Never heard drum called "Beebs" before...
I'm always fascinated at the number of local colloquial names for that fish. My grandpa in Indiana used to call them "Gaspergoo"!

I was there (same pier) on Sunday when this video dropped, 12 min into the vid had to throw the phone into my chair to go land my First Steelhead Ever!! Just wanted to say thanks for the pointers, this was the third trip up there to Michigan and I finally got one. Let me tell you it was amazing!

over the years someone has been slowly losing that southern drawl... its hardly there anymore. i don't think i heard one "Y'all". instead it's"you guys". come to the east coast and "you guys" may turn into "uze gize" not sure they're going to let you in the door back home. lol

About a week ago
I've always loved the pier fishing stuff you guys have on the lake. For some reason, lake summer runs are gorgeous looking fish. Curious as to why they clip the lake fish as their are no natural/wild steelhead there. Wonder what the point of clipping is out there?
We get plenty of natural repro here, a lot of our fisheries depend on it. Less repro in summer runs for sure tho for whatever reason
Is September a good time to get steelheads off the pier. I moved here from Philly where most the fishing we did was at the Jersey shore and wanted to get into midwest fishing. I thought i watched a video before when the time of year was said but can't find it anymore.
What time of year are you doing this ? When do the steel head run ?
I've only been pier fishing for a year or so now, have had some luck with it, but I've had this one ongoing problem that I just can't seem to figure out why. Every now and then one or more of my slip bobbers won't stay up on top of the water. Once the sinker hits the bottom, the bobber drops to the bottom as well. I have switched bobbers and they all do the same thing. Just wondering if you guys have had this problem before or heard of it. Thanks
It’s mainly from something being on your mainline or your mainline wrapping up with your mainline. Always give it a double check before casting and give the float a little tug once it hits the water. Hope this helps tight lines

What size reel is adequate for this kind of running? Is a 1000 too small?
We use 3-4k reels

How long are your rod holders? Does that pier have holes you put the rod holders in?
Foot or 2 maybe. And yes there are holes for them

Which rod holders do you use? That’s my biggest problem finding pier rod holders.
Just some old metal ones from a bait shack. Can buy em or make them with PVC
How do you tie the shrimp rig?
Check some of our older vids out plenty of rig run downs there
Been having trouble this year catching skams. Used the pier rig with shrimp and worms and nothing’s been biting. Been out at least a dozen times in the morning and afternoon this year with no luck. Is there something I’m doing wrong?
Try different leader lengths!

Both can be effective

Anything that’s got some weight to it. Big walleye jigs neds etc
