Lol and Woody's story from This is England directed by Shane Meadows, played by Vicky McClure and Joseph Gilgun. Contains clips from the movie and the entire series so there is *sensitive content and *major spoilers if you haven't seen them, and I strongly recommend you watch this amazing movie and series first before watching this fan made video. This video also focuses on Milky (Andrew Shim) and Combo (Stephen Graham) as they're such a big part of their story.

Thats true, but his 'forgiveness is underrated mate line tells you what's what. His love/need of Lol is greater than his hatred of what was done to him.
I couldn't do that...certainly Milky would not be round my house having a drink.
I despise what the did to Woody, Combo should have smashed him again.
And Combo.. devil to saint transformation is one if the best storylines ever. Imo.
@OCpsychonaut if woody didnt over come his hate and anger for lol and milky cheating on him he would have denyed his own happyness. thats the point. he would have lived an unhappy unforfilled life deep down. hence at the weddings him and lol are so happy every minet of there dancing together, free from the passed. milky in the same moment is lost and tormented as a result of his desire for revange and his inabiltiy to forgive.
@OCpsychonaut did you watch it..? I dont undertsand who has seen all the shit lol has gone through in her life, and still hold it so against her. What she did was shit, and she clearly lied about it for too long. But you can see in the end that they love each other, Lol isn't a bad person just becasue she did a horrible thing. It took her at her lowest for Woody to realise that that stuff was in the past, and he just loved her and wanted to help her get through it. In the end he realised that he had gotten past it. Milky on the other hand, he doesnt have such an excuse of going completely of the rails and unwell. Milky was there when Woody broke down and was so worried about Lol, thats when he should have been honest, at least that Lol was really going though something.
But yeah the ending shows that forgiveness and not holding onto hate is how you live a happy life- Milky couldnt get over what Combo did, but Woody could. hence why they end the show on different ends of the spectrum
@OCpsychonaut sure, but you're tying up the notion of right and wrong with forgiveness. You're putting the wrong action into the unforgivable box, and I would just disagree here. I dont think anyone deserves forgiveness or not, its quite a personal journey made for lots of reasons, or no reason at all and you just cant get over it emotionally. Thats all fine.
For me, I couldnt see how you could forgive Milky, I agree with you there, like I say in my comment, so I dont think forgiving is something you HAVE to do. I dotn thin cheating is insignificant at all, you could see how it destroys trust and is a violation of the commitment you're making with your partner. But I don't think its the worst thing you can do, there are many ways you can break trust, and it frustrates me how cheating is always used by tv shows to portray a breakdown or lack of trust and loyalty. My point is that, I find it baffling how anyone can watch the show and see Lol as a pile of shit too. Her action was completely shitty, make no bones about it. Does that make her a shitty person? Yeah probably. But she is also an icnredibly good person at the same time, that is loyal and protects those around her even past all the ways life could have made her not so.
So I do think context is incredibly important. Milky has his own demons and reasons to sleep with Lol sure, but they were much less 'justified' than Lol's reasons. She was having a mental breakdown, and her traust of those around her was slipping away. Her way of dealing with this was through sex, which is common for those sexually abused as children. This doesnt make her justified or that she SHOULD be forgiven by Woody. But he loves her, and knows her, and DECIDED that he could and wanted to forgive her so that they both could be happy.
I think the show does this well, where Combo goes into the car with Milky and gets up when the men go into the cafe. he knows he's done wrong and he has accepted he needs to make amends. I agree shitty reasons dont justify it, all you can do is try and not be shitty going forward. This wont necessarily be accepted by the person you wronged, and in fact that can fuel your anger, like how dare you be all changed and moral, I've also had to deal with this and I've got this anger inside of me that you put there, good for you fro gettign over it.
At the end of the day thats what the show is about, that empathy and learning to accept and move on from your past is the only way to live with any sort of happiness. You may not deserve to have been forgiven, or it may not be right that you forgave someone, but ultimately we're all human and make mistakes. Its just deciding where your line is that you cant get past. For me, I dont understand how you can watch the show and not have empathy for Lol.

