Tysm, I was wondering if someone had done this. 😂
Ty this really helped!❤❤❤
Thank you. This was really helpful
Thank you
I’m going to forward this to every parent, who thinks there’s no alternative to placing their kid in front of a TV/tablet/phone. I love the coloring and activity books. Music/audiobook in the background plus one of these = calmly occupied and entertained for a while.
I'm not in disagreement with your sentiment, but crafts require more oversight and energy than electronics, which are designed literally to paralyze you while they hijack your dopamine, lol.
Parents are often overburdened, overworked, and ✨systemically unsupported ✨ - I think we should attempt to speak with the intention of being genuinely supportive when we approach topics like this.
@@NotesNNotes I'm not disagreeing either. My comment sounds snarky (?) but it wasn't meant that way. I work in education and have had several encounters where parents genuinely had no idea what to do outside of electronics. They watched TV all day and their children did too. They simply lacked inspiration and perspective (not entirely their fault if they were raised that way as well).
However, the ugly truth is that too much screen too young is harmful long term. This fact doesn't care about overworked parents and I don't think it's insensitive to state it. Every family has to make the informed decision for themselves and has to live with the consequences.
As a kid I watched my grandpa read every night and he always annotated his books. 🥰 Drove my grandma crazy 😂 but I feel like it gave me permission to interact with my books the same way. They’re meant to experience!
yeah i love looking at book annotations. i just write my stuff down tho in a separate place bc i dont wanna "mess up" my book 😭 i hope one day i can overcome that bc i wanna highlight n shit, that was like the second best part of reading back in school (first best part being reading itself). my lil notes and highlights 😁
@@sleepy.timaeus.arts.what helped me get over my fear of altering my books was just underlining with pencil and then marking with a colored tab. You can always erase the pencil!
I only started doing that this year and I'm not sure why I felt like I couldn't before!
@@kkatlynismyname That's what I do
This is amazing❤ Books can sometimes be the best friends.
“Slight brain movement, not brain strain” this is exactly what I look for in my hobbies. Thank you for this list! 💜
Dont forget for my budget baddies to utilize your dollar tree! I recently found a gem painting there. They have cross-stitch from time to time. And they always have coloring books for adults and kids. A lot of the crafts are simple/basic, but if you decide you like the craft you can invest in ones from Amazon, hobby lobby, etc. ❤
I just found an amiguri crochet kit at ours that I plan to try out.
@@wintersprite lucky you ❤️
Definitely going my local dollar tree to see if they have the gem painting kits. Those look fun to do. :)
Just found some flower "Legos " as well as 4 different felting kits. So cute. Still hoping to come across the crotchet kits
Something to add on puzzles- my grandpa was a “chronic puzzler” haha he was always doing puzzles but he would take his favorite ones when he was finished and mod podge it and use it as wall art. All of his kids and grandkids got to keep one when he passed and it’s such a sweet memory we all have of him 🥰
I have a couple of American Girl puzzles that were marketed that way (minus the mod podge). They were frame puzzle kits, each with a set of three puzzles and a plastic frame. You could put the puzzle together in the frame and then hang it on the wall.
In a world of cellphones picking up hobbies like this is more important than ever. Thanks for putting that out there :)
I am 36. I was doing the Millennial thing and decluttering my t-shirt drawer. I FOUND STRAY PERLER BEADS IN THE BOTTOM OF MY DRAWER!! I found it crazy because I have moved to 5 different houses with my bedroom suite. Don't mind me if I imagine those perler beads were a gift from a nostalgia fairy.....
Collecting can also be free in nature like leaves and rocks and shells 😊♥️
Ahhhh so true!!!
Bonus if you call your rocks “Pet Rocks”. My mom actually has an official one from the 1970s/‘80s.
With shells and small rocks, you could use them for various crafts. Smooth rocks could be painted on. Or they could be kept as is too (or a combo).
This is how I got my hog skull!!
