@@anarchyangel0 Try to find info about healthy verisons of keto, and don't get fooled by commercial "keto snacks" = processed garbage foods. Eating whole foods is as important as not easting carb bombs all the time. (it is not known or accepted in the keto community - but apparently one can actually reverse diabetes 2 also with eating moderate amounts of fruit and starchy veggies, as long as it's not extracted macronutrients as in flour products like bread, pasta etc, and not fruit juice but whole fruit types with low to moderate glycemic index, there is some research about it - but it's easier to find established keto protocols I guess.)
Also look up "metabolic flexibility" in conjuction with keto. You may be able to have short periods of eating more carbs in between longer keto periods, which you me switch into more easily once you reached metabolic flexibility (it takes longer to get to ketosis for habitual carb fiends)
Dr Jason Fung is an MD that is much into keto-
Dr Eric Berg DC has a lot of keto info - but he gets trashed by some as he started out as chiropractor and is not an MD - but seriously, an average MD doesn't know jack about nutrition. He _is_ biased towards the keto stuff. But if you want to try how keto works for you, he is a good source, as he promotes a healthy version with whole foods etc.
Note that it's also important _when_ you eat. Not just time-restricted eating, also, the eating time window does best not end just very few hours before sleep, as some bodily functions for processing food will be impaired, and it also may worsen sleep. Also, it clashes with most people's circadian rhythm.
A lot of people seem to be doing well to have their eating window around noon to early evening. I remember a study of italian pro cyclists, where doing 7 hours from 10AM to 5PM (and the end of the eating windo means end of meal, not start of meal! ;) ), while getting the same calories as the one without that time restriction. The time-restriucted eaters were dropping weight, the others not.

Twenty years ago my husband's sugars started creeping into the diabetic range. The dr. was ready to push meds. My husband asked if there was another path. To his credit the dr. sent him to a dietitian. He lost 40 pounds and his sugars normalized. Although he is no longer as strict he has kept off most of the weight. He checks his weight daily. He checks his blood sugar weekly to make sure he is on track. So far so good!

Incredible energy, slept well, stopped getting up at night to urinate, lost weight, and certain degree of neurooathy I had disappeared like magic. No drugs! Age 73. Now my A1c is 5.3, in the completely normal range. Insulin sensitivity much improved and I now eat 2 meals a day in a 6 hour time window, and A1c remains normal.

Hi Doc Suneel , I’m type 2 and in very good shape at 57 years young 😄
I was sadly let down terribly by the health system back in 1999.
I’d felt rotten for years with a mystery illness even after attending the doctors on many occasions. Eventually in 1999 I developed the worst dry mouth I’d ever encountered even on drinking 5 litres of water a day .
I went to see the outpatient nurse, had some tests, and was confirmed in the diabetic range .
Within 2/3 days I went to see the diabetic nurse for an insulin course (instruction on how to self administer etc) and within an hour or so I was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic and immediately taking novo rapid fast acting insulin !
I spent the next 14 years with crushing hypo’s and generally an utterly miserable 😩 time .
This was after that particular diabetic nurse informed me that “it’s better to take fast acting insulin as you can eat what you want “ !!!!!! (That’s utterly true, unfortunately!!😱😨)!!
I,through inner strength and pure faith began to push myself to a point where I had virtually 0 body fat and decided to stop ✋ (without the doctor) taking novo rapid !! I just took lantus and metformin . Within a few months after much trawling through the internet medical pages I came across something called a c-peptide test to do with the beta cells ! I went to my diabetic nurse and demanded immediately that I take this test !! The diabetic nurse had not a clue what a c-peptide test was and just had a forlorn look upon her face 😮
Eventually after much trouble and almost a fight the test was presented and I eventually got the results confirming that I was type 2 !!!!!
The huge amount of damage done to my body through endless hypos was unquestionable but just too late . I’d developed gastroparesis and bowell problems as a direct result of the mis - diagnosis .
This happened under the NHS at Bournemouth Hospital 🏥…..I also now live in the USA like your good self Dr Dhand .
The sad part is that if I’d of been correctly diagnosed at first then I’m sure 👌that I’d of been off insulin within months !
The whole medical system is broken and utterly floored 😮
Listen wisely to Dr Suneel folks and have faith in his words . He absolutely knows the truth and understands deeply about the importance of real food, exercise, and staying clear of big Pharma as much as possible 💙❤️🌺✌️peace and good vibes 😎 to you all

Yes you are 110% right with this one. The joke, which you did mention but I suspect many didn't pick up on is insulin lays down fat, the fat when it is large enough sends out hormonal messages which make you feel hungry, so you eat more and take more insulin, and get fatter. Up goes the blood pressure as the fat also has to be supplied with a blood supply, then you run a risk of going blind, losing fingers and feet. due to the blood being distorted by the sugar so it can't get through the capillaries. a SAD diet is a disaster, the HFCS is killing people and it's in everything.

