It struck me watching the recent This is England series just how good an actor Joe is. Bearing in mind This is England has more than a good sprinkling of ad-lib, he really is phenomenal. His filmography makes for depressing reading... when will a British director give him the platform his talent deserves??? He needs the big screen.
I love Joe Gilgun and his dry wit. Such a character, but also a great actor! I'd love to be his mate, as he always makes me laugh. I actually used to live in Chorley, Lancashire (where Joe is from). Never saw him though, but my brother did see him a few years ago in Greggs (the bakers) in Chorley town centre. We need to see you on TV more, Joe! Nice one, Mate... \m/ (:o)
Great actor and a really good Movie. I really enjoyed 'woody' in the Movies . Joe comes across as a genuine and lovely person as well. Best of luck M8 ;)
It was a really incredible scene. It just went on and on, becoming more painful to watch. This Is England '88 was spectacular in my opinion, and I don't use that word lightly. Although '86 was fantastic, I found it an odd mixture of light and very dark. The humour was more complex - Woody slowly unravelling managed to be humorous and very sad. I think in a way '88 was darker than '86, although less brutal. That scene that goes completely silent as Lol feels Mick in the room was so disturbing.
i used to live next door to joe absolute top bloke funny and disorganised but 100% genuine down to earth nice guy no bullshit with him what you see is what you get totally unchanged with fame and celebrity just a really cool as fuck guy we could all learn something from him x
Gilgun certainly is a charismatic individual, I'm from the States and when I first saw the film I absolutely fell in love with his persona due to his qualities as a decent human being and a good friend from what I perceive. I know the actor does portray his faults as well but that's what makes him all the more charming and suck you into his character as he flourishes throughout the series. Cheers to Joseph, I'm a fan and it would be hard to deter me from staying one! I look forward to his works!
I discovered the series from a DVD that I borrowed from my local library. So bloody good, AND, I was introduced to Fionn Regan and his beautiful song ' Dogwood Blossom. ' from the first series. May never have found this music otherwise, and I'm very grateful.
Great interview , this is England is a great movie. Plus the TV series is just as great. With really good cast and it seems so real. Hearing as improvised makes sense.
I only heard of him from his character Cassidy from preacher. He did a good job in that show. So now i m here giving him his due credits. He is a good actor
Full credit had to go to him for that street fight scene with Milky. The way he was able to go from being happy to pure rage was brilliantly acted. Some try to be overly dramatic which ends up ruining the scene but he nailed it as did the other actors involved. First rate job.
The first time I saw the film 'This is England' I connected Woody to that kid he played on Coronation street. I never watch coronation street these days and havent watched it for years but I do remember him playin that kid Jamie. Would be funny to see a clip of that again but I dont think there are any around now.
@catcherinthesky1 I hate to say it, but I wasn't in the States when I saw the film and I did see '86 and '88 but I got them on DVD. I live in Mexico and work as an English teacher so most of my contact with the media is via the internet. :P Also I can't wait for '90 to come out, I'm so in love with the series that I even dream that I hang out with the characters xD Meggy was my bus driver in the last one.
i loved the shows, i thought woody was brilliant and Shane is a genius, but fuck the vicks, when woody said he was born in 84, well my daughter as born in 82 and died 5 and a half years ago..... i didnt need any vicks and i crying my eyesout - even off screen shane hits me right in the heart
legend! I painted a whole bus shelter black (found a roller and a shit load of black paint close by) The police turned up. They laughed and found it hilarious. they vanned me and let me go down the road.
Its funny I have this friend from New Orleans and he said that I had an Eastern Canadian accent. (Im from Ontario). But I dont sound like a Newfoundlander. Lol I prob do sound Canadian eh🇨🇦
I cant hear my accent. Ive been asked if Im from California by a Californian. I guess Canadians have distinctive accents, however Ontarians in my opinon have the least noticeable stereotypical accent.
@125or200px I was going to say Lancastrian but I was thinking that the accent changes where you travel... But, yeah, Lancastrian would be a good description.
who would agree that " This is England " Should be made into a soap for the 40 somethings !! ?? Just saw This is England 88 last nite ,,,, Just keeps getting better :-)
Just a small reminder that, if you are watching this and are heading to a dark place - drink some water, have a snack, breathe some fresh air and try to sleep.

