This is great you guys. I live in Ankara and it really is underrated, it is actually one the oldest cities in Anatolia. It dates back to the Phrygians and had an important Roman presence for several centuries. I wish you had gone to the Hacıbayram mosque, a beautiful building in a very interesting coexistance with a Roman Temple dedicated for Augustus. There is also the Arslanhane/Ahi Şerafettin mosque from the Seljuk period, an AMAZING mosque with Huge wooden pillars. It dates back to the 14th century. Good stuff :D
Ankara is underrated, in fact I'd say it's the best city to live at in Turkey if you like city life. I'd go as far as to say one of the best in the world. Anything you need in a city, it will be in Ankara. People just want to see tourist-y stuff everywhere they go but living in that is not always the best for daily life, Ankara is the perfect mix of modern and cultural. In Istanbul you see ancient cultures in Turkey and lots of commercial aspect of it, in Ankara you live like a Turkish citizen : D
My partner, who is Turkish, had a similar experience when visiting her parents in Istanbul. She left her backpack in the back of an Airport taxi, only realising about an hour later. They called the airport taxi office who tracked down the driver. The driver immediately brought the backpack to their home. He had already had several other fares but the backpack had remained untouched on the car floor behind the driver seat. It contained a very expensive brand new watch, a birthday present for her father. I was amazed they found the driver (without a registration number or anything) and got it back in a city as large as Istanbul with such a large number of taxis. I would be surprised if something like that would happen here in London.
He was a good person. Unfortunately, there are people in our country who can abuse this situation, and mind you we have a large population. Regardless, I think the majority will be generous and kind, especially to tourists. I'm not sure if I can say the same about vendors and taxi drivers, though.
Ankara is not boring city .Ankara culture is little different than other cities because Ankara is middle of Anatolia. You can find night life, muesuems , cinemas, Operas, concert's , Cafe's, pubs, basketball, football, hiking and near the mountain for skiing in winter time, extras for fun . The other good think Ankara is university city and organize city. lots of foreigners live in Ankara than you meet easily practice English. Ankara is growing up everyday.

Thank you for your kindness, but as a native of Ankara, i know that there are many neglected houses and it is a concrete city. You are wonderful couple ♥
Thank you for your nice comments on my city. Actually, Ankara is underrated because there are many historical and natural beauties in Türkiye. Still, I can easily recommend Ankara to any foreigner for living (not the best place in Türkiye for tourists). It has very developed areas and vibrant city life and it is a safe and planned city. Most of the well off and highly educated familiea are living in developed suburbs of the city close to large shopping malls. The places you have visited in the city centre are actually in the stage of an urban decay. There are many immigrants from middle eastern countries other than the locals of the city. You randomly go into shops or restaurants, but actually the city has very good quality restaurants and bars. The mosques in the city are new, but large ones. There are small but old Turkish style (before Ottoman period) mosques where people used wood in the historical area. The castle is really old, it is said that it was first made my the Kelts who were the first inhabitants of the city before Roman period. I am really happy that you found your camera easily. It may be because of your nice attitude towards the city and your effort to reach the mosque 😉 Ankara is also famous with its Muslim saints that lived there and become famous with their spiritual power.
You have to definitely check out or visit Eastern part of Turkey such as Gaziantep, Urfa, Mardin. Those cities also gives otantic vibes and offer a lot!
Visit anatalion civilazition museum and Anıtkabir, you can eat doner in cici piknik at kumrular street or menekşe döner in menekşe street near Kızılay, for night you should go Tunus aveneu and tunalı aveneu. And for diner with alcoll you should go to afitap meyhanesi in Tunus aveneu. İt is the Best taverna in the city.
Ankara is actually an amazing city which carries old, new, and modern architecture with a lot of great museums and attractions. So, you have to know in advance knowledge to where to go. We enjoyed your footage of your journey in Ankara. Thanks.❤

Looks like a better place to tour. Touristy stuff without the huge crowds of tourists. Nice castle. Dari Wren and Eli two young Russian woman often tour the mosques but before they do; they get a brochure that tells them how to dress. Many of the mosques are quit beautiful inside.
Another very nice vlog full of compliments for Ankara. I hope you will not leave the town without visiting the mausoleum of Atatürk! There is a saying in Türkiye „ The best thing to do in Ankara is returning back to Istanbul“. I believe you should also do that because during your stay in Istanbul you explored the back streets of Beyoglu and other crowded areas like the Grand Bazar but you actually missed a huge portion of the real stunning beauty of this unique city.

Just a tip for the flickering lights in Europe and Asia. Switch the camera to PAL settings to shoot at 25fps. All power supplies in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America use 50Hz power which is devisable by 25fps not 30fps giving the lights that flicker look. The US and Canada use power supplies of 60HZ which is devisable by 60fps and 30fps. Great videos keep them up

I wish I could easily say do not interrupt yourself when you want to go in the mosque, your clothes doesn't matter it doesn't represent the respect. If you're there, you've already respect by want to see the environment of a different religion and culture. Some people do not realize that, I hope you've had a good time. If you visit Ankara again and if you want to eat something good, please try Ekşi Maya Cafe & Restaurant placed in Maidan, visit Kakule Fırın in Tunalı for best dessert and Kuzgun Dokuz in Ayrancı for one for the best cheesecake you can ever had.