This series focuses on Combo, Milky, Woody, and LOL forgiveness but totally forgets that Meggy, Banjo, Shaun, and Gadget all joined the United Front with Combo in the movie. Woody also has a swastika tattoo on his left inner forearm.

Jesus effing Christ this movie+show is so damn underrated. It’s an absolute masterpiece. Phenomenal acting, writing, everything.

Joe Gilgun is a SAINT and a GENIUS. Damn this man can take me away...Tears and belly laughs. The guy is my oldest mate as soon as he comes on the screen. He's a once every 50 years kind of guy.
Joe Gilgan and Stephen Graham are possibly the UK's most talented actors..
Joe is a brilliant, versatile actor. Loved watching him in Emmerdale as Eli who was, I think. Martin's brother or a cousin. The best thing I've seen him is on Amazon Prime, Preacher as Cassidy the 1000 yrs old Vampire and a friend of Dominic Cooper's character Preacher. If you are into all things weird, wacky, bloodthirsty, sad and fun, give it a go. Absolute knockout it is.

This Is England is perhaps the greatest film and television serial ever made. The incredible actors that this entire cast matured into is just unbelievable.
In the past 3 weeks I've watched this is England 86,88 and 90 about 4 times each. And each time It doesn't fail to make me laugh and cry, so relatable the sadness and humour of life, I don't think you'll ever have mates as good as when you were there ages. Best drama ever without a doubt.

Shane meadows has mentioend a this is England '00 for years, even as recently as this year, and that he'd want to film it 10 years after '90. so still a good possibility we'll get it
It was lovely to see Lol could open up to Helen in that series and kept in touch afterwards with her.
In my opinion the saddest moment of the whole show was when Combo was about to be taken away and he said
“I forgive you” to Milky
That line fucking got me mate

Woody is the best character on the show and an example of how being a good person can sometimes ruin your life.

We all know someone like Woody - someone who breezes through life and doesnt realise how good they've got it.
A bloody good put together video, This is England has a special place in my heart. I felt attached to everyone in it and when I finished 90 it's never quite been full again.

I think Vicky McClure looks absolutely beautiful with the first hair style she had. It suited her more than her hair (long) before she had it cut off. Lol is such a strong woman and Vicky played her brilliantly ❤️❤️❤️ Totally obsessed with the film and all the series although ‘83 is my favourite out of all of them. Shaun is sweet, scrappy wee boy ❤️❤️❤️

No. Time cannot truly heal all wounds. That is a fallacy. There are some events in life that are oftentimes just too painful. Time puts distance between the events but, still cannot heal comprehensively.

The Actors, the Writers, and the whole way Shane Meadows has captured the Time Periods, just spot on. It really is a crying shame that more people don't appreciate this whole thing. I just finished This is England '88 and plan on watching the '90 mini-series this week. This is one Yank who did not even know about the 3 additional mini series and when I found out the other day I was very happy. Finding out about these while I heal from Knee Surgery is indeed a blessing! Thank You!

Absolutely love this edit of the Lol & Woody saga. The two scenes that brings me to tears damn near every time is when Woody & Milky meet up for the first time after Lol gives birth to Milky's kid. And when. Woody races to the hospital after her overdose/suicide attempt. Brilliant performances!!

What happened to Combo was a shame, he had turned his life back around and was truly sorry but it was all taken away from him. Moral of the story is two wrongs dont make a right.
Every time I watch that episode, I know what's coming at the end, but it still makes me sob my heart out when they take Combo 😭

This was me and my only ever true love of my life but I lost her and never got her back. We went through so much together. Been 20 years now and still miss her so much it hurts. Hoping lol and woody remind her of how we used to be. It's all gone now.
