By far my favourite show of all time and the most underrated ever at the same time. It's a shame it doesn't get more recognition and visibility because everything is top notch. Not just the writing, the casting, the acting, the soundtrack. And it's one of the rare shows that gets almost even better as you re watch it. A lot of very cool things can be understood only when you know how things started.
Authors of this show also created very promising first season of 1899, but due to low ratings or something show has been cancelled by netflix even though in my opinion it was great, especially the ending of the season, it was both great conclusion and great cliffhanger
@@EvanzoZubinsky Let's be honest it's nowhere near the quality of Dark, not even close. I don't mean to be rude but it wasn't really a compelling story, i'm really not surprised it was canceled and i'm not even mad about it !

I have watched this series 4 different times over the years. Its one of those, “Now what?” Shows, after it’s done. Not much can top it. It’s so good. It’s eerie and comforting at the same time.
One of the best shows ever. Part of me (the truly dark part) was hoping that Jonas and Martha were the ones that unwittingly caused the traffic accident that started the whole loop, but I know that would have been too bleak for most people. I genuinely thought that’s where the show was heading at the end. The more hopeful, yet sad ending was perfect in its own way, however I did think there were a couple interesting moments in the final dinner party scene that maybe hinted at something else (darker) beneath the surface. I’m so bummed that their next show 1899 got cancelled after one season, I was really excited to see where the story would go, but oh well I guess. I also JUST found out that they finished shooting another show for Netflix called Grimm Reality or something, but it was cancelled before they even started airing it. What’s up with that???
Yes! I also thought about the dinner party, especially Jonas’s mom-I was always suspicious of her. I still don’t understand why they canceled 1899. It seemed to perform well, and I was so disappointed to hear about it. As for the new show, honestly, it feels like Netflix doesn’t want to make quality TV. They’d rather produce something mainstream than give us a well-thought-out series.
@@nikaknackit's all about how many viewers start a show and how many finish it within a number of days. If the show isn't finished by most viewers within 28 days or so, they axe the show. @@nikaknack I felt it kinda differently. Jonas' mom too, was caught by the loop, which seemed to bring out the worst of her. In the dinner scene, she speaks about "burden being lifted". I interpreted it as her being liberated as well, finally being able to be a better version of herself.

Nika, that was an amazing love letter to Dark. At least, that's what it felt like to me. Dark is one of my all-time favorite series, and I recommend it to all the true scifi fans. in my opinion the question isn't can we escape fate, it's can love be a driving force thru space and time? bc the guy that created the pocket universe to undo the tragedy of his family, did so for love, he didn't know what he was inventing or maybe he did, he was just sending his intention in the universe or maybe he found a way to direct this force.. but what he effectively created was a 4th universe where the tragedy never happened and he destroyed his own universe, for a CHANCE of a parallel reality where his fam was saved..
It's insane. When the guy made the time machine he was probably thinking about using it himself to travel back in time to save his family not expecting that what would actually save his family would be two people birthed from the loop created by the time machine who went to his world to save his family and stop the time machine and the loop from ever being created in the first place. Not what he was planning but he did get the result he wanted.

