Ataturk is a hero to the Turkish people, because he led the defence of the homeland against the invasion at Gallipoli. He helped prevent his country from being divided up by the victorious allies and became the first President of modern Turkey.
We were reading about some of his policies, and it seems he did the country a big favor by secularizing it as well. Thank you for further context, it is always appreciated 😊
Proof, yet again, that magic can be found everywhere, even places that people tell you are "not that interesting". The world is full of wonder and your videos capture it beautifully
I have lived in Ankara for over 20 years. Other than Ankara, I lived in Antalya for 3-4 years as well and currently I am calling Istanbul home. Ankara is a very unique place. There are not many tourists and usually people outside of Ankara find it rather boring. I have never found Ankara boring while living there. It is a rather well constructed and designed city with lots of museums and as you have stated, it is huge. So, finding things that you are looking for is rather easy there. If you are interested in table top rpg games, or theaters there are always new events happening. Infrastructure was also pretty good with nice healthcare and good internet connection. Houses are pretty big and comfortable and public transportation is nice. There is no earthquake risk as well. So, it is a stable, nice city in my opinion. There are also some lakes and nice, big parks. I miss my apartment there for sure. Also Ankara is considerably cheaper when you compare it with Istanbul and it is located in the middle of the Turkey. While living there, I have traveled a lot because it was very convenient. You can just go to south, west, east, north and see all parts of Turkey just with a 2-3 hours flight. Also what you guys were eating is a very old dessert called ottoman paste. It is usually sold at events or touristic places. It is pretty much sugar with fruit flavoring.
@@OnePackWanderers i think it's winding down, as summer is coming to the end, we decided to skip the ultra touristy balloon ride as in my opinion was extremely expensive and not worth it. We decided to rent a car insted very cheap for 2 days and explored some amazing places away from the crowds. We did experience the sunrise in different locations it was amazing.
Hi. I came across your video by accident. I also live in Ankara. It was a pleasure to see you in the places where I set foot. We look forward to seeing you again in our beautiful country 👋
Hello Tia & Chev great video as always Oh no strange about the microphone sound was ok despite not having the microphone. Thank you for showing Ankara Take Care 😍
Hey guys we are heading to Ankara this month, really interested to know what the accommodation you stayed at was. Keep up the great travel vids, cheers Mike
For whatever flaws Ataturk had, one thing he got right was to insist Turkey to be a secular country, sort of like Separation of Church and State in the U.S. But similar to what's going on in the U.S. with pushing religion into the country, Erdogan wants Turkey to be a Islamic country.
As western do you think Ankara clean And develope city or not, i mean like the street, infrastructure (not much littering) compare to western city like europe..?
Ankara is very clean from what we’ve seen. The infrastructure is nice too, we noticed a lot of metro points but we never used them. Nice streets and sidewalks. Istanbul I would say was a bit dirtier, but also it is a much bigger city and it’s very old so roads and stuff are a struggle when the city has been around much longer than cars have existed!
Which road/area is that at 8:38 and after? It's super, super cute and exactly what I'd love to see! Also, which hotel did you stay at and how can I get there from the airport?
Istanbul is a vibrant metropolitan city that boasts a diverse population from all over the world. However, Ankara offers a more authentic experience of Turkish daily life and culture. In my opinion, Ankara serves as a gateway for foreigners to truly understand and appreciate the essence of Turkey.
It’s briefly got up to 255km/h a couple of times, but was going slower most of the time because it took almost two hours just to really get out of Istanbul! Pretty nice train overall 🙂
Why did you skip the museums in Anıtkabir? They are awesome. Also, the real mausoleum is under the big building and no one is allowed in there. There was also a museum that had most of the ancient artifacts that were found in the region, the 2 of the first Meclis buildings, and a lot more. But most of the touristic stuff there are based on Atatürk.
there's nothing in ankara. also when i was 7, i make more interesting AND beautiful looking buildings than anitkabir with my legos. i mean just look at your own video where you argue ankara is underrated but all you shown is anitkabir? only full of shzt youtubers will title their videos like this for views. this video should be titled "we visited anitkabir, and it was... big"
Nice video it’s just another regular city and things that you can do in any other regular city with not much character compared to other cities in Turkey which are much more interesting.
It is a pretty average city, but many Turks act as if it is a hellhole. In that aspect I think Ankara is a bit underrated. It was wayyyy more affordable than Istanbul or even Izmir, so it does have that going for it.

