As someone who only uses the spinal costume, it’s fun how many people think I’m doing it to look like a skelly curse, and not because I think the costume emote is funny to use
I use it cause Killer Instinct is the shit, and the Spinal theme from the reboot kicks all sorts of arse.

@essiebos4364 same for myself. Even hen I get really angry at other people bothering me or sinking me by something cheap, I never ever say it in the mic. I still say it to myself and out loud but never in game.

Yeah I’m not gonna lie I’m still bitter about the Briggsy adventure. Did it with a couple of buds and to say we were hyped as f*** would be an understatement. So finding out it was a trinket… sorta killed the mood 😑

As someone who mostly double guns but switches to the spatula when Gally bilging in hourglass, “if you still complain about the sword, you’re the bad one” is fax. Preach brother. I roll my eyes every time someone malds about the sword because it usually comes immediately after whiffing a one blunder and a sniper shot.
I mean, I'm trash, but damn if it doesn't feel horrid to go against sword sometimes, imo, it's not that sword is bad (or any of those complaints) its just when there's bad lag and you get sworded from across the map (obvious exaggeration is obvious)

As a black dog set user with the Gatorade curse I can't count how many times people have verbally decimated me over using the merc set so it looks like the black dog only to turn off the curse and them sink me out of embarrassment

The art direction is so real seeing someone with some crazy glowing things is genuinely the least terrifying thing but some dude with some 15k outfit will sink your ship in about 2.8 seconds
As a "blueberry" curse wearer, your analogy cracks me up! XD I imagine this stereotype does exist, but I've honestly never come across another person wearing it! I got this curse specifically to go with the barnacle hoarder and Hunter's Call sets. Solo, I'm strictly a fisherman hunting shipwrecks and non-competitive, likely in Devil's Roar. If I'm with my friends who are mainly pvp-loving peeps, I'm the cannoneer/gunner, and working on Legend of Cursed Iron when we're not in pvp combat (yes, I'm working on 3 of the hardest grinds -- their sets go well together).
I wish there was a Hunter's Call curse -- one that adds actual gills and barnacles to the player and creates an overall "fishy" look (something that makes sense, and isn't a "Fortnite" skin, and maybe has a glowing variant). That doesn't exist, so mermaid curse it is. If something like this did exist, knowing Rare, they'd likely call it "Merrick's Curse" or something similar.
An ashen curse player helped me and my buddies get out of port when our pilot got us stuck in the dock. This was the only ashen curse player we met. He jumped off the ship after we made it to sea. Very friendly.

I use the Dark Warsmith costume, I always thought the stereotype was “bad reaper simp” but I think the actual stereotype is kinda true. Even though I’m the complete opposite.

The ashen curse despite the stereotypes surrounding it, i wear on and off because its the most visually appealing pre-skelly/ghost curse.
Once i get the two newer curses ill probably wear them on and off too.
But gotta say i love the flameheart sword, even without its relation to flameheart i just love the design on it. The same goes for the sword of souls, it has a unique design when compared to the other swords of the game.

i haven’t played sea of thieves in well over a year, but i used to play this game in middle school with my friends and it’s my favorite memories of gaming ever. Never gonna use this knowledge since all my friends have uninstalled or their computers cant run it (none of us are legend, lol)

Edit: also a a sword lord, the spatula is the one true god and no one can stop if fury from raining on the sea of thieves. Not flameheart, Ramsey, or the ancients. All shall fry under it

I personally much prefer the Daring Deceiver eyepatch over Brigsy’s mask, not dissing people who do of course, but something about wearing a labelled cosmetic that an existing character in the game’s canon wears doesn’t sit well with me, I like my pirate to have it’s OWN legendary outfit, y’know?

I totally get that, but in all fairness, we did kill Briggsy. To my understanding, that ghost isn't even her, it's just a memory of her. Olivia ate her actual soul. As such, we're repurposing looted goods. We're not cosplaying her, exactly.

I know, and like I say, I ain’t dissing, hell, I LOVE bird masks, and we earned it ourselves, so it makes sense.
I just prefer my pirate to have a more original outfit and cosmetics, makes it feel more like my own character in the plot if you get what I mean.

As someone who uses spinal i will say that you are pretty much correct. I do just wear that outfit because it's the closest to a skeleton curse i have. But i did play killer instinct.

The real revelation for me was that more people don't like the Ocean Crawlers. I like the variety they bring to emergent enemy spawns, especially given the differing considerations that come with fighting them, and they're a thematic necessity for Shrines and Treasuries to even have ground combat. Coral skeletons exist, yes, but you tell me people wouldn't be calling the Sunken Kingdom locations skeleton fort reskins if they appeared more than two waves in a row.
They have too much health, most of the eel's attacks don't give you the white light, the clam has shitty i-frames and I swear is missing half of his hitbox, and they literally never stop spawning.
I’ve only got 1 defense on the Disney simp and that’s only reserved for me, I met Johnny Depp while in Dayton Children’s for cancer (which was 15 years ago), was hyped af when I heard Disney and Rare was bringing Captain Jack to Sea of Thieves, and dropped my money on the Black Pearl set, didn’t get the Captain Jack Sparrow outfit cause it didn’t quite look good with my particular character, but I’ve thought about getting it

I wear the curse of sunken sorrow and literally yesterday I hid a keg on my ally Galleon they sunk me and then I went to fight them but they were not hostile anymore which was confusing, yep you got the coral curse stereotype very accurately.

Thank God somebody finally has a good stereotype for the DA outfit. I wear it and he basically described my play style perfectly, although I do rock the gold curse with it and am a little sweatier than most DA players, and also double gun from time to time but mostly sword sniper

I am a DA tattoo user. Despite having put in the effort to get the Umbra tattoo, I mainly use DA because 1, I paid a lot for it, and 2, I don’t like the facial tattoos of Umbra. I could go with a face paint, but I’m not usually in the mood for a paint

I'm glad that Gold Curse and DA Jacket were both positive stereotypes given they were the only things here that apply to me.
Ashen curses are the only ones I can never cauge. Ghost curses are always toxic and double gunning (haven't met a "friendly" one yet). And gold curses I always fasten my seat belt for, they usually make for the better fights.