One of my latest hobbies is making my own stickers!! Just paper, supplies for drawing & coloring (coloring pencils for me!), scissors and paper glue -- and I made my own custom stickers to glue anywhere! I've always loved stickers, I used to collect them as a child and show off rare/flashy/expensive ones to my friends, but now I feel like I own real exclusive designs :') of course, with these materials, it's not the same quality as bought stickers with their plastic and such -- but they hold up really well! Once I stick 'em, I rarely need to fix them. In the rare cases where the glue starts wearing off on one part of the sticker, I just use something small and thin akin to a toothpick to apply a bit of glue to that place again. Though, because paper easily folds and softens when lots of supstance is applied to it, be careful not to put too much glue on or under it -- I had learn this firsthand lol.
Another hobby I'm about to experiment with is paper crafts -- specifically making sculptures by folding paper, perhaps better known as origami! Though the idea of cutting, coloring and gluing paper pieces together like you suggested sounds just as fun!!
Drawing and coloring, however, are hobbies that saved my mental health. I draw or color any time I feel anxious or depressed. The concentration and focus from this task relaxes and heals me. Any of the hobbies that creates focus and concentration do help -- it doesn't have to be difficult, as long as it keeps your attention. I feel so rested after I finish, it's like I meditated!
I'll definitely look into beading though, I'd love to make custom keychains and such 👀
That's cool that you mentioned online communities. I'd always been a silent viewer until this year I decided I was going to start commenting more on almost every video! It gives the same feeling as annotating because it makes me think about what I've watched and how I want to engage with the content I consume. It always gives me perspective on if I'm watching something because I want to or because it was fed to me by an algorithm
i love that!! that’s such a good point
Yay! So excited to start a new hobby! I’m a serial hobby starter lol I may not finish but I’ll always start 💪🏾😁
right there with ya!🤎
I love how passionate and positive and happy you are when talking about these hobbies! Really makes me wanna get back into hobbies like these:) thank you!!!
One of my favorite cozy hobbies, is to make lists of hobbies I'm going to start...🤣 I am so bad. I have so many lists, heh.
So, I decided years ago if I don't get past the list part sometimes, why not make the lists fancy projects themsleves?
I love cute stationary, unique pens, etc. Sometimes I'll even do little doodles (I'm also an artist) on my lists.
I used to feel guilty about not accomplishing some of the activities I put on the lists, but now I go back and look at old lists, and they've kind of become a fun way for me to see what my goals were in past years. The lists have changed so much.
We get shamed so much in this society for starting stuff we never finish...so now I just enjoy the earlier steps, if I never get past certain things.
Thank you for some cool additional ideas, cozy lady. I will add them to my new lists! 📜📝✍️💗
This resonates with me so much.
I am also a lister lol, and I’ve started making journals out of it! I did a bullet journal back in 2019 that I didn’t think much of at the time, but I look back and really love and appreciate the drawings, detail, lists, even for the pages/spreads I didn’t finish. I have little notes to myself, blurbs about my day, cute and creative themes, it’s like a time capsule.
I’m not sure I could commit myself to another one (Im not even sure how I had time for it back then?!) but I have tried to start a mini journal of hobbies and fitness-basically a way to document the things I want to do or try or am doing, either this year or in the future. It’s okay if I don’t do it all, there’s enjoyment in the process!
For the low budget cuties, shell collecting and thrifting in the collection category. You can also paint shells into little ring dishes or make cute little pendants for jewellery
The thing I love with colouring is that it’s really versatile it can be as easy or complex as you want to make it! It’s the best! 🥰😍
so truee!!
This is what I'm aiming for, learning about techniques to improve.
I agree. I stick to the color-by-number books because even picking colors can stress me out. Luckily, I really enjoy the mosaic look that a lot of the color-by-number books have.
I totally forgot about the paper dolls!!!!!! And it made me remember the wooden ones where you put the different fabrics underneath them to make clothes! Me and my sisters loved them!
those were my favorite!!!!
This is a great list. There is something for everyone. More importantly it reminds us to take time for the things we enjoy. Doing something you look forward to daily really does make life more fun to live.