Thanks for sharing this. It was eye opening and it makes zero sense the way it is being "treated." In addition to people struggling with health and diabetes, our pets are suffering too. I took my cat into a vet months back and I was totally shocked that they said was very prediabetic/considered diabetic. They wanted me to start giving her shots.I asked to hold off a couple months to recheck her. She had been checked 2 or 3x to confirm her issues, prior to this last time. They also offered me an expensive prescription purina wet food, but it was full of fillers and carbs.
I went home and really dove into research about a cat's natural diet. And almost none of the cat food out there has it. Even some of the premium wet food products are full of fillers, gums, starches, wheat, peas, carrots, apples and garbage cats should not eat. I now feed her some real meat and the rest is from one brand I found that has better ingredients and more fat to keep her full - ie: chicken, chicken liver and just a couple other ingredients (no xantham or guar gum). Prior to switching her food, I was giving her really pricey high protein dry food mixed in with some pretty pricey wet food. But the dry food is the biggest problem and probably equivelant to our ultra processed garbage. After two months of eating properly, I took her in and for the first time in months, her blood sugar levels were good! The vet was so surprised and told me to keep doing what I am doing. He said no treatment is necessary. All my cats are eating this way now. Food can hurt or heal us.

@@Mary-fn5rl The main product we are using is Hound and Gatos chicken wet food. My cats don't like their other flavors. This only has a few ingredients and no guar gum (which can cause gi issues for some cats), though they use agar agar. This one contains more fat and protein than others and seems to help my cats feel full and happy. I also get them Tiki Cat After Dark and it has chicken, liver, gizzards, heart and quail egg in it. There are also places to buy real meat online. For example, Northstar Bison sells rabbit as a pet blend/food and they ship to your home. I think Instinct is another decent brand, they have good products (with chicken, duck, rabbit etc) but they contain guar gum. My cats didn't seem to have any issues wirh that brand, but its a bit higher carb than Hound and Gatos. I hope this helps!

So interesting, I think that most pets get high processed food with a lot of carbs and garbage in it. My opinion is that these dry foods in big bags are not healthy for our pets. Its just marketing. My dog eats the proper dog diet: meat. Raw ground beef, liver, heart cooked meat, egg etc. I have a chihuaha mix, very healthy and no problems with the teeth. Also she is a senior and has still the atletic lean body composition of when she was 6 months old...when I look at some video's of chihuaha dogs on you tube, they often are 'out of model' and look 'stuffed'. What is happening to us with the ultra processed foods is also happening to our pets! You can get inexpensive meats for pets, try it!

I ended up losing 80 lbs....super fast. Swimming was my exercise because of herniated discs in my back...from carrying extra weight. Then covid came. I gained everything but 10 lbs back. Last summer l did Keto lost 40 lbs...but was consumed with maintaining that sweet tooth. Every video online was showing how to make sweets with those funky sugar free substitutes...which upset my stomach. I gained 20 back. Now l am about 20 days in...sugars came down nicely, almosy completely off of Insulin and l am not focused on sugar free sweets or funky sugar free substitutes...just real food...and avoiding carbs and sugar. This time l am looking at it from a different perspective. No more poor me, l'm suffering...l am looking at it from gratitude. I just want to be well....and slender and pain free and active. Something else to consider: I've been listening to some fascinating interviews with Dr. Jack Kruse lately, who believes that diet is only a part of the problem causing a massive increase in poor human health. According to Kruse, our relationship to life itself has been declining since the introduction of artificial light and the huge number of hours we spend looking at screens that emit blue light. The damage occurs at the level of the mitochondria, a fact that very few individuals know, including doctors. The implications are profound. I can't explain all the science here in a comment, nor am I even capable, but I can share Kruse's main advice: Keep your body's natural circadian rhythm intact by following natural light patterns.
Get outside in the morning and walk in nature, without your phone!
    No sunglasses or sunscreen.
When the sun goes down, put your phone down and shut your computer down. If that's not possible, wear blue-blocking glasses (the orange kind).
    Go to bed early.
    Rise early.
    Protect your mitochondria!
I wish you all the best! 🌻

About 15 years ago I was pushing 300 lbs. Due to issues with a bum knee from a baseball injury when I was younger my weight started bothering me. I love to walk/hike and bicycle so I knew I needed to lose weight. Since then I've dropped weight, slowly without any drastic dieting and I'm now at about 180, which being 6'3" puts my weight as ideal.
Now, at 71, I thankfully have few issues. That is the good part. The bad part is these videos, which I would have loved to have seen back then., is they create a lot of stress for me. Not because of me thinking I need to change my way of life but in seeing my kids and grandkids doing the same thing I use to do. I know what they need to do, thanks to personal experience and confirmed by what I've seen watching these. I've told them that they are going down a the wrong dietary road but they don't listen. It is really stressful having to keep my mouth shut so I don't become persona non grata. Special so with the young grandkids. There own doctors should be counseling them but we know that doesn't happen. Easier to push pills.