Think he is in The infiltrator with Breaking Bads Walter White
He’s in some big films but since he’s been in Misfits, Preacher and his own show Brassic

I'd like to see him become the next Doctor on Doctor Who.
JeffTheDudeAbides Amazing! Very good idea, we'd love to see that too
+JeffTheDudeAbides damn it would be good
GoonaTV-GTA 5 videos and more! It would be brilliant either him or Danny John-Jules or both.
+JeffTheDudeAbides That my friend, is a shout
Dayym my friend. Your onto something there. He'd be f'in amazing. Couldn't be any different but ideal.
The fact that the fight scene was improvised is incredible. Genius.
That was such a strong scene never seen anything like it
@@jordanwillrog absolute genius wow
@@mrgreen9388 britishness
I could listen to his interviews all day. Seems like such a nice guy. Fantastic actor. We all need more Gilgun in our lives! ❤
I love his accent
100% Legend. One of the best Actors this country has got.

i want gilgun & tom hardy in a movie ...both are great actors...or gilgun in peaky blinders
He’d be brilliant in Peaky Blinders!
Great actor and a really good Movie. I really enjoyed 'woody' in the Movies .
Joe comes across as a genuine and lovely person as well. Best of luck M8 ;)
The fight between Milky and Woody in 88' is some of the best acting I've ever seen
Not ashamed to say that I bawled my eyes out during that scene and later on during the hospital scene. Fucking powerful stuff.
I love you so much Joe Gilgun! I hope you see this!! You're just a genius, talented, gorgeous, everything!!! love ya mate!!!
He is the funniest person alive. Why is he not more famous?
Fame is overrated- better to earn enough money and have real fans from quality products!
his Irish accent on Preacher is so convincing I was sure he was Irish!
Nah pure English my friend :D But good too see a fellow Preacher fan
Same lol
We in the UK grow up around paddy's and lots have Irish relatives so it's quite easy!

Top bloke met him outside a pub in london and had a good chat, cracking actor as well love This Is England peace :)

Proud to have the same accent as him!!
i m a huge fan of this guy , loved his work in lockout
Great interview , this is England is a great movie. Plus the TV series is just as great. With really good cast and it seems so real. Hearing as improvised makes sense.
Just binged the film and the whole series for probably the 10th time. Love them all, but I suppose 86 is my favorite.
I don't think there is enough interviews with Joe in! He's hilarious
his voice/accent is fucking amazing
He is totally relatable. Down to earth. Excellent at he's graft. Quality actor. The scene with the boss at the table at Xmas 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I only heard of him from his character Cassidy from preacher. He did a good job in that show. So now i m here giving him his due credits. He is a good actor
Please watch This Is England. The follow up movies and the series with final. Quality. You won't get over it ❤❤
cant wait for '90

He's a great actor and think he's very attractive...and the accent, oh god I love it.
Carolina Del Prete
You do realise he’s 6’5 and like only 70kg
@@lifegood3183 alr I bet your 5’8 and 90 kg
the burp tangent...what a legend.,
Great actor, brilliant! The fight scene between him and milky was outstanding! Top actor
i love this dude omfg i cant wait to see him in Pride.
Another great British actor
Woody is the best of This is England 1986 & 1988
he's such a fucking good actor and I love him