I love the idea of revisiting childhood hobbies, but also what you said about experiencing things/hobbies we feel we missed out on! Lego, or whatever! Heal that jealous inner child, and do the things we saw other kids doing that we couldn't, for whatever reason! That's really inspiring and exciting! Makes me want to hit the toy store and buy things i wasn't allowed to as a kid!!😊😊😊❤❤❤
I definitely agree with the content creating as a hobby. I started building keyboards in 2021 and really have connected with the keyboard enthusiast community. I don’t always record the building process, but sharing the builds and typing tests and cute keycap sets and artisans and helping people as they get into the hobby too is so fun! That and letting people see someone who looks like them, as a black woman, in such a largely male hobby is a different kind of fulfilling 🥰
I love making bracelets, it was always a hobby that me and my mom worked on when I was younger
for me the most activity cozy are draw my tablet, complete puzzlez, watching my fav streaming show , play video games.
You just opened my mind to a whole new world of off-brand Legos. I've been struggling to keep a hobby (im an artist but i haven't had any time or energy to paint or draw) but i always found the idea of building Lego sets to be very appealing, but the prices were INSANE. I just went onto Amazon and looked at other brands of building bricks that i had no idea even existed. I look forward to starting a new hobby with these "Lego" sets. Thank you so much for this wonderful video!
As a UK watcher i was curious about "pearler beads" ...the nostalgia i felt when i realised!! We call them "hammer beads" i used to do them daily i forgot they existed 😂💓
I do most of the hobbies you listed but I’d love to add one to consider. Nail polish! It doesn’t really take anything much to start and anyone can do it. Like any hobby though, there are a few things that boost success. Maybe a little spill safe fold table, good light, base polish and quick dry glossy topcoat polish, cotton balls and a good remover. You could stop at that set up but the world of polish is vast. It’s also satisfying and addictive to get into indie brands, collecting sets, adjacent skills like polish stamping, or nail art, plus branching from lacquer into gels. The community is great and the time for rewarding self care is built in!
"Tangible proof of rest"...This really hit me. Such a beautiful way to look at it.
Other fun and easy yarn hobbies are punch needling, looming, and latch hooking! My mom used to do latch hooking in the 80's and I was telling her about all the new yarn hobbies I was learning like punch needling, looming, crochet, and knitting, and she said to try it out. I found a super cheap kit on Amazon and it is so simple and so difficult to mess up.
I recently bought supplies to make a latch hook rug for my American Girl Addy doll. It’s one of the crafts in her Craft book.
I love latch hooking but I’m always stumped about what to do with them when I’m done. What do you do with yours?
Okay I feel like a total hobby hoarder cause I think I tried all of these that you mentioned in the video 😂 my favorites are definitely coloring books and Lego. I collect modular buildings, I also have this huge Rivendell set that you showed and let me tell you it’s one of the best sets I’ve ever build ❤ pricey but took me almost two months to to build so kinda worth it 😂😂 and the building techniques they used in this set are soooo cool😍
What a perfect timing for this video! I just had a back surgery and I'm tired of playing Sims and watching shows, and I need something to do where I can just lay down. So this activity book is perfect, I would have never thought of this. Thank you for the ideas!! :)
Its weird but to prove the point of "your grandma can pick up animal crossing and get into it" I've had a lot of events that got me thinking about the... end of life. And I saw at least 4 people just sobbing and recommending 10/10 spiritfarer, found it on sale on steam. And got it. And omg this game IS for me and I would have NEVERRRR thought myself of a gamer😅 so you truly never really know what you will pick up and love❤❤❤
Currently recovering from my hysterectomy, so perfect timing ❤
sending love and healing!🫶🏽
Love these ideas and all your videos! They made me realize that I needed to spend more time living in the present, so I bought coloring books and supplies and I've been really enjoying it so far. Thank you so much!
Hi Kennedy! If you're looking for markers that don't bleed, just go for the one water-based. The ones that bleed are the alcohol-based markers :)
ahhh thank you!!
@@CozyK You're welcome 🙂
Also, if you have a coloring book with images printed on only one side and don’t mind bleed on the blank back, add a sheet or two of paper behind the page you’re coloring and use alcohol markers. You could even take a pen and turn that back into a “reverse coloring” page.
