Totally. I feel like they were aiming to exhaust everyone, taking the confusion up to an almost un-follow-able level, to then reveal: this is what the characters have been going through endless times before trying to analyze what went wrong this loop, what to fix next loop, and there are so many variables that there is no "figuring it out" for Adam and his team and Eva and her team, so when Claudia shows up and reveals what really has to be done, it was such an a-ha moment where I realized the creators wanted you to experience how it would be impossible to untie the knot. Such an awesome show!

Absolutely brilliant show with almost no distracting or annoying flaws, and an amazingly satisfying and and elegantly simple resolution. It managed to accomplish in 3 seasons what GOT completely failed to do in 8. I will certainly rewatch the whole thing in coming years, both to make sure I never forget it, as well as to catch more details I may have missed and have an overall deeper understanding of how it all works. I'm still just kind of sitting in awe of the whole thing and feeling privileged to have seen it.

One way to keep track of the Martha's was to pay attention to the placement of her small eye cut when it was on the right side she was in Jonas world & the left was Martha's. The Martha that was influenced by Jonas never traveled to Marthas world after she was intervened on by Magnus & Franziska.

I also loved the ending. The show is definitely a masterpiece.
Through I wonder if Jonas had a nickname of "Long Pause" Kahnwald? I don't know how many times I kept making circular motions with my hands, "Come on, Jonas, Out with it!". Of course he over-compensates as Adam with his long winded expositions.
My drinking game would be, start drinking when the camera is on Jonas and waiting for him to speak, and by the time he speaks, we'd be drunk.
    Anyway, brilliant season and show,

The longer I think about, the better the ending gets. There really was no other way to do it in a satisfying way; not to a level like this. There was a point in the final when I gasped and thought .. are Jonas & Martha _causing_ it all when they pop up on the street, but it all played out good. The ending is so straight forward there are not many questions left to even ask. Minor things, yes, and we may get/find answers along the line - but the show itself closed the loop on itself with an ending that makes you smile and be sad at the same time. This is how a bittersweet ending should feel like!

    • @veryincredibly
      @veryincredibly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Exactly, it's a bittersweet ending. It's kinda ironic that it worked out bittersweet considering Adam & Eva spent so long trying to make everything happy by creating "paradise" but by trying to do that they were actually creating an infinite loop of sadness. But as soon as they decide to work together they create an ending that is both happy and sad.

Dark series also shown reincarnation as a quantum Immortality concept, Katherina died in first world and reborns in second World, she then died in second World during apocalypse but her soul remembers her suffering during the lost of Mikkel that's why she was hugging Mikkel during apocalypse, Peter died in first world and reborns in second World, that's why he was feeling like he have met Jonas, when Jonas first time came to his world, because he have given him therapy, Martha have also born in second World that's why she was saying that when I met you Jonas I felt I met you before, Magnus Does all time travel thing with Jonas and reborns in second World and that's why he was satisfied during Apocalypse of second World because he have done so much work so his soul was satisfied. Similarly Francisca also done so much work and reborns in second second World and she was not having voice because she disrespected her sister who can't speak and her soul was also satisfied during Apocalypse of second World. but Jonas born again in his own universe but in Scrodinger cat theory, quantum immortality, that's why he never born in second World because he was always present in his world, his soul never gone their to reborn. But they all reborn in third world through different parents and reunited. The paradise.
yes it may possible that quantum immortality concept of quantum physics can exist in real we just don't know that we are immortal and we will be become our Ulternate version of Scrodinger cat experiment, as Jonas felt something when he first read the letter of Martha, because he knows then only that The lines he said to real Martha can't be known by the Martha of other world. So it may be all version of all characters were past and future life of each other. And that is why he became Adam from Jonas.
There is also a hint given in episode 5 of season 2 that in staring scene Middle Jonas dreamed where he is with Teenage Martha on bed and then suddenly Martha belly Ejects black liquid and that was their son, the origin, he was shocked because Adult jonas never goes to Martha for intercourse on bed , but because in true sense he goes to Martha world and died and reincarnated in alternate version.
And this song just was playing during Stranger Jonas was on work, indicating that he is done dying

