I once got ambushed by a level 5 reaper galleon as a solo sloop merchant. I am not fantastic at the game, but these guys were somehow worse. So the situation completely reversed, and they ran away from me for the next hour before eventually sailing their loot into the red sea. Guess I don't have DA sails for nothing. But there was no way I should have won that. Even if I couldn't claim the loot.
on my first day playing sea of thieves I was boarded on my sloop by gold grinders. the put me in their alliance near the end of their adventures, and we made 500k gold. all I did was join one vault.
Me and my friends do this all the time. All 4 of us climbing up the mast while the new player wonders who those random players were that just disappeared lol.
I was once doing a thieves haven run with my brother and he was pretty new to the game. We where playing in the same room so I could see his screen. He docked a rowboat he found and started to grab loot. He then noticed someone in all black outfit doing the vampire sleep emote behind our map table. He just kinda stood there and asked me what to do. I told him to kill then and he one blundered them right when they got up. It was very funny and one of my experiences with the tuck.
I’ve been through that stage. Neither I nor none of my friends bought the oos costume (probly because it was a female costume) but all we did was sell skulls cus we thought it was cool and mysterious, liked the oos music in the main menu cinematic, and didn’t realize how inefficient their voyages were.
The kraken set suits my son’s pirate so well (he didn’t go for a handsome hero, he went for a drunken, sea soaked, sun tanned, bilge rat and watching him fool around is just so funny and perfect) and he loves the kraken so it was truly the perfect look for him… But people teased him so much that he started hiding in Reaper pjs to hide not only his character but his personality and likes. I encourage him to wear whatever he wants but once he got Glitterbeard, I showed him just how awesome it looks with his pirate and the Kraken outfit and for awhile, he was happy to rock it unashamed again, a ghostly guardian and legendary kraken hunter… Until he reached Distinction 1 in GH and bought that costume. So yeah, he’s goofy, he’s a kid! But he’s also a pretty good player and great boarder who keeps the enemy distracted while we do what’s needed. He’s talked about changing his character but I hope he never does! He is the perfect example of a cartoony drunken sailor and should own it proudly!
as a proud pvp merchant, I can confidently say: Don't worry, we're not a threat. Go ahead. Come on board. Bring your ship closer. You've got nothing to worry about.

Most of my sot gameplay i was wearing pajamas most ppl i fought against in these were in fact not that good and toxic. Its also a benefit wearing those most of the time ppl will think u are just an average timmy looking for some fight but oh boi when they get killed by one their blood pressure goes to the mars

my instinct is if i see a pirate legend outfit player it will be an easy fight yesterday i was terrefied because a galleon was barreling twords me while i was on a sloop then i saw one of them was wearing a pl outfit and a wave of relief came onto me (They sunk 2 times)
I hate to admit it but my best friend is a parrot set enjoyer. he’s clueless, I have to force him to raise or anchor the sails and he can’t hit the broad side of a galleon. I love him but he fits the stereotype too well.
Personally I think the gold curse is just a more impressive curse because the grind is soooo boring so it takes someone really dedicated to this game to get, the season 8 curses are much more enjoyable to acquire and have already become far more common to see than the gold curse
I roll with the TDM set mostly but with no top and colour coordinated hat a trousers. I suck at TDM though. Reaper noobs always have the Ashen Dragon ship and either the Ashen outfit or reaper pyjamas and are usually very young and mouthy. They attack for no reason, even if I'm sitting on a beach chilling, waiting for my crew to join. Bonkers.
As an old school beta and day 1 player. I wear the sailor set 24/7 but only the pants. Sometimes the obsidian pants. I always wear the rarest achieved tattoo and my day 1 eye patch. I like to show off that i am experience but you have to know what you are looking for. It makes the combat easier when they believe you’re new. But you will always find us beta players rocking a single obsidian piece, day 1 patch, either gold curse or legend curse, and finally the rarest tattoos. We all want to flex with the rarest items. Oh yeah we all have that skull sword but never use it. Takes too much of the camera.

Got the “streamer outfit” from preordering the game. In the early days when there was nothing but a few sets of clothes to buy, I didn’t know what to spend my gold on just cuz it’s so damn cool. Definitely get street cred from random players just for having it

tuckers are weirdest people you can meet yesterday me and my friend were triple stacking fotd until some random sloop came in it seemed like a new player but when doing stuff like fotd stacking you dont spare newbies+he attacked first from then it was a short story, we come back to the fort and see a mermaid look around for the guy and decided to fuck it and get to loading loot on with one of us staying on the ship keeping an eye for him and other ships just in case and it didnt even take us 3 minutes to realize he hid on our bottom deck next to barrel with water hiding himself under storage crates, after 10 minutes he tried to be sneaky and anchored his ship next to the rock but the catch being we could easily see him from the fort and he was swimming for 5 minutes until shark killed him so he decided to sail closer from the different side of the island hitting it and making loudest sound imaginable on impact, this time he used tiktok hiding spots with no intention since the begining to even have any piece of loot for himself (or at least it seemed like it) he just wanted to see how long he can last on our ship
I like to make it very clearly known I have become a pirate legend just because I think it’s funny, I like to be as obnoxious about it as I possibly can
I use ashen stuff but I’m like the complete opposite, I’m chill and rarely attack other people and my PvP skill is about decent so suppose that’s right 😂

Final form of tucking is to hide on a ship and neither steal/troll, nor observe, but to just stay afk in order to let them farm commendations for you