this was perfect, just as the show was. Still one of the best time travel stories ive ever seen, they managed to mix scifi, esotericism, fantasy and a large dose of drama and still make watchable and enjoyable. For me this is the most accurate depiction of the dangers of humans messing with universal forces for selfish reasons, but when you think about it, Tanhauss achieved his ultimate goal, but in a "Dark" way hehe, his interference created the saviors of his timeline, but its a bittersweet victory and, again, selfish. My favorite tv series ever. I still remember i had a a4 laundry list of questions. At the and all of them where checked, crossed out with a fucking bow. Everything answered. Ive been chasing that high since, ngl. 100/10 series, cant reccomend it enough
respect for explaining this show, I had watched 2 seasons but when the mirror world was introduced I was like: UHM WHAT nooo I don't want things to be even more complex. So I never watched it. But I always wondered what had happened, now I know and understand, must've taken a while to grasp it so well, that u can make it into a video so thanks!
I binge watched this show in covid where in india netflix was provided for free for two days and any one with account can watch anything for free and i was seeing recommendations, what to watch and it should be completed in just two days and i watched dark 🌑 in two days and it was hard to grasp all things in this show in two days but i hope 1 day i will rewatch this show again and i hope i forget everything about this to watch it again 😅
Absolutely loved that show, up to the last season. I think I liked the sense of doom/fate a lot more. Having the characters learning about their fate/future and doing everything in their power to break an endless cycle was a lot more engaging than seeing them actually finding a solution. Especially since, because it was a cycle, Adam technically should have lived through the exact same thing Jonas did, including the solution. While the original world itself was fascinating, and pretty tragic, IMO it was the one thing that eventually broke the core interest of Dark to me. That endless cycle, that impending dread and gloom, that heavy atmosphere of "we can never escape our fate". Still, loved the characters, the musics and the ambiance! I was so engaged in the show, I even found myself taking notes of who was who!
I LOVED THIS SHOW Did Any one else use notes to keep track of the characters/their timelines?! This review so good! I’d love to hear your views on DEVS!!!! ❤
I think the series is pretty great but the later seasons tend to be a bit irritating. People cannot speak in normal phrases and everything has to be opaque for the sake of causing further mystery. It got a bit to much for me at times and it felt distracting. Although, the resolution and end was really well done.
The best way to move forward is to let go of the past....but to be fair, the time machine inventor DID accomplish the goal he set out to achieve when he built the machine.
My favorite time travel story and also a tightly knit 3 season knot with great sound and cinematography. If you like darker things and time travel you might also like a little spanish film called timecrimes.
I really wish that Dark did not sacrifice its relentless logic in its final episode. The rigidity of the time loop as a solution to time travel paradoxes is its most brilliant script innovation, which meant that at no time ever was it possible to change the loop by doing something in the past. Yet it's precisely what happens in the last episode, breaking the internal logic. While much more grim, an ending in which the whole story ends up being an unalienable constant would have been an absolute master stroke.
I think it's clearly implicated that Jonas and Alt-Martha didn't travel to the original world for the first time. They saw each other in the closet/basement. They split the loop and one time save Tannhaus' family and the other time they don't. Just like Alt-Martha saves Jonas and doesn't save him simultaniously. Schrödingers Cat. Otherwise it would be a paradox because they would prevent the origin of time travel by time travel.
I've been thinking about a re watch. One of the tightest shows I've ever seen. You've convinced me. Back I go. Did you watch it in the original German, or the dubbed version. I tried both early, but went with the German in the end.
Great video! Good explanation, to the point. Although it holds little rewatch value other than maybe once to see the hints troughout the seasons, it's still my all time favorite show. Nothing comes close. Maybe Severance one day. We'll have to see about that when it's done.
Thank you! Yeah, I know-I honestly did it out of love for the show. I actually rewatched it just for this video, and I didn’t regret a single minute! But I agree, I think most people wouldn’t want to go through it all again
@nikaknack Yeah once you've seen it, the things that make it great while watching are just gone. Not a bad thing by any means tho. Now it's time for a Silo video 😁. If you haven't seen it, go watch it!
I disagree. Yes, I watched it as quick as I could the first time through to learn all the answers, but I've rewatched it twice and will most likely watch again out of pure enjoyment. It is such a well-made show (cinematography, acting, soundtrack, dialogue) that the enjoyment is beyond just the mystery.
@czavala9182 well yeah. Each to their own I guess. It's truly a masterpiece and I've watched it on release and binged it one time after. Maybe in a couple of years I'll go back and watch it again.
13 Monkeys time travel rules are such a bleak outlook, but The Butterfly Effect rules might be even worse. The essay about the myth of Sisyphus by Camus and The Metamorphosis by Kafka both explore the ideas of mental freedom in spite of physical internment. There's a kind of mental peace that can be found through knowing that you CAN'T change history. There's a reason why the oldest people in the time loop are the most consigned to the reality of their fate.
Seeing how profoundly intricate every season and scenes were to understand the whole story of DARK and how it blended so many genres I just wanted to see where Baran and Jantje’s next big thing 1899 would go… but Netflix robbed it from us. I will never forgive Netflix for that but they did let him make DARK so can’t complain too much.
Ok I have only one question ? HOW did Claudia know about the Origin World, from the Show we know, when the black whole comes into existence, time stays still and free will is possible, but how did Claudia pass her knowledge on to the new cycle?

Stranger Things, Mr. Robot, DARK. My top 3 tv shows so far. All pretty awesome, but DARK is something truly magnificent to behold.
Oh my next video is on stranger things hahaha
This essay is so good! I really thought you have a huge following. Hoping you upload more content like this.