Watching Season 3, I thought oh fuck, they're doing too much, being too extra, there was a part of me, admittedly that thought Im going to hate this season, but finding out the Orgin was a beautiful thing, and a tragic thing as Jonas and Martha never existed anymore, Jonas fought so hard to save Martha, that it was a vicious cycle he couldn't stop.... John Frum the show took you on a ride. The cycles were being carried out and the characters we watched were all playing their part. They had awareness of being in a cycle but not the ability to break free. All that really happens is a slow zoom out of the situation. We start with just a child going missing and then we keep seeing more and more of the picture until the last two episodes where we get to see the whole thing. When we get to see the whole thing, that’s when the characters get to break free and we get our Donnie Darko sacrifice. If they had done it any differently we wouldn’t be able to get these beautiful drama filled interpretations of time travel paradoxes. The show hits on all these time travel phenomenon but puts in a drama that you can track from start to finish. The story of self sacrificing Donnie, I mean Jonas is a basic one no doubt. The constant manipulation of characters to get them to do and feel certain things is frustrating, I was legit yelling at the screen and begging for something to change for two seasons, season 3 I learned my lesson and just sat back and enjoyed the ride. I feel like my intelligence grew from contemplating all the time paradoxes and all the bootstrap repercussions. It was a joy to work through the frustration. I had a satisfaction at the end like after you untangle a pair of really knotted up headphones. Your complaining and cussing the whole time but damn it feels good to have it untangled and it still be functional. This has surpassed Da Vinci’s Demons as my favorite show.

Really surprised everyone seems to have loved the ending. I was a bit disappointed. It felt very plot driven, with characters making odd decisions in order to take the plot where the writers wanted it to go. Also, though they did a good job of tying up loose ends, to me it felt like that’s what they were doing, rather than revealing those ends as integral parts of the story.
Still, really enjoyed the journey and I can’t rule out totally changing my mind about the end after a rewatch.

I finished the show today (I know I was pretty late to the party because I decided to watch season 1 & 2 again before watching season 3). I was totally stunned by how good and satisfying Dark is. My goodness. Not only its time travel story telling is convoluted but eventually rewarding, the entire show tells love and sacrifice stories in every plot details. The love and sacrifice the parents are willing to make for their kids, and so is the love (and sometimes hate) between lovers. There were hopes and disappointments among the characters and in the end we realized that they were never meant to exist but they were, for a long, torturing and yet bittersweet while. The finals words between Jonas and Martha were really touching as it reflected way back to just a few simple lines in Season 1. I’ve never watched a Sci-fi series that great. Now I don’t know what I should watch next.

Who discovered the other’s world first?
I do understand the 2 different timelines of Jonas and Martha. However:
Why would Adam ask Magnus and Franzika to send Martha to save Jonas just to create the origin only to kill her and the origin, as well Jonas dies that time line?
In the other timeline where Jonas goes to the basement the origin would never be created, this is due to Eve sending Bartaoz to stop Martha from saving Jonas, however she wants to origin to be created?

3 fun facts about the produktion of Dark :
    1. The final scene between Jonas and Martha, was the last scene filmed on the final day of shooting. All the cast and crew were present. People were crying at the end.
    2. the VFX studio is known for its great work.. the did a lot of great fx for lot of the blockbusters in the last years... Like endgame, cpt marvel etc

Having said that I’m a little disappointed they didn’t have Jonas and Martha cause the accident that killed taunnhas family as the ending to the show. I feel that really would have brought home the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning theme of the show. A little nihilistic for Netflix perhaps but that would have been my preference for the ending by maintaining the symmetry like that. Regardless i still enjoyed the way they did end it and thought it was well done.

After Season 1 I was so thrilled with this show. I really thought it was the best show in a long time, on par with Twin Peaks, True Detective Season 1 and so on. Unfortunately, at least for me, the show overall was pretty good but never lived up to Season 1. Its greatest flaw is also its greatest strength: plot. The 'plot' is so dense, so Moebius strip like. Which makes the show super interesting. At the same time though makes the show, overall, just a big big plot. Because it is intricate much of the time is spent with characters telling what is happening or what they think is happening and how to change it or how they think it could be changed. Over and over again. This leaves very little ( I would say none) time to actually develop the characters properly. They are more like figurines, symbols, shadows. I appreciate the show a lot and I think it is really really good. And I am glad it had an emotional core at the end of it. But the promises of Season 1 have not been met for me. Now, waiting for The Expanse S5 ( which I think is a show that really has it all so far: plot development, characters and so on)

