    Beautiful chrome!
    Never saw a concrete pier that's in the water.
    Never been to the west side of Michigan to fish the lake.
    To the Betsie for salmon, and Tippy for steelies and salmon.
    Great day!

    The water flip brought some steelies up river by us. Went out for walleye yesterday but brought the steelhead gear just in case and we saw some jumping. Hooked a couple but lost them. Great video again guys. Keep up the good work. You guys need waders out on that pier lol.

    How do you have your drag set? Do you have it really loose (baitfeeder) reel practically or do you have the drag set for how you’d fight the fish?
    I run #6 octopus hooks and keep having fish smoke the shrimp then drop it after like 5 seconds. Not sure if it’s the drag or where I’m hooking the shrimp or what.

    • @sbsoutdooraction3055
      @sbsoutdooraction3055  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Just tight enough to keep pressure when they grab it then tighten it before the hookset. Make sure hook is exposed in your shrimp

      There can be a lot of current on the piers. It does two things: 1. keeps your line from moving into someone else's and 2. you do not have to reel in and cast every one to five minutes. I think that Indiana is still the only state on Lake Michigan that stocks the skamania strain of steelhead and they are not normally clipped.

    • @sbsoutdooraction3055
      @sbsoutdooraction3055  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just cast it out n let it sit. Bobber comes to the top, suspending your shrimp to the length of your leader

    Dandy. Bear river down town Petoskey in aug great place for 20lb + summer runs .. doesn't get stocked never has but July they show up in the harbor then aug they make short run to the dam it's only few hundred yards up stream from the lake. Never land them first day when they're fresh. I've seen them 25 lb caught there. Fish only stay like 3 days then they drop back but you get these runs one after the next in aug.

    I'm not a proponent of killing Steelhead but these summer runs fight so hard and release a massive dose of lactic acid that they might swim away but they are dead so those are good ones to keep. I felt horrible I once had a biologist ask me if I knew who was catching all the Skams at a certain location because he was pulling a dozen dead ones a day off the grating. They fight to the death
