Thank you for actually showing the press portion of the repair. I've seen a few where the new bushing just appears in place like magic.

Love it, great use of a tool that does not break the bank. I love how you show method and skill through experience. Most of us would grab an impact and ram it in and ruin the tool.

All good. Just check metal to metal friction. Check to see if a lubricant is required. Same also for removal, a little up around the top helps a lot on removal also. And yes hammer action of rattle guns tends to bind threads that remain under tension. Nice tool. Use it with a kit of bush/bearing adaptors and will be a versatile piece of kit!

useful adaptable tool for other bushes too.
I got a kit with 4 size forcing screws and big selection of cups, was about £80, mix that with off cuts of steel pipe, sockets and old bearing race and you can mock up a puller for almost anything .
That was a steal for £10, the forcing screw the nut and bearing are decent quality and worth weight in gold in a busy all makes auto shop .
Job jobbed and I hope you washed your hands before going home :-)

That tool is for Laguna 2 rear axle bushings (hence the cutouts in the large piece). Using it on the subframe will actually damage the subframe. Unfortunately the only reliable way I have found to replace those bushings in the Laguna 2 is to remove the metal "washer", push the middle section out and then cut the outer metal sleeve. Basically taking the bushing out in pieces.
I came to this clip with the promise of a miracle tool. 😢

    doing mine today..
ripped the inners out as the stupid nut pulled the central sleeve thing through and pulled it through the top,
so new plan, large washer off an angle gringer (won't bend) and the remaining top washer without the centralising part and hopefully pull them out tomorrow..
leaving them soaking in WD40 over night too..
    bloody things..!!

    • @bigpimp347
      @bigpimp347 ปีที่แล้ว

well that went down like a lead balloon..
      word of advice..
if the inner rips out, good.
if the inner stays in, try to get it out,
whilst using the bodge removed and massive washer off a grinder to remove the bush it ripped the mounting off the subframe..!!
yet the passenger side without the inner came out no problem..
      so now what ??
new subframe, or get the bush out hammer the bottom back to shape,
use the tool to re insert the surround and weld it back in (after removing the bush first)
set fire to the van ??
or sue the video maker for bad advice :)

I have one of those knock off generic bushing service kits off fleabay from China. I think it was £50 and so far its done everything i have needed to do. Comes with about 20 different cups and 4 different forcing screws with the bearing built into the nut. I even managed to get a spare M12 forcing screw because i bent the original one.

Great video. I think this may work on my '08 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V? The car isn't worth much but I really enjoy driving it. The only videos I've seen on it involve removing the entire subframe, a propane torch, and a sledgehammer, and using aftermarket bushings. Nissan doesn't sell the bushings, only the subframe, which is insanely expensive just to get rid of some noises. Thanks for the idea!!

Worn motor mounts, as long they are not completely broken: just fill the holes with good quality silicone. That also makes the car feel more sporty! I'm not kidding, cracked motor mounts that are making the engine rattle around can work better than new with a smear of silicone. I even did it on a completely snapt one, but it was under compression, the weight of the engine kept it together, and sciliconing both halves together kept it in place. Motor mounts are usually expensive OEM spares.

It's the perfect tool as it's a renault van you are working on. Renault keep things the same . Cheaper manufacturing. You can push the new bush in by using a bottle jack and a piece of pipe , just be careful not too raise the van off the lift 😂😂
