    Hey Peter, been following for a few months now since when I started looking at gear. A big thanks to you, your videos helped me get up to speed in sports videography and now I have my own freelance business (after 2 months of shooting)! I quickly realized that this is what I should be doing because it’s been the most fun job EVER. The dream is to work for a major league team or the UFC, and now I truly believe that with hard work I can achieve that. Much appreciated Peter, expressing your passion on TH-cam has allowed me to find the same passion. Honestly so thankful for guys like you who aren’t afraid to give away some secrets to better the sports videography community as a whole. Keep killing it man 🤙🏼

    Super helpful video, especially adding the settings you used for each clip! A color grading breakdown video would also be super helpful

      @petersarellas  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve got a couple colour grading breakdown videos on the channel but if you think it’d be helpful then I could definitely look into showing the adjustments I made for these clips as well! If it helps the base for all of them is the Slog3 luts from the Sports Video LUT Pack on my website and I make some environment-specific adjustment from there

      Thank you! Pretty proud of this thumbnail ngl. Usually zooming in when I can predictably follow the action and like to zoom out more as fast action comes towards me so that it can be viewed more clearly, but obvious that’s a general rule of thumb and can vary depending on what my goal is for that shoot

    Hey Peter! I just shot basketball for the first time yesterday and the gym has pretty bad lighting. As I was shooting I felt like I was made to shoot basketball lol. This video helped clear up a lot of doubt and gave me a clear path to what I need to do next! What LUTs do you use for basketball ? Did you use one of your own for this game ?

    Hey Peter, another awesome video! You have mentioned a few times about "scaling down" the 4k footage from 16:9 to 9:16. I understand that the 4k is 3840x2160 and it is moving to 1080x1920 however when you place the 4k footage and change ratio (say for example in DVR), you need to scale it up by 319% for it to fit the 9:16 ratio, and not scale it down. Is this the best way to achieve 4k 16:9 footage and converting to 9:16 ratio? Thanks as always, love your tutorials. Cheers

    Hi Peter! I love your videos 😊 One thing that comes to my mind when filming sports: how do you keep your shots stable? I guess you don’t use any gimbal as basketball is faster 😅

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A combo of in camera and/or lens stabilization, camera strap around the neck, and a focal length that isn’t too long usually does the trick

    • @petersarellas

      It’ll give you motion blur that is true to how our eyes perceive it in real life which is commonly seen as being more cinematic than filming at high frame rates

      Personally I use a MacBook Pro with an intel i9 chip from 2019 or 2020, which gets the job done if I use proxies. For work I use a newer MacBook Pro with an M3 or M4 chip in it (can’t remember off the top of my head right now which one) and that is amazing.

    When you are behind the rim you said you shoot wide ! How wide ? I see the lens you are using is the 35-150mm ! So you are shooting at 35mm full frame FOV when under the basket or do you shoot even wider than that with a different lens ?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was filming wide with the 17-70mm at 17mm on the FX30 so a 25-26mm full frame equivalent, but the 35mm on full frame is wide enough as well

    I notice some of the shots not following the double the frame rate with the shutter speed. Example, you shot 4K 60, 1/200. Where if it was double the frame rate it would have been around 1/120 or 1/125 depending on the camera you’re using. Is there any specific reason for shooting 4K60 at 1/200 shutter?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like less motion blur that standard when filming sports to make the action look more intense