Yes but all you mentioned can be found in any city basically it’s a boring just another city that’s what rightly everyone says 😂
@@ThatGardener Interesting take. What would make a city interesting for you?
Grande innovatore Mustafa' Kamal Ataturk il Padre della Turchia moderna; il massimo rispetto!
Are Ataturk's principles and reforms and Modern Turkey mentioned in textbooks in Europe?
Following your Turkey videos closely, my next destination. 💕
Just departing from Kapadokya, you should check it out before you leave Turkey, amazing landscape lots to see and lots of amazing hiking.
It sounds like you enjoyed it! Is it pretty crowded now or is the season winding down?

Your videos have gone up a notch with your new camera, plus they're now 4K - well done 🤗🤗
Glad you can see the difference 😊
early on, tia’s expression when seeing the transportation goes underwater. priceless. like, don’t start on me now. lol
Hi. I came across your video by accident. I also live in Ankara. It was a pleasure to see you in the places where I set foot. We look forward to seeing you again in our beautiful country 👋
Thank you! We are surprised more people don't visit Ankara, it is a very lovely city.

Another fabulous video. Thank you.

Hey Mike! That place is called the Grand Dora Otel. One of the nicer spots we’ve stayed in Turkey so far 🙂

He only sees this in his dream:)Türkiye will never be an Islamic state.
@@feri7492 Exactly! Turkey will be forever secular.
💜 Thanks for the wanderings ..!

What a nice treasure you found that you did not expect. 😊💙
The sweet on a stick is Dondurma, it’s the Turkish equivalent of ice cream. Made with amongst other things mastic, which stops it melting in the heat!
Thank you for the info! The texture was really quite different!
Okey I've gotta correct this one :) it is actually called 'Macun', and it is a toffee paste. "Dondurma" is the turkish word for ice cream
In your vlogs I've found some of the nicest music - keep it coming, please! Also 10:11 a hint at your next destination? :P
You are very perceptive! 😉
Wonderful vlog from Pakistan 🙂🇵🇰🇹🇷😍🥰. Love respect and support Turkey and it's beautiful people from Pakistan 🙂🇵🇰🇹🇷😍🥰

Hello. May I know what type of camera you using.....? Video very nice
Hello! We use an A7S3 🙂
4:05 no Tia for scale? lol
We really wanted to but we couldn’t tell if it would be seen as rude at a mausoleum 😬
@@OnePackWanderers nah....I was just taking the piss, a bit far for her to run lol
Was the train actually high speed, you showed it going only 110km/h? And no review of it
It’s briefly got up to 255km/h a couple of times, but was going slower most of the time because it took almost two hours just to really get out of Istanbul!
Pretty nice train overall 🙂
You guys should check out the country Georgia! You'd love it ;)
That's an excellent suggestion👍
We’d definitely like to see Georgia. We’re hoping the situation between Azerbaijan & Armenia calms down a bit so we can also see those places.
Belgian chocolate perhaps 😉
@@OnePackWanderers the war is over as far as I'm aware. People have been traveling to Azerbaijan
Totally upstaged in the outro by a stick of candy 😂😂😂😂
Hey, I also live in Ankara. You missed one spot to visit: Seğmenler Park. If u ever come to Ankara, just reach me and we'll go to Seğmenler.

I think its not really for tourists and maybe a good place to live
see, why doesn't youtube force this to people unlike other travellers? i kinda help the effing algorythm by subbing cause you guys seem real.
Well that was fun!

Ahhh, thank you! That sounds about right with how it tasted 🙂

It’s called the Columbia Street Elite Convertible. Not sure if they are still making them or not.
@@OnePackWanderers thanxx for your reply, I will try to find them. have a good day
Thanks, you too 😊

I'm pretty sure he said "turkish" because it's "turkish delight" aka lokum.
I thought Turkish Delight was more of a gelatin-based snack with nuts in it? 😬
@@OnePackWanderers I looked it up as well bc I'm 100% not sure!
nice vid, maybe ask a local how to pronounce Ankara :)
We looked up some pronunciation videos. Yea, messed that up a bit 😅 We have done worse though 😂
Cappadocia tomorrow I'm guessing.