Can anyone please answer my questions? Like, I have a lot after watching Season 3.
    1. Does the Adam and Eve myth exist in the origin world? Or does it only exist in the two glitched worlds? If it's the latter, then why do you think the screenwriters are implying that we, people in real life, are living in a glitched world?
    2. How did the first cycle of the two glitched worlds happen? The starting point was the nuclear explosion (where time stills in a fraction of a moment), right? Is this the event that gave birth to Jonas and Martha? Or was it the clockmaker Tannhaus' intention to have his son and daughter-in-law back? If his son and daughter-in-law are the original inspiration of the glitched versions, Jonas and Martha, then who is the glitched version of the clockmaker's granddaughter? Was it Claudia? I don't think it's Claudia, because origin-world Regina's mom is Claudia herself. Claudia exists in the origin world.
    3. In connection to question 2, how are "fake" human essences produced in a glitched universe? We know the "why" and it's because of origin-world Tannhaus' experiment. But the show didn't reveal the "how". In the glitched worlds, how were Jonas and Martha manifested? Quantum entanglement? Cesium-137? How did their genetic code manifest precisely?
    4. If the point of Claudia's epiphany is to end Regina's pain/suffering, then how come in origin-world, pain still exist? Also, how did Claudia exactly pinpoint the origin-world's interdimensional points, the numbers Jonas and Martha used to world hop?

My head was spinning after the first few episodes of season 3 that I had to go sleep it off, what a ride indeed. The show also spoke to me on a philosophical level where I kept on thinking about the little story by Chuang Tzu “Once upon a time, I dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was myself. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.”

I think it's a happy ending. The issues with us(us being human beings) is that we think we should tell others when they should live and die. If someone is so miserable and suffering why should "we" tell them "you can stop living, continue to suffer". Its like assisted suicide. If a person has exhausted every option to make them happy why is it our place to tell them to continue to suffer. I'm not saying let people commit suicide at the slightest sign of something bad happening but if they have no hope then by all means do what will help you, and sometimes that may be to simply end the suffering. I know that's not gonna be a popular take but why should we tell any other person they must suffer to make us feel better thinking we are helping them.

It was a fine ending. I was only disappointed that Adam and Old Martha didn't have a similar interaction as the younger versions did.

    I enjoyed DARK so much!
However I found that a lot of the action in season 3 was people coming in and out of rooms while people looked at walls or machines and something enigmatic
    "I've been expecting you..."
"They told me you would come..."

I have another few question- seems Reddit doesn't care to answer hence posting here-
    1. So, who gave the blueprint of the time machine to Tannhaus in the 'original world'. I mean we are shown Tannahaus receiving blue print in Season 1 by "white devil"- Claudia which tells him how to create the time machine in the first place, which appears to be done in Adam's world (which i believe Season 1 and 2 are placed, and 3rd season is in Adam and Eva's world both). So this means in original world no time machine exists. When in 86 ? while Tannahus is trying to create the machine and has an accident hence splitting the original world into 2, thats when Adam and Eva's world starts, isnt? this concludes for me that no time machine really existed in original world but tannahaus creates in Adam's world. I am not sure about this whole bit.
    2. Who creates the "inter- world" - portal - Ball gadget? Who gathe the blueprint for that. Did the Tannahaus of Eva's world made it? or did Sic Mundus create it?
    3. How many time machines are there- a. The cave door portal, b. The suitcase time mahcine c. The chair time machine which pretty much looks like was an accident anyway- never really worked to bring anyone alive.
    4. When Jonas-Adam is already working on a time machine in 1888 given by the black god particle from Martha (sent by future Adam) why does Noah find the need to create the "chair time machine" and kill kids. Noah knew that Adam is already working on it.
    5. I didnt see anyone using Suitcase time machine in season 3. Just the ball to travel between 3 worlds and the cave door.

      1. There is no successful time travel device in origin world. Tannhaus tried to build one in the bunker, that accident caused the split. As far as the suitcase device: it and the Tannhaus book are both “bootstrapped” they have no origin, they both always exist in the 2 alt worlds.

As good as the ending was, I do think season 3 suffered a bit. I felt that layering on Martha's world only served to confuse the narrative. It didn't really bring anything to the table for me, and in some respects felt like it undermined the characters we had spent time with.
Whereas the first two seasons seemed to progress a character-based mystery, the last season just felt like a barrage of confused atomatons being told what to do by Adam and Eva. How many times in season 3 did we hear someone has been lying, or the phrase "in his world ... And in hers". It got repetitive to the point of parody.
Another problem is Deus Ex Claudia just shows up in the last episode to explain everything in one extended monologue. I'm still not even sure why Claudia disintegrated out of existence, since her bloodline would not have been altered.
Overall the season had some great moments but it was extremely muddled, borderline unfollowable, yet saved by a great ending.

Great video for a great show, thank you.
I started to get worried about half way through the season about the conclusion of the show, but they really managed to pull it of in the end.
I just wished Hannah would have liked to name the baby 'Adam' instead of 'Jonas' at the end...