I've taken up coloring books after being inspired by you. I realized I prefer coloring my own drawings rather than finding books that fit my exact aesthetic, but I'm not always in the mood for drawing. 😅
One hobby that I’ve been wanting to get back into is junk scrapbooking :) collecting receipts, tags, stickers etc to make journal spreads that reflect memories!
Embroidery is definitely a learning curve😳
I've completed a few projects but I would love to try cross stitching so I don’t have to learn SO many stitches and be able to finish them faster!
I think needle felting/poking is a good beginner hobby also 🙂
Thanks for the video! 💗
There's a huge cross-stitching community on youtube! If you search the term "flosstube", you'll find lots of different cross-stitch channels. I watch people in a variety of age brackets (20's and up). The types of projects also vary wildly. You can also search "WIP Parade", which is where flosstubers show all their works-in-progress --- that's a good way to see which types of projects each creator gravitates towards. I used to embroider then switched to cross-stitch because I find it less brain-intensive 😁.
I remember my mom buying me paper dolls at the grocery store as a kid. I loved them! I had a lot of Disney princess paper dolls.
You're the reason I picked coloring books up and now I have a literal drawer just dedicated to my favorite books and coloring tools lol. Thank you always!
I would add:
- customizing my phone (creating a new lockscreen or wallpaper, designing new icons and such! Making it look cute!)
- Also designing on canva! Even the free version you can make new things with it! Post-its or to do lists that you can print! Its really easy to do!
It's always the videos I watch for 'background noise' that I find valuable. I'm a Xennial, but I also relate to content creation as a hobby. Boomers & whatever gen my grandmother belongs to always ,'say no one cares about your thoughts or opinions', so I found your take refreshing.
I do the book thing with my Kindle books as you can color code highlights.
So much of what you saus relatable, but this comment is already too long.
Love your cozy hobbies. I will definitely give seasonal coloring books with Super tip Crayola !
When you talked about puzzles, I immediately thought of Legos. I was going to comment that they are a good hobby. I was really happy when you talked about them after puzzles. When I build them, I spread out the cost by taking 2 or 3 days to complete each bag
on the topic of getting back into childhood hobbies- i recommend shrinky dinks!! so nostalgic and so many cute things you can do with them (i love to make my own earrings out of shrinky dinks and hooks from michael’s) and you can even do them with certain recycled plastics!
I dream of that Rivendell Lego set. One day!
I took a color theory class in college and it was all construction paper art and it was so much fun, my favorite assignment every week!
You just reminded me my boyfriend and I are supossed to do a Lego set this weekend! Also thank you so much for helping me reignite the joyful hobbies I have in my life! Love you! ❤
Thanks for turning me back on to construction paper art! I literally was always doing this growing up
the way u were like “its done! its done! its so easy!” was giving perler bead infomercial LMAO i love it
Love this video! I absolutely love coloring and turned my hobby into content creating too! I made one video over 3 years ago and I was so surprised when I got views. Now I get to do what I love and share it with others. I love all your videos, cozy hobbies and cozy gaming!
I honestly need more hobbies besides crochet, so this list is perfect for me thank you so much!
I'd love ideas for what to do with your crafts after you make them (especially one that you do more for fun than for the end result). Do you cycle through displays? Do you have a little box that you keep them in? Any recycling ideas? I'm always curious about what other people do with the things they make!
pearled beads and aqua beads were my whole childhood, i would be doing those all summer long at summer camp and home! thanks for that nostalgia ☺️
first time watching one of your videos and i just wanted to say you are so darn precious!! your energy and just all around presence is so refreshing and i was genuinely smiling and feeling at peace just hearing you speak! definitely am subscribing and gonna be watching more of your videos! especially since this year i’m trying to get more into hobbies and doing fun, creative things instead of being on my phone. thank you for this!💗
To preserve a colouring book, a great idea is to photocopy it. Or if the artist has digitable ones then its easy to print.
