The NHS is not as you would remember it, and in truth it always had its covert agenda to commit euthanasia on some either directly or indirectly, especially the elderly. Been done more than once in my older family. Proving it wouldn't be possible.

Retired doctor here, son of a GP. My father qualified in 1946. When I started studying for the MRCP (internal medicine qualification in the UK) I was discussing diabetes with my dad, specifically dietary advice - avoid starchy food, was his comment. Oh how I laughed! All the latest research tells us that these people need to avoid fat! They should be eating carbs all the time, I told him.
How wrong I was, and how I miss him.

Recently I read one of the Richard Gordon's Dr in the House books ( written in about 1952 ) and there is a scene in there where a doctor says to his colleague something like ' don't put too much sugar in your tea - sugar is fattening ' . So that knowledge was obviously there before the low fat craze came in .

Casava is a staple. It's starchy and often fried. But the indigenous people who eat it most days are not if diabetic populations. Same for pasta lts the soft drinks and candy and pricessed foods that kick this into gear. Americans are hypochondriacs. And diabetes is one of their favorite "conditions". My numerologist friend told me diabetes is ruled by the #26. Cogito ergo sum .most every woman friend I have known is on pills, cig or booze. They eat out all the time and this includes fast food. My healthiest woman friend is same as myself, a gardener. I recommend a food additive book to everyone of my friends who don't read labels. Remember I tell them, you're eating for two. Today and tomorrow. You can quote me. 🍆

Don't; the treatment for diabetes was, until big pharma, and manufacturers took over, and should still be low carbohydrate, no seed oils, animal based diet.
That diet saved lives when there were no drugs.
You don't want any drugs unless you are type 1 and even then low carb keeps insulin needs down in type 1.
Insulin in excess is as deadly as sugar.
As a type 2 you have too much insulin but the cells can't cope with all the sugar from fruit veggies bread pasta wheat etc.
If you go on a high carb you will never get your sugar down unless you starve yourself.
Unless you eat animal based, Over the years you will become deficient in essential nutrients. That no plant has.
My strict vegetarian friend since 14 yrs old now 50s can not get her sugar near normal. Her health is terrible. She needs hip replacement her thyroid is nackered, she feels ill, she will not change.

I am now 78 and live in the UK. I adopted a high fat low carb diet (now called keto) 8 years ago and have never looked back. I was pre-diabetic, obese and had arthritis in both hips which sometimes immobilised me and also had arthritis in my lower back which interfered with my sleep. I lost 60 lbs over the first two years and better still, have not regained any. I have not had any arthritis symptoms for a good 4 or 5 years now and I walk 3 brisk miles four times a week. I am very very happy to have found the right way to live and feel energised but I do regret all those years when my life could have been fuller.
    Bless you.

Interestingly , my lipids were normal even though I have increased my fats some 10 fold !! I know keto doesn't increase your lipid profile but it's difficult to believe it until you see it !!).

My wife is struggling to eat anything at all after being diagnosed Type II and her doctor started her on Metformin about three months ago. I am very concerned the Metformin might actually prevent ENOUGH glucose from being metabolized as she has lost 5 kg in three months and now weighs only 43 kg (she thank God has gained back 1 kg). She also appears to have developed some retinopathy in a short time and i am also wondering if the Metformin is doing this. Her readings have improved from average 14 to averaging 8/9 and we are trusting God to cure her over time; but i am not comfortable with the approach her doctor is making. Her doctors want to push her immediately onto insulin. We are finding it difficult to manage her meals as she refuses to eat all carbs and i know that eating vegetables is not nearly enough. Thankfully, she is ok eating plenty of meat, eggs and healthy fats. She avoids almost all potatoes, rice and white bread; but i fear that her abstinence on carbs is the wrong approach.

      @TrueLoveNetwork
If you are insulin resistant, ( the fat hormone) would you add more insulin to your system and flood it even more with it?. That's what metformin does. It only cures the effects, (temporarely) but not the cause.
It's like having a tooth acke, and you take paracetamol to kill the pains. You have cured the pains for the time being but not the cause, as the infection is still there.
To cure insuline resistance, you need to avoid the foods that spike your sugars levels up, therefore triggering an insuline responce to process the sugars. But if you've become insuline resistante, it stays in your system circulating your body. To stop this vicious process you need to minimize foods that trigger an insulin responce. Your wife is doing the correct thing avoiding all the sugary carbs. Do not stop her. Just ditch the Metformin, and research a method to keep the right level of glucose for her needs, without spiking an insulin responce all the time. And remember the more often you eat the more often your insulin responce gets triggered. So encourage her to eat all of her dietary requirements of micros and calories within two sittings to reach satiety. Do not snack all the time.
All of these i have experienced with my own body, and i have reversed diabetes and achieved leaness at the same time. For my carbs intake i eat plenty of cruciferous low glycemic vegetables, and leafy greens.
Hope it helps. Good luck in her journey.
      Sergio.

