  • Subframe bushing noise on a Nissan Rogue with 75k miles?! Lets find out what's going on!
    Today we will look at a 2016 Nissan Rogue that has a periodical noise on the drivers side. The vehicle has approximately 75k miles and is in beautiful condition.
    I am using a new camera set on 4k recording, there is some digitizing so in future videos I will be working to eliminate that.

    Yeah, if you're struggling to find that "knocking noise" (usually while braking), it's the sub-frame bushings. Cut up pieces of an old tire and make some bushings and you're done!

    • @whatsnextgarage
      @whatsnextgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one actually had that rubber washer/bushing between the subframe and frame. But for ones that don’t, you are 100% right that that should help dampen the noise!!

Technology and refinement for the price is second to none as well as the customer service but these have been real dealbreakers for me.

    I have a 2015 Rogue with creaky noises coming from the front, dealer said it might be lower control arm bushing, but a bunch of google searches and your video show it could be the sub frame bushings ! I'm thinking the latter since the control arm looked good and they only sorta kinda thought it was that. But the sub frame bushings seem to be the most obvious thing ! Thank you for making this video !

      Get someone under the car. Put the car from reverse to drive over and over again. If you’re getting a creak or clunk it’s probably subframe bushing. I have one now with the left front bushing making noise

      I had a popping noise that came from the front left. I complained about it at 15k and the dealer couldn't find the problem. Fast forward to 40k and my warranty is over (four years). I complained about a different noise coming from the console. The tech heard the popping from the front left and replaced the struts to the tune of $1400. I told them I had complained about the popping at 15k, and the dealer got Nissan to pony up. I had to pay $90. Turns out the noise from the console was an Acco clip that got into the console - no idea how. That cost me $300 to fix, but I am still way ahead of the game. My Nissan dealer has been good to me so far.

    • @whatsnextgarage
      @whatsnextgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the car is lifted into the air it will look like that because the suspension is pushing the control arm down and the rubber bushing flexes in that socket. That’s why it is kind of bulging out like that.

    It has been very cold in Alberta and today I noticed a squeaking sound coming from my 2016 Nissan rogue while driving at low speed. The sound is also noticeable when the car is in park and if I bump it slightly with my hip. Would this be a suspension program?

    • @whatsnextgarage

      It very well could be a squeak from the suspension bushings. Maybe take a silicon spray or some other type of compatible lubricant and spray the suspension bushings. If you can get it indoors🥶. She described the noise differently then I would have. There was more of a scrapping noise when turning sharp and hitting a bump. In the end it was a compilation heat shield for the rotors and the exhaust heat shield.

      I've had the same problem with my 08 Rouge. Go to 7:35 of this vid and I had the same problem but from the rear. Instead of taking the tire off, I used my had or screwdriver and pushed it away from the tire (right through the rim I pushed lightly on the aluminum metal shield and bent it very lightly) because it was rubbing on the tire. That happened twice to me, just an idea and could be the easiest solution! Hope this helps!

    • @whatsnextgarage
      @whatsnextgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr Rooster, there are a few potential issues that are causing your low grinding noise. These are from my experiences only. Like others have posted, the heat shield can sometimes get bend and interfere with the rotor, also if it is humid outside there is a potential of flash rust forming between the semi-metallic pads and the rotor. This will cause a low grinding noise until it gets rubbed off, typically within the first few 100 feet of driving and braking. Because your vehicle is a 2015, I wouldn’t expect the rear differential to be making a grinding noise or the wheel bearings yet, and if these were bad, they would make noise every time you would drive. Finally, If your mechanic checked pads and rotors as well as other common trouble spots I can only guess that the noise is from flash rust. Hope this helps and keep us posted. Have a great week!!