Try Wobbly Life!!!! It's so cute and random! You can get a job, buy stuff and a house, you can explore the world, drive cars, fly airplanes, ride roller-coasters and so much more. I love it just as much as my kids lol
omg def checking it out! i love those types of games!!
Thank you sooo sooo much for this! This couldn't have come at a better time. I've been really longing for some fun easy hobbies over the winter. But I am neurodivergent/have a learning disability and find learning new concepts challenging especially if I try to go at a new hobby alone. This has given me several ideas and reminded me of some I already enjoy or wanted to do. I like the point you had on picking some smaller sized projects, less intimidating and keeps you from boredom!
TH-cam show me this video in recommendations and I am so grateful for it. I love your energy, you are so inspiring and cheerful. I am definitly staying here and subscribe, I really need such a cosy place on TH-cam. Hugs from Poland! ❤️
One of my favorite hobbies, is journaling and decorating your journal. So much fun and doesnt have to cost much
I recently treated myself and got some toys for my collection lol I love collecting all things cute and nostalgic and some toys that I wasn’t able to have as a kid cause my parents couldn’t afford it,I now have bought for myself.😊my older sis bought me a calico critter as a gift and I’m glad I can now say I have them apart of my collection. Picking up hobbies is something I’m glad I’m trying to get into and doing things that interest me or buying things when I can that bring me joy actually makes me happy 😊
My goal this year is to explore more hobbies❤ I love this video, gives me great ideas. Currently love the coloring. Also the legos is my current fav bc the flowers options. 🌸🌹
Love this! My current favorite cozy hobby is building miniatures. I started with a kit that took me years then I discovered the simple little Miniverse kits! Now I can squeeze in some cozy crafting in the work week.
I loved this! Thank you so much for all the ideas and for putting images of everything you talked about. I'm inspired and can't wait to start many of them.
thank you so much for this video! I have been playing so much ACNH and cozy grove that I am not doing anything else .I have been looking for more cozy hobbies that are not games.I will definitely be doing a lot of these!
Puzzles and legos are my fave ! 🧩💕
I love how you always get me so excited to happyyyy!!!! 😭😭😭🩷🩷🩷
your videos are all so soothing, thank you for them ❤
I loved all these ideas!! I'm deffinatly gonna use them. My two major rainy day hobbies are Photography and rubber band\Jewlery making 😊🌼💛🌻
my favourite hobbies are gaming, reading and drawing. I havent drawn much but I bought myself an art diary and some colour pencils and I'm keen to get back into it. Also the construction paper art looks awesome! I might have to give is a go st some point :)
This is a gem of a video, honestly one of the best on TH-cam. You're so positive and you make all these things feel okay for us adults to do :) I was avoiding them because people have made me feel strange or weird for liking these things in the past so I stopped, but you've sparked so much interest back into me with just watching the first video of yours I've seen. You've earned a new subscriber 😊
Ok but that new cam makes all the difference! Just got me a new coloring book. I love it because it keeps me off my phone while I watch tv or a movie. Going to try cross stitching finally this year.
Also just bought some air dry clay, but haven’t figured out what to do with it yet??
pinterest has the bEST inspo for air dry clay projects!!
Perfect video to enjoy my Sunday morning coffee with 🥰 thank you for sharing ❤
Hi Cozy K I colored in my coloring book today and all of my worries are gone and I just started doing a woobles kit and I am crocheting 🧶 Pierre the penguin 🐧 with my auntie Heather
I want to say thank you for your thoughts on content creation and more so communities. I have been loving gaming content, your gaming content got me started! and while I don't have the funds to get my own console atm (I am saving up for my first switch!) I have so enjoyed just exploring the world of cozy gaming. I have also been binging your stardew play with me's while doing other cozy hobbies and chores and loving it!
You give out such a pleasant and happy vibe!
I kept seeing this channel pop up on my feed and I finally watched one! What an awesome video! I didn’t realize there were so many other people who enjoyed things like sticker pages and activity books as adults and it makes me so happy! ☺️💕
Im so happy this video was recommended to me! My biggest hurdle to creating content is I feel the pressure of having to make daily or weekly uploads amd I get mad imposter syndrome bc I am not a youtuber 😂 I love making makeup videos and hauls. Maybe now I'll try it
I did those perler beads as a child too, and that was during 2018!! time flies!!!