My favorite tv series ever. I still remember i had a a4 laundry list of questions. At the and all of them where checked, crossed out with a fucking bow. Everything answered. Ive been chasing that high since, ngl. 100/10 series, cant reccomend it enough
I don't know who you are but your video brought me to tears on this day
I hope those are tears of joy? 😅
respect for explaining this show, I had watched 2 seasons but when the mirror world was introduced I was like: UHM WHAT nooo I don't want things to be even more complex. So I never watched it. But I always wondered what had happened, now I know and understand, must've taken a while to grasp it so well, that u can make it into a video so thanks!
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
This show is so beautiful I have watched it at least 8 times 😅
very cool to still discover new video essayists in 2024. on my way to catching up with your earlier videos!
thank you and I hope you enjoy!
I used to love this show as a teen but no longer had Netflix.. Always wondered how this show would end! Thanks for your video!!!
My pleasure! I am glad you enjoyed it!
I LOVED THIS SHOW
Did Any one else use notes to keep track of the characters/their timelines?!
This review so good!
I’d love to hear your views on DEVS!!!! ❤
I did it the second time around, the first time i was way to intrigued ahahaha
Thank you!!!
My fav. serie of all time.
I think the series is pretty great but the later seasons tend to be a bit irritating. People cannot speak in normal phrases and everything has to be opaque for the sake of causing further mystery. It got a bit to much for me at times and it felt distracting.
Although, the resolution and end was really well done.
Was soll das heißen?! - Jonas
One of the most amazing tv shows ever!
The best way to move forward is to let go of the past....but to be fair, the time machine inventor DID accomplish the goal he set out to achieve when he built the machine.
Townhauz, by creating the time machine, did save hi family... but just not in a way he originally thought
Oh definitely
An absolute masterpiece
yes!
@@nikaknack Amazing video! Keep it up :)
Thank you!!!
Wow you've totally intrigued me!! I'm going to check this out!!
I’m so glad! Let me know your thoughts if you do watch it :)
My favorite time travel story and also a tightly knit 3 season knot with great sound and cinematography. If you like darker things and time travel you might also like a little spanish film called timecrimes.
Thank you, I will check it out!
first video ive seen from you,i subbed 5 min into it .keep up the great work
Thank you!!! I appreciate your support!
Awesome video. I love darkthe best show out of my country
Thank you!
Vielen Dank für das interessante Video, 20 Minuten sind wie im Flug vergangen ❤️
Freut mich! Ich freue mich, dass es Ihnen gefallen hat!
This Video was so well done!👍
Thank you so much!
I've been thinking about a re watch. One of the tightest shows I've ever seen. You've convinced me. Back I go. Did you watch it in the original German, or the dubbed version. I tried both early, but went with the German in the end.
Back you go!!! So worth it! Oh I don’t know German so I watched the dubbed version)
@@nikaknack subtitles, baby.
One of the best movie Shows of all time.
One of the best shows I’ve ever watched 💯think I might have to run it back
Do it!
The ending although sad was perfect, for me it is the Best show I've ever seen
yes!
You killed this Nika!
Thank you 🤘🥲
Great video!
It is definitely on my list!!! Will do!
Such a profound series and it starts on my birthday June 21st 😳
13 Monkeys time travel rules are such a bleak outlook, but The Butterfly Effect rules might be even worse. The essay about the myth of Sisyphus by Camus and The Metamorphosis by Kafka both explore the ideas of mental freedom in spite of physical internment. There's a kind of mental peace that can be found through knowing that you CAN'T change history.
There's a reason why the oldest people in the time loop are the most consigned to the reality of their fate.
This video is well produced. I was suprised when I saw your subscriber count and views, clearly underred keep it up
Thank you so much!!!🤘☺️
Seeing how profoundly intricate every season and scenes were to understand the whole story of DARK and how it blended so many genres I just wanted to see where Baran and Jantje’s next big thing 1899 would go… but Netflix robbed it from us. I will never forgive Netflix for that but they did let him make DARK so can’t complain too much.
just subscribed to your channel. this is an amazing video essay on an amazing show. keep going! ❤
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it!
am a sucker for timetravel shows and movies and DARK is one of the best. As Jonas says to Marta "it's like Deja Vu, a glitch in the matrix"
Ok I have only one question ? HOW did Claudia know about the Origin World, from the Show we know, when the black whole comes into existence, time stays still and free will is possible, but how did Claudia pass her knowledge on to the new cycle?
