 4th 👍🏽
@@Mod2Fame I’m always gonna support, if I agree with you or not, now get that junk to the track on 9/4 so I can hear your next batch of excuses 🤣
Great video man! Very informative 💯
Nice video . I did the Diablo tune with mod ECM . My only thing I got it with the intune 3 with 93 Octane. Should of went with Trinity2
Instead .
Why Trinity? Other than the monitor and better interface it does the same things right?
@@Juju-zq5qjyea the Same shit 😂🤣
Great Video, looking into Diablo for my LT Gen V 6.2L and was wondering if I can turn on/off the VATs, AFM, and DOD (all off now)? I don't have to worry about emissions, had the system programmed by another company and when I am ready I want to be able to do these things myself without going into the learning curve of HP Tuners.
Is the diablo tune the 93 octane tune?
This video is dope thanks for explaining this
Thanks
I dont understand just add a flex fuel i have a camaro i i can use e 85 or 93 and also i can mix the gasoline and no problem.
Tuning is everything😎
i have a 2011 Escalade ESV, all I really wana do is "unlock" "wake up" my 6.2 , might upgrade the cam when i do AFM delete, might ad headers later....im looking at the Edge Evolution CTS3 to learn about tuning and monitoring with my ESV, is this a good choice? anything I should know? I am confused on people saying you have to pay for licenses to tune with Diablo but I dont see anything about that on the website, is it like HP's credits system?
How much power could forged 6.4 make with same supercharger setup
Great information, thank you
Awesome vid thank you 🙏
Hey Steph,
Your 2015 Hellcat is awesome!
I really enjoy your videos.
I was wondering if you could tell me what lowering Springs you used for that car.
I also have a 2015 hellcat and would love for it to look and sit like your car.
Thank you in advance for your help

@@Mod2Fame thank you
@@Mod2Fame you had to unlock your pcm for tuning? mine was already unlocked, in my 07 charger
Great content
Hey how are you I have Durango rt 2011 I put camshaft and lifter and rocker arm but is giving code p305 p306 p307 p308 n runing rich
I'm swapping a 2014 392 6.4 srt in to my gasser 2010 ram 2500 and I need to tune it can I just put a 2014 srt diablosport tuner in it or will it not work
I already have a cam with an HP tune so how should I proceed u think?
So I had a question
I recently plugged in a diablosport ex trinity on my 2015 challenger hellcat manual transmission i used the custom stock tune setting I did my first pass the car runs horrible off 92 octane I tried both 91 tunes and customs stock tune it all does the same
It bogs out at 5,000 RPM so i rest it to the factory setting but it immediately gave me a bunch of check engine light codes I deleted them all but p0601 will not go away and my car still bogs out at high RPMs I never had any issues with my hellcat I always redlined at 6,200 RPM and never had an issue for the year I’ve own the car up till just now after plugging in this device I really regret using Diablo sport tuner I feel like I rely screw something up Is there anything I could do to save myself the expensive situation this device had caused ? I talked to diablosport customer service but they just told me to update the device and log the passes which I did
I’m really just trying to get my car to normal
So I could try something new
If you have any suggestions please lmk thank you
great video
Great video
Well said. Great video 👍🏻
I've got a stock srt 392 with a hellcat air box what tuner do you think would be the best for more hp?
Fire video 🔥
Hey with the Diablo tuner. I wanna keep my 5.7 at the 87 octane. But wanna take off MDS change the fan run time to 190 temp instead of 220. Tire size change. And take off the govner. I really really would like to know this before i buy it. I have an 08 300c. Please let me know. Im looking at the i3 tuner the 400 dollar one! Pleaee please get back to me !!!
From what I know it's all possible but call diablosport and confirm before ordering 👍🏽
Did u get it?
Thank you sir
Hey fame what you do with the parts you take off ur car??
Can I use a laptop too download tunes for Diablo sport or it has to be a pc
Hey, Stephen. Great video! I really appreciate you took the time to go into some important details. I was hoping you could give me some insight on the following:
I just ordered the DS T2 Platinum for my 2016 Charger HC.
Love the content!!💯💯💯👍
What a your 60-130 mph numbers ?
Yo man I just got a DiabloSport Trinity 2 and nobody around me tunes with them and I need a custom tune. I used the Diablo Tune that's a 93 OCTANE TUNE and put on a JLT cold air intake and I'm still running lean. Can I adjust the air fuel ratio etc myself and richen it up?
If I have an unlocked PCM from Diablo, and I have HP Tuners, can I tune my truck? Or do I have to have an unlocked PCM from HP Tuners? 2021 Ram 1500 5.7L e-tourque.
never tried to mix / match the 2
Count how many times he said “tunning”😂😂😂