Hi Kennedy!!!❤ I love doing Zentangle for stress relief, and I just got a new punch needling kit to try out that looks really fun!❤ I highly recommend it for anyone who likes doing embroidery, knitting, or crochet! I also love coloring, and I’m definitely going to try the Crayola Supertips you recommend! Tysm, Kennedy!!!😊 Love you and your videos!❤❤❤
I know you like to keep it as relatively easy hobbies to get into, but have you ever considered planning out a selection of investment heavy/skill heavy hobbies, and doing a series of first steps videos for each one, maybe even collabing with other influencers from that hobby as a guide?
Junk journals are great
I play a lot of Minecraft, and I have spent many an hour to make my base as cozy as possible. Flower fields, animal pens, a flower greenhouse, lots of bees flying around. A fishing shack where I can just relax and catch fish or find treasures.
For those who want to create content without spending too much time on social media: I recommend zine making! You can create whatever you like using scissors, crayons, glue etc and distribute to your friends, leave them in little libraries, or just collect them for yourself! There’s a big zine community and it’s a perfect way to find others who have the same niche interests as you
Also inexpensive cozy collection: bird identification list (birding)!, pen pal letters/post cards, rocks/seashells, flowers to dry/press
my first bobbie goods coloring book just came in today! i’m so excited!!
Love this list! Would like to add scrapbooking, especially if you like to horde packaging and stickers. All you need is a notebook, glue and scissors. Maybe different pens and markers if your budget is a bit bigger.
I love this channel it makes me feel so good 😊
I love your energy and I love these ideas!!
Omg! I do SO many of these hobbies and I sell them too at craft shows! People eat them up!! I love your videos so much! ❤
Love this list. I have been looking for easy hobbies for years, and i actually have quite a few of these.
I also recommend hobbies for anyone as they age. It does more for you than you think. My mom has only watched TV for years and it had a bad impact on her mental ability.
I've moved in with mom now, and I'm forcing her to do easy activities 5 days a week to help her improve. Sticker by number is her favorite. Word search i have to help or it'll take hours. Mazes are better than word search, but worse than spot the difference books. Got her painting today, and she will be trying small 25 piece jigsaw puzzles tomorrow.
Thank you!! So many hobbies I want to start now, I’ve been needing to find something peaceful and calming to replace doom scrolling but couldn’t think of any ideas past gaming or colouring
I heard perler beads and immediately pulled some out to play with. I really enjoyed your video, thank you for helping getting my creativity flowing again!
My grandson is almost six and the other day he was just dreaming aloud about how much he would love a Gudetama phone app game. Not sure if there is one available. But he was just imagining different levels, and storyline, and boss battles and objectives. And it was actually so satisfying and captivating to listen to him. Maybe I should count grandparenting as one of my hobbies! 😂
Grandparenting is definitely a hobby😂🤎
I needed this!!! You'll have to keep us updated on the construction paper journey 🤗
I think that Crayola is water based and the other kinds are alcohol based which is why they bleed through.
Yes, I was going to say that it's not quite the same use
Thank you for saying all the stuff to do, I already did most of them :)
Thank you for this list! I always wish I had a hobby, but never know where to start or what to do!
This is such a cute video/channel I'm so happy rn!
Your suggestions really inspire me! One hobby to add: blackout poetry. I get the books from Little Free Libraries! A question for you - What do you do with your projects when you're done (like the gem painting, construction paper art, etc.)? I don't have room to display everything. I give most as gifts, but it's still a lot!
I just keep the kind of piled up in a basket but I’d love to hear what other people do too!
Thanks for the captions!! ❤
I love this video. I'd never thought of hobbies as being 'cosy' before! I also tried gem painting but started with a giant one and never picked it up again!
Thank you so much for recommending a cheaper option of markers! I’m just starting my cozy hobby of coloring.