So that is why Tannhaus never traveled through time in both worlds. He always said his place was the present. Apparently, he was not of either world. He was of his own, the original.

Dark Series is my one of the favourite series of all time. Although the series based on mind-blowing gigantic scientific concept of sc-fi & time travel, it beautifully managed all the characters & it's emotions in such a magical way that i totally fell in love with the series. There can be made a film on Jonas & Martha's love story. 😁😊
My journey with the dark from it's beginning of 1st episode to 26th episode will always be a special place in my heart.
But, In the starting of season 3 upto episode 4; i was uninterested with the character development of new world..Yet it was necessary to buildup characters of new world. But after that i was totally invested with the series. The ending scene when everyone disappeared was heartbreaking. I was so much emotional in the end..
And that shows how great this series is!!👌👌
I really appreciate the way Director Baran bo Odar Managed all the characters, events, scenarios is a masterpiece Act.
Also i can't stop myself to praise it's screenplay. They masterfully crafted the confusing story in such a engaging way that we never loose our eyes on the screen. Also the Soundtrack & Music Montages are my favourite part in this series..
Also i was literally heartbroken at two scenes. First when Old Ulrich at hospital looking the sky with the hope of Katharina will come and get him out of that place unknown by the fact that she is dead.. Second scene in the last ending of last episode when Jonas said to Martha "You & I are perfect for each other, Never believe anything else" & disappeared i couldn't stop myself from crying.. 😓😭
P.S :- I recommend everyone to watch this series.. It's the GOAT series ever made on time-traveling concept.. 🙏😍🙏

As much as Im not a fan of the last episode completely debunking the rest of what the series was going for, (Implementing the third world, basically making these two journeys we've been going on to be pointless) I do think they tied it up all very well. As someone who watched all 3 seasons in about 2 weeks I do feel like most of season 2 and the early portion of 3 felt like it was giving us filler without moving the story ahead all that much. That could have been of my own fault tho by consuming so much of the series in a short period. The last 2 episodes were amazing tho. I cried for the first time seeing Adam and Eva hug realizing that the cancerous relationship they had with each other had to end. Definitely hit all the emotional beats with Jonas/Martha and Tannhaus's son's interaction at the crosswalk. All in all a wonderful and unique experience that I think could have been slightly streamlined a bit to make it a perfect show.

Marek said big bang ang big crunch in the end. signifying that tannhouse made worlds in a big bang after trying to make a time machine. and big crunch is where everything in the end resets itself.
it's like saying did the bigbang happen in the past or in the future? the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning as the show always stated.
did the bigbang happen because it was the beginning? or because it was the end?
and about woller, he may be the truckdriver that would have killed tannhouse son and his family. it may be because in the two mirror worlds we can see that woller is always differently abled person. assuming that the accident occurs. another strong clue is that woller drives the truck in Jonas's world.
this shows why he's always to uptight in way.

    • @postponingcamel5619
      @postponingcamel5619 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Interesting theory, but presumably Wöller is of similar age to Ulrich etc, that would make him underage to drive a truck in 1987. Of course, that doesn't exclude him, since he can still drive without a license or cause the accident in some other way.
EDIT: Actually, it can't be Wöller, because his eye was still injured in the original universe even when the bridge incident did not happen.

If they were a dream then they’d never actually exist to tell Tanhauses son to not cross the bridge. Just like his Jonas could not kill himself because nothing would exist. Jonas cannot end the cycle because he wouldn’t exist in order to stop it. I think it would be cooler if when they went back in time to tanhaus together Jonas and Martha should have startled his son and caused him to swerve off the bridge. Thus creating the reason Tanhaus made the time machine. So there are three parallel universes. The one that created Adam, the one that created Eve, and the one that created the garden of Eden (the two worlds they live in).

    • @postponingcamel5619

Love your views on the show. 2 questions if anyone cares to answer- 1. What was the significance of black tar on Michael (season 1) and Martha (season 3) near cave?, and, when they made very clear that even if Jonas will try to kill himself he cannot because his older version already exists, why he dies in Eva's world - is this because he 'travelled' where he is 'not supposed to exist"

What I really loved about the development of this show is how every character was the hero in their own timeline. “Villains” we only ever saw evil acts from became characters I empathized with and felt heartbroken for as the rest of their story unfolded, knowing how they were just pawns used to push the story to a specific point and then be killed off. Hanno was an excellent example of this. Terrifying villain, but ultimately a father trying to find his daughter that was stolen from him. It was crushing
