Misa Amane should actually be like in the movie....she kills people and she said that she would kill Kira of he tried to hurt her, however, she transformed into a dumb picky childrish character from her second appearance till the last episode.
Misa Amane was created to be sociopath, however, Japan's sexism can't accept the fact that
1) Women can be as great as a man
2) Sociopath and psychopath can be female.
The wrong part is Light being so recessive. Actually, the good choice would be an epic battle between Misa, Light and L (or Misa, Light, Mikami, Near and Mello) .

really because the creator of death note said when he came up with the idea for misa he pictured her as a gothic lolita who would practily start the kira religion. Misa is better in the anime because Light always has this cheerleader next to him feeding his ego and can instantly give him the name of any rival. So yeah anime Misa much better than the try hard "smoking while cheerleading because I'm that cool" edgelord that is Mia
they could of made her more of a psycho if they wanted...i mean have u ever seen an anime called future diary.....GIRL is INSANE!...like dark psycho type....in that anime the main male character is the weak one. Unfortunately most women in anime and in media today have the princess in distress crap written into their story's. its sad... and most the time for me it makes me lose some interest in that character, always having to be saved is kinda annoying.

Anybody agreed, I honestly felt like the actor they chose for L was perfect personality wise, potentially that is. Seems like someone told him to reach as hard as the rest of the movie did though.
Sadly L in the second half was... a bad transition to end up a detective... You can't fuck that up!

@@alexusdickinson2093 You missed the point... It isn't exactly about excluding stuffs, they just altered the whole setting and characters and that's what makes it bad. Though yeah, if you've watched the movie before the anime or before reading the manga you might actually consider it to be good (except some really weird ways of dying and the weird acting). But for those who've read the manga or watched the anime it's just... a mistake, and it's very hard to imagine those characters being different than the original characters especially when it's all mentioned who they are.

"The death was good" well kinda, I guess if you like graphic scenes executed in a comical fashion then I get where you're coming from. However the entire point of Kira was that he is a brilliant and meticulous killer with strategies and tricks able to fool *L* Himself. So an ultra gore messy genocide is the opposite of that.
If they want to change the race of the characters That's on them, personally I don't mind. But they also change the character personalities. Like I said before.
Netflix's Kira is this messy boy that can't do shit with Strategy and just trying to get laid, practically the opposite of original Kira.
Netflix's Misa is this psychotic manipulative killer that uses the name of Love to kill. Meanwhile the original Misa is this lovable and submissive idol that kills for love.
And if you rewatch the entire movie, they change the entire core theme as well. Because now Kira doesn't kill for his own Justice, but for Misa, and Misa kills fucking everyone practically.
The original Death Note's message was that it's never clear who is right and wrong. We see Kira's descend into madness as he stands with his own justice becoming a frantic killer. But on the other hand, his frantic killing actually reduce the entire crime rate by a staggering 70% and all it took was just a couple of dudes and few notebooks for 6 years...

GenesisGames thats a good point. I mean i personally had a 50/50 view of the movie. Yeah it was bad, but for an American rendition it couldve been much worse. Light did show he was intelligent to a degree(doing calculus work easily for other students) tricking mia in the end and even finding a loophole in the book even if it didnt work out and watari still died. L was alright but once watari died he lost his shit. Lights father was seemingly accurate so no complaints there. But one thing i do have to say, where WAS THAT POTATO CHIP SCENE!

Fun fact I watched the Netflix death note in 7th grade and I had never watched any anime before, but I liked it a lot. Then in my sophomore year of high my friend told me to start watching anime and I figured I'd start with Death Note because I had already watched the live action and I knew I liked it. Now, I didn't remember anything except for key points from the Netflix adaptation. All I remembered was there a shinigami and a book where you put the name in and then that person died that's it. I ended up watching the anime and fell in love with it. And once I was done with it, I decided to rewatch the Netflix adaptation and I made it 5 minutes in before I said no hated it and went back to the anime.

They even stick out tongues and flip the bird at people and smoke. They're really trying to push something. Like they made Death Note one of those cringy romance movies from 2016 with disgusting relationships and people in the hospital and desperate for each other and lots of drama.... just ehhh. One thing that didn’t make sense was when Ryuk said that the highest amount of letters that had gotten written in the DeathNote was 2 yet at the start of the movie it clearly showed all 4 letters of his name were in the book.
I personally believe, that one of reasons why Light became Kira so easily is that he has never seen the results of his actions unless he became too mad to care. There was a distance between him and his crimes, he wasn't killing with his own hands and wasn't killing cruelly, so in the beginning it probably hadn't felt like a murder at all.
Here it is ruined completely, 'cause Light is just a latent maniac from the very beginning. Original Kira wants justice, so he starts killing, while this Kira starts killing and THEN decides that he wants justice.

In my opinion the movie was actually alright. Yes I can understand why lots of fans were upset because of the setting change, character twists and having little to nothing in common with the anime, but the movie itself was good and I wouldn’t take anything away from it just because of the comparison to the anime. As someone who watched the anime before the film I do agree that some of the changes were absurd and made me constantly think back to the anime but I believe that the Netflix version is still a good watch and definitely on a higher side of the bad adaptation films/shows.

But in the Netflix trailer Ryuk is the one encouraging light to use the notebook for good, which I'm guessing that later on influence light to become kita and to protect the world from bad people and stuff. WHEN in reality light is the one that decides that he is going to become God of this world he's going to judge people. Ryuk never encouraged him to kill people for justice . In multiple scenes throughout the anime we basically see that ryuk isn't going to help him (they even have a conversation about). The only times that you basically helped light was when they were hidden cameras but it was because he wanted to eat apples 💀✋ and when when the FBI was following night but that was literally because we felt like the FBI was following him and he didn't like that.