So you’re saying that’s why doctors like this go on social media? Before there was insulin, there was unsweetened oatmeal and whole-grain rice: standard and effective treatments for T2D, which the US and UK agencies need to be explicit about, along with avoidance of junk foods / candy, etc. The research with fruit consumption in diabetics is also quite good, and that’s why they recommend it. The doctor hasn’t done his homework, which is why he is outside of consensus in the field. It is all the sugary drinks and other poor dietary habits that are the principal cause of the rise in diabetes, not centuries-long practices for treating it. Social media is a collecting ground for poor work and poor advice that doesn’t cut it with peers.

I read of a Type 1 diabetic who told her endocrinologist that by eating a low carb diet she could control her BG much more closely with far less insulin. This is so commonplace as to be unremarkable and you might expect an endocrinologist to know this. Instead he sectioned her with an "eating disorder" and they wouldn't let her out until she at carbs in front of them!

With a diabetes nurse present at breakfast they were given cereal with milk, a glass of milk, a cup of tea, a glass of fresh orange juice, a fruit yoghurt, an apple, orange and banana. Sugar !! With in minutes they were sleeping again. One woman woke with sugar level of 7. After breakfast it was 23 and she was sleeping in the presence of a nurse. Had severe arthritis in my right hand for many years to the point were my doctor was considering steroid injections. I have also had back pain from a road accident when I was 16. Had followed the government and NHS guidelines on diet for many years, cut out animal fats, used vegetable and seed oils, margarine and limited eggs and dairy. Red meats were very rare in my diet. After my wife passed away 4 years ago I decided to change my diet completely. Eliminated veg and seed oils, started eating lots of eggs, cheese, butter and dairy. Red meat often, particularly pork as it is a major source of essential nutrients. Cook mainly in animal fats. Cut down on carbs but still plenty of fruit and vegetables. Use olive oil and occasionally 'Cold Pressed' rapeseed oil. I cook from fresh or frozen with ready meals a rarity. Mainly a pizza once every couple of months as a treat. Within a year my arthritis had gone, I lost over 2 stone and I have just realised my back pain has gone. Not bad for an old codger aged 77. I can still chase the youngest grandchildren round and play garden badminton with them. My conclusion is 90% of good health is diet!!!!
Always had backache from the age of 16 when I decided to argue with a van, the van won and I had a broken leg, a back injury and some short term memory brain damage. Over time the brain learns to ignore the pain although it is always present. Suddenly realised my back pain has gone. Says it all really. Diet is king!

I pushed a little and asked her is there something else he can eat that would be better for him. She responded cereal is fine as long as it's not more than a cup. :( Doc, my father doesn't listen to anything I tell him, only listens to the Doctors and professionals. I tried so hard to get them to just give him other suggestions and they didn't. His A1C is very slowly creeping up. He is like a zombie some days. He won't speak and will sleep often. I also try to guide my mother, 'You don't have to give him bread at every meal. Skip it once in a while at least.' She won't listen either. We live in a strange world. It's very frustrating. I found cutting out the main culprits is the best way to go. Those are all oils, anything that is made from any four, legumes, and grain. Everything will fall into place as far as cholesterol, energy, cravings.... Good luck on no longer smoking. I also stopped, but it's been years now. When I was first diagnosed with T2D, I was put on a similar diet which actually made my diabetes worse! They then put me on insulin which made me gain up to 2lb a week! Keto and fasting was the solution for me. No insulin or any diabetic meds now. I started doing keto in 2015, before Keto was mainstream. A nurse friend told me it was dangerous and only for ppl with seisures- but it was working and I felt great. Doctors told me that my results were aberrant, and that it was unhealthy. My oh my how things have changed in the last 9 years.

I also started keto I 2015 and was told how unhealthy it was and how bad it was for my health and the fat consumption would lead to heart issues... blah blah blah.... I was losing weight, gaining energy and feeling great so I ignored their warnings, 9 years later I am med free and maintaining my ideal weight for 8 yrs and have not seen a doctor once! The real reason they caution us about keto I've realized is because we don't need medical interventions, on a keto diet the body receives what it needs to maintain and fix itself, throw in intermittent fasting and we have a a good blue print for self regulating our health.

Curiously - We have a kitty that's been diagnosed as diabetic, and the recommendation was to fee low carb/high protein regimented meals. They recommended a certain brand of high end food for 'overweight management' as an ideal food to feed our pet. I wanted to learn more about how to evaluate cat foods in order to make good choices for Grady, and worked up a spreadsheet to evaluate the guaranteed levels of protein, fat, moisture, fiber and ash... I discovered that the 'recommended' diet is far less than ideal for our pet who is not overweight! The carb content is much higher in the recommended expensive food than in the stuff we're already feeding him!
People must really stay on their toes these days... Meanwhile, they keep telling us to NOT do our own research.
    It just makes me crazy...