At the age of 16 I acquired my first motorbike and stopped riding my push bike to school and back five times a day. I noticed a fall off in my physical fitness within a week and as we had school exercises once per week, I opted for cross country running. That brought back some of the fitness. As one of five children just after WWII, food was scarce and expensive and we ate home grown vegetables and things like high carbohydrate foods and sugary foods were a rare and absolute luxury. At the age of 33 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, unique in our family, including our grand parents. At the age of 40 I requested to go on insulin to achieve better control. Now 75 I am average weight for my height and 2 years ago had a heart triple bypass operation.
My advice to others is eat as little as possible as food is NEVER for pleasure, it is simply fuel for your body. About half the amount served in an Australian restaurant and one quarter in a USA one is a fair guide. Meat and two veg for a meal is a good guideline. No alcohol at all is best, never drink alcohol alone. Never smoke tobacco. Keep away from all sugary foods and if you must, limit intake to just a few grams per day. Read the nutrition panels on foods like cereals and be shocked at how much sugar is in the highly promoted ones. Find and buy the GI book which rates foods by their Glycaemic Index and eat the low ones in place of the high ones. Snatch as much excercise from daily life as you can. Walking is best.
During my heart bypass operation I had some "interesting" conversations with the Hospital staff. They were kind enough to describe me as a "diabetic expert" which is wholly incorrect, I am simply a lay person who taught myself how to best manage my diabetic condition.
Please, do the same for yourselves.
If you find all this very hard to do, good, you are on the right track. I most certainly do.

Some fasts from 36-96 h will have even more exaggerated results! Some benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting.
Fasting restores NAD+ to healthy levels.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system. It will also remove any 'foreign material' like spikes that are not supposed to be there. Whether natural or unnatural in origin..
      Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time.
Telomeres are lengthened and fasting also increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors.
Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body.
Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!
After 72 hours or more fasted, your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps prevent the onset of new autoimmune conditions, which develop through a leaky gut and damaged immune system.
Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures.
Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. The thymus also plays a vital role in fighting cancer.
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job.
Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue!
The obese will lose extra tissue like loose skin while fasting, but the skinny or frail will have increased growth hormone release than the obese, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness.
The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell required for viruses to replicate.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.
Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS.
Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system in a similar way to CBD oil.
Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function. One day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again!
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting.
Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose.
Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells
Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention!
Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice.

This is what I tell all of my diabetic patients: keto and intermittent fasting, especially for men (Women have to be careful with intermittent fasting because it can mess with your hormones). It drives me CRAZY that the standard is to put people in meds to get their blood sugar down, but then tell them to eat carbs so their blood sugar doesn’t get too low with the meds 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m on this journey right now. Mine started with severe hypoglycemia episodes. As I looked into my diet I was eating a lot of carbs. I cut a lot of carbs and added more fat and protein. I am currently wearing CGM so my Endo can find a pattern with my sugars. I am using this as a guide for what not to eat. I have seen that I can control the spikes with the right food. I am new to this so I still get some spikes but this is such an eye opener. Every PCP and MD should educate these patients as you do. Unfortunately a lot of patients do not want to hear it.

My mother, when she was alive, use to think it was a badge of honour to take the Drs recommended drugs! I tried to tell her on many occasions that Type 2 Diabetes was reversable with the eating the right foods. She wouldn't have it! Very sad indeed!

After a few years without a Dr, finally got checked. A1C was over 10! Dr mentioned insulin, I declined. Through diet, A1C is now 5.6! Seldom eat bread, potatoes or corn. Avoid processed foods/sweets. Once in awhile I'll grab a plain cake donut or a teaspoon of honey. It seemed hard at first, it's now habitual. (Have a friend who took the insulin route, $700.00 per bottle the last I heard).

I took a nutrition class years ago, and at that time, they said that activity alone could reverse to type 2. I have tried to work out in some way ever since, and try to eat healthfully so I didn't end up like my older sister. She was sendentary, ate very unhealthfully, took her insulin, and suffered an early death as a result. We CAN take control of our health if we want to. I also do a little bit of fasting every day so the insulin can kick in.

