Eating organic saves lives. So many mega farms treat marginalized and immigrant workers horribly including forcing them to be around super toxic pesticides all day that hurt their health in major ways like cancer and fertility. Thank you for caring about people by eating organic food.

In the Southeastern states, the preorder and pick up price vs the gather in store and purchase price is higher in every Publix grocery store. Every item is at least 10 cents more, some items are much more so it does add up. But- they tend to pay their workers decent wages and offer benefits (Walmart absolutely does not)- if short on time or with a little one who does not need to be out and about breathing in other people’s germs- would be worth it.

The stores don't charge a fee for curbside orders. The only way to make it financially sound is to increase online prices by a small amount. I used to avoid curbside because of this. However, there are days that the convenience is absolutely worth it! The amount is small, & in store coupons still work at my store. Plus, things like sodas being 3 for $12 won't change for curbside. But, I've only used HEB. Other stores may be different.

Online grocery pick up has to go through their system in order to process it, and the order usually doesn't come in until much later after you've put in for it. Then they have to go and scan each individual item and verify that they put it in their right basket, depending on if you bought shelf stable, frozen or cold items. Then they can say on their devices that the order is ready for pick up.

Organic foods, especially at Walmart are definitely not worth the higher prices. One of these days c you should do a little research to find out what little a company has to do to have their product labeled organic. You’ve got two kids now, it’s about time you find out where your food is sourced from and how it’s produced. Not whether it’s labeled organic or not.

    • @mamas_on_a_budget

I think there is a viral tik tok video where everyone is getting this idea that organic isn’t really organic? I’ve seen this many times in my comments and I’m not sure what research I should be finding? I can’t find the viral tik tok video if that’s what you found your info from. But I have spent 1,000s of hours listening to podcasts and doing my own personal research on nutrition, if you can’t tell by the way I shop. I probably know more then the average Jo on this subject as it’s a huge passion of mine. The organic label means no round up weed killer, no antibiotics used on the animals, no steroids shot into their bodies to fatten them up, it means that the cows graze on grass which is better for the environment. It means I’m not supporting mass factory farming that is horrible for the animals and the earth. Could companies cut corners and not do the right thing? Sure but any farmer could do that. I can tell based on how much produce I eat that there is no wax coating on my organic apple or that my cucumber doesn’t taste like chemicals (and I can actually taste the difference and feel it). Probably more importantly, the standard glass of conventional non organic dairy contains upwards of 80 medications! You won’t find that in organic, even generic store bought dairy. Now I know tik tok can be a really good place to get a ton of info, but it’s not always true. People are trying to get likes and views on their videos. If there is a source you would recommend, and you didn’t get your info from there, I apologize. But that seems to be the common story when I ask people where they got their info from. In addition, I’d love to learn. So if you have sources that you used to help you figure this out, pass it on! Thanks.

As someone who worked in a grocery store... Why would you be upset that the grocery store is up charging? They had to hire more people to shop for you and create a whole new department so that its convenient for people to just grab and go. It takes about 30 minutes to an hour to shop for the customer its not a drive thru experience where it takes the store the same amount of time to create the food/ beverage you are picking up. I will always opt for shopping myself, unless the convenience outweighs the money. Just food for thought. Its always easy to think your problems are a priority but in reality its a time consuming convience and time equals money. I hope this opens your mind to the other side of the coin.

They aren’t charging you more you just don’t always get the same discounts as those who shop in store they do it on purpose so you come in the store the just let items stay the regular price and don’t always give the discount or sometimes clearance items don’t apply bc the can’t guarantee stock of clearance items

You should expect to pay more as it's a convenience to you. Having someone else shop for 20 minutes so you don't have to is saving you time. Time is money and stores have to add more employees for this convenience for you. So it's great there wasn't a negative difference but no one should expect things to be the same price when someone else is saving you time.

Hey, I used to buy all organic too but consider doing your research because often it’s not worth the extra $$$ . Sometimes the claim to organic is very low standards and there’s even legalities with putting words like organic in the name that make it seem like it’s better when actually it’s not. I decided for a lot of products it’s not actually worth it to buy organic when it’s almost the exact same product for more

I find it's the opposite at least with Walmart did the list on pick up like I normally would just to be able to screen shot it for my husband make it easier with photos to reference and had the total at 97 and some change he left with all the exact same stuff shopping in person and spent little over 118 for the exact same stuff. Idk if it applies to other places but Walmart at least does give cash back rewards you can only claim by doing online/pick up shopping and especially if you do a big grocery haul like us every few weeks and your spending like 5 600 everytime I end up getting alot more cash back than if I did a weekly shop

HEB here in Texas does charge more per item for online orders versus self shopping. And it's not just a few cents. I remember grapes at one point were over $5 more per lb than in person. That's when I noticed every single item was significantly more than online.

Why do people think it's a scam when they charge you extra for picking up your groceries or Takeaways because you don't want to get them yourself. One, they charge extra because they also have overheads to cover. Two, they are not doing you a favor. They offer you a service. You have a choice not to use the service for your convenience. I really wish people would stop making content trying to make everything out yo be bad

As a person, who has worked doing grocery pick up. I know grocery pick up is more expensive, because they give you no items that are on sale, or marked down, most of the time. if you are in store, you can pick up items that are on sale, and or clearance. With grocery pick up, they give you the most freshest items that are available.