Great video! Imho the key is to get control of breakfast first. I used to eat instant oatmeal wth lowfat yogurt thinking I was being healthy, until I saw tht the glycemic index was higher than table sugar. Once I fixed breakfast it was much easier to resist snaking and carbs throughout the day. Dropped 75lbs in 3 months without dieting or crazy exercise.

My son was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 19 years old. Upon arriving at the hospital, we found out his blood sugar was over 1000. The doctor was surprised he wasn't in a coma! After this newly diagnosed condition {and the proper in hospital education for what would now be his new normal routine of constant finger pricks, glucose monitoring and a completely revamped diet} could you guess what they fed him while he recovered in the hospital? That's right! Pasta and ice cream!🙄 He's 26 now and diabetes management has come a long way. Thank goodness! Thanks Dr. Dhand for another great video. Fasting and a low carb diest is the real answer when it comes to t2 diabetes! It is amazing to me what the gov pushes on us for the profits of their buddies! Some benefits of occasional extended fasting and lowering carbs in the diet: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time, including in the heart and lungs.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy. When insulin is high, vit D stays locked in the blood cells.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion plaques, growths and pathogens by the immune system. This will also remove spikes quicker, whether natural or unnatural in origin!
Your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies in a 72h fast, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps with autoimmune disease, cancers and cytokine storm.
Fasting restores NAD+ and increases nitric oxide release to open blood vessels.
Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
Clots and plaques are removed over time due to accelerated phsocytosis.
Fasting improves your circadian rhythm to normal over time.
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, reducing inflammation and allowing the immune bodies to move freely through the body.
T cells and T reg cells are vital in fighting cancer, autoimmune disease and infections. As we age, the thymus stops making as many of them but fasting releases stem cells, which then can become new T cells. It also releases growth hormone, which regenerates the thymus itself!
Fasting increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors and increases average telomere length in stem cell pools.
Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures.
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell required for viruses to replicate.
The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast but most teas and herbs are OK. Supplements and meds often break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.
Fasting activates autophagy (literally self eating). This will cause cells to recycle damaged proteins and foreign matter such as viruses.
Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.
Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue!
The obese will lose loose skin while fasting, but the frail will have increased growth hormone release, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness.
Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility for some women.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitochondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention!
Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system, just like the effect of CBD oil
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting. When the fast is completed, your stomach acid levels will be normalized.
Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids.
Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood. This stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, which can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with.
Fasting increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting!
Glycine and trimethylglycine can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice.

I have been a patient in Hospital several times over the last couple of years (not diabetes related). I was absolutely horrified at the meals on offer for patients. I have been following a low carb diet. They cater for every type of diet, halal, vegan etc. BUT NOT DIABETES!!! The breakfast offerings are limited to cereals or toast & JAM! When I asked about porridge they only offered READY BREK!!! It's not even real porridge! The lunch meal wasn't too bad and you could adapt what they offered but the evening meal was SANDWICHES!!! When I complained that they weren't catering for diabetics they said that these meals were designed by the hospital dietitians!! The only way I could get a Diabetic friendly low carb meal was to ask someone to go to the food court and buy a ham & egg salad from the M&S outlet. The last time I was in I was too ill to fight. So I ate their disgusting meals and then got told off because my BG levels were going too high!! Their other solution was to offer me items that were full of artificial sweeteners. I am allergic to Artificial Sweeteners, they give me symptoms of a stroke! When I tried to tell them about the research I had done on Low-carb the doctors said they had never heard of it!!!!

As a recovered type 2 diabetic, I agree with everything said in this episode, I was diagnosed in 2017, good job I panicked and immediately went on a fast track keto and intermittent diet and life style, within 2 months I reduced my weight by 2 stones and have continued with this eating plan and remain at a stable weight. When I go for my yearly diabetic review, NHS staff appear astonished as to my HbA1c blood results , which are always at a healthy level, leading me to believe I wasn’t supposed to recover.

NO doctor or nurse have told her to quit sugar and other "food" that causes inflammation! Only me (her daughter) and my grown kid have told her to go on a diet. Guess what the hospital did; they gave her strawberry lemonade and a bag of CANDY!, plus the other "normal food". She is not doing good at all, and I don't know how to get her to understand that what I say is correct.

Senior citizen's center in Skagit valley WA. routinely serves birthday cake, white bread, pasta, etc. The meals offered are nutritionally terrible. So are the food banks. One person in a nursing home told me they serve a lot of white rice.😮

Sadly they're structuring these meals aka garbage from the ADA food pyramid, which should have been changed a very long time ago. But, we all know it's Follow the money trail..Our body is intelligent if we allow it to be.