You cannot outrun an unhealthy diet. Extremely active working class people used to still drop dead of typical western "chronic" diseases. Don't eat grain, sugars, fruit or seed oils and you will keep you health and avoid middle aged spread. If beef, eggs and butter + a pinch of salt make up the bulk of your diet you will be disease free and will settle at your natural weight. No risk of diabetes and your blood pressure will not chance despite age - the old 100+your age nonsense about blood pressure was just a symptom of carb-induced insulin resistance as we aged.

You are Absolutely correct my friend, it is so refreshing to hear an actual MD speak with so much common sense! I started keto in 2016 along with intermittent fasting then OMADto avoid getting diabetes. I asked my doctor for a homa ir test with my annual physical but he always says no that insurance won't pay for it, to which I say "no worries, I'll pay for it" and I do. I still don't have diabetes. I think that a homa ir should be done At least annually, but big pharma, big agra the American diabetes association etc, etc will not be able to continue to financially rape and eventually kill all of us, Oh My!!

Prescribing exogenous insulin to a Type2 diabetic is no different than giving alcohol to an alcoholic to make them feel better. Type 2 diabetes is characterized by insulin resistance. A high fat, adequate protein, low carb (or zero carb) diet is the correct solution to reverse diabetic dysfunction.

Doc...this is so true! We were totally flabbergasted when we heard a diabetologist asking for an opinion for his patient in a diabetes forum on - how to manage diabetes without giving up alcohol & smoking? If doctors give-in to the authorities or to the patients, then ideally they should pack their bag and venture into another profession. We hope doctors are more like you & have more of the critical thinking attitude.

I know everyone says type1 is genetic, but I strongly believe the milk fed to babies is the cause. I grew up in the carribean an have never know anyone with type 1 diabetes. Most of us grew up being breastfed, but I say the milk powder and cows milk which is very sweet is the cause.

I have been diabetic for 25 years. Initially I was losing weight without dieting & having grown up with a type 1 diabetic mother I was pretty familiar with the symptoms. When I started to get very thirsty in the evenings, eventually the light bulb went on & I voiced my suspicion the the doctor who confirmed it with tests. I had had unstable blood sugar & regular hypos for several years but no one ever suggested my diet might be to blame.
When I couldn’t control it with diet, the doctor put me on a drug - & within 8 weeks I’d regained the whole 35lbs I’d lost! When I confronted the doctor, he checked his notes & discovered that instead of putting me on Metformin, he’d prescribed Daonil. Oh, says he, I don’t know why I gave you those, they can trigger weight gain. I could have throttled him. Maybe he had some kind of ‘incentive’…….🙄
Eventually, I ended up on insulin in 2003, & still no one gave me any dietary advice apart from ‘eat plenty of starchy carbs’. 😶. I’d already had IBS & Candida/fungal issues for several years, but gradually I developed other issues - neuropathy, raging restless legs, acid reflux, hiatus hernia, high BP, etc.
On being given Byetta by a Diabetic ‘Specialist’ in 2007, it trashed my already very fragile digestion completely & I eventually ended up in hospital when everything I ate was going straight through me. When the hospital doctors could find ‘nothing wrong’ (not sure what they were expecting to find with just a blood test & ultrasound), abandoned to my own devices I started researching (& have never stopped), discovered a link between my symptoms & Celiac Disease (which my mother had finally been diagnosed with just 4 weeks before she died of extreme malnutrition & multiple organ failure - they’d only had 64 years to find it…..), dumped the wheat/gluten in early 2008, & within hours - literally overnight - the diarrhoea stopped.
Very slowly, & with the help of a strict natural whole food diet & vital supplements, especially the B vitamins, I was able to rebuild my digestion & reverse all the other issues, including the so-called ‘Diabetic’ neuropathy. That was 15 years ago, & whilst I’m still diabetic, still struggle to lose weight, & have higher daily blood sugar than I would like because I have such a slow insulin response, I’m still only taking the same amount of insulin I was put on 20 years ago (40 units of), & sometimes a lot less.
Currently I am focusing on rehydration using water & mineral-rich unrefined grey, moist sea salt, which supplies the minerals the body needs in order to be able to use the water at cellular level. It’s early days, but it is helping.
Like many people, including those of us with diabetes, I am very aware that my body has been chronically dehydrated for decades. Without enough water & accompanying minerals, the cells cannot cleanse themselves, & neither can they absorb & utilise nutrients properly. Deep cellular dehydration - triggered by the highly dehydrating modern processed food & drink - is responsible for heaps of our modern diseases & ailments (look up (Dr.) Darko Velcek on here & on Rumble & Bitchute (Kefa55) - like you Suneel, very disparaging of the current paradigm). Every part of the body needs plenty of water & if it’s going straight through without touching the sides, it is of little to no benefit.