I never watch coronation street these days and havent watched it for years but I do remember him playin that kid Jamie. love this guy!!!
I love this man's accent
As a Texan I could listen to his accent all day.
imagine joe gilgan being the next doctor in doctor who. haha he would be soooo... good
Woody and the zimmer frame! Brassic is excellent too.
Ha ha-he's no different at all!! Its woody! Unbelievable actor-have to give him the no.1 credit for the roles in both 86 and ESPECIALLY in 88.
+SuperDimeslime333 him and vicky mcclure's character, lol
He wasnt bad in 90 or the movie either tbh.
@catcherinthesky1 I hate to say it, but I wasn't in the States when I saw the film and I did see '86 and '88 but I got them on DVD. Lol, Woody and Combo - my favorite characters ♥
Joe u r amazing! love ya :)
Shaun, Combo, Woody and Harvey are the best in my opinion.
he seems like a sweetheart :-)
Quality actor! Funny too, never forgotten 'whats with face ache' in the original film 🤣
Joe and TIE88 got a BAFTA nominee! well done!
great actor!!
Сейчас гляну ещё парочку интервьюшек с Джози и пойду-таки учить английский
He reminds me of a much nicer version of cook off skins
Combo is more of cook then woodie is I think
the guy who played cook was actually on This Is England....
llih aidyl No he wasn't.
Jack3T He is
Yeah he was, in the film. He played Pukey, didn't ave many lines tho
I feel like it might be the scene at the hospital when he flips because he thinks Lol is actually gone.
i loved the shows, i thought woody was brilliant and Shane is a genius, but fuck the vicks, when woody said he was born in 84, well my daughter as born in 82 and died 5 and a half years ago..... i didnt need any vicks and i crying my eyesout - even off screen shane hits me right in the heart
i've recently auditioned for a job........ wonder what that was...........
"If anyone's out there and they're listening, I'm on the telly and I'm single." GOSH!
He's actually quite similar to he's character
mirror man just not though Is he
He's perfect..
great ,,,well done joe ,,!!!
Wonder if Joe has ever heard the song “I’da Called You Woody, Joe”. I would definitely call him Woody if I saw him.
fucking love this man he is absolutely epic great person great actor and i love woody so love him love you joe mannn love you woods
legend! I painted a whole bus shelter black (found a roller and a shit load of black paint close by)
The police turned up. They laughed and found it hilarious. they vanned me and let me go down the road.
I would love to have a strong regional accent like this!!!!
This is England 90 has been delayed because Shane meadows is focusing on his stone roses documentary or summat
His accent is Chorlian, since he's from Chorley, Lancashire. Same place as me haha.
Pj harwood i live in preston witch is next to chorley
Kai Tucker I love in Czech republic which is nowhere arround Chorley.
funny
Its funny I have this friend from New Orleans and he said that I had an Eastern Canadian accent. (Im from Ontario). But I dont sound like a Newfoundlander. Lol I prob do sound Canadian eh🇨🇦

He is an amazing british actor, Brassic is brilliant🙂
woody is my fav :p
He always says he won't go into details then he goes into details lol
Yeah there will. I heard it will be based around the rave scene as it was at its peak around then.
🙏🙏🙏
Top Top bloke...
He's amazing in misfits
such a great scene that
the "LOL" tattoo is real O.O
It must be the one where he met Milky in the street. The stomach pumping can't have been "a one take wonder", and Woody wasn't involved part of that.
@125or200px I was going to say Lancastrian but I was thinking that the accent changes where you travel... But, yeah, Lancastrian would be a good description.
@rareflorence I thought it was the one where he meets Milky?
Up north mate yeah, thats where its at pal. Born and bread there, beautiful.
holy shit his tattoos for his character are real.
who would agree that " This is England " Should be made into a soap for the 40 somethings !! ??
Just saw This is England 88 last nite ,,,, Just keeps getting better :-)
Classic woody line: I WERE FUCKING LYIN!!!!!
He started his career in 1994.
yeah it is, he has it in misfits aswell, all of his tattoos on misfits and this is england is real :)
Even the Swazi?
DENIAL IS NOT JUST A RIVER IN EGYPT????? I love english sayings omg this is so funny
@georgykicksass He is from my town, Chorley. I guess his accent would be described as Northern.
one of my fav actors over night
does anyone know if will be a "this is england '90"?? Thanks.
what is woody's accent name ? is there any spesific name of it ? would love to learn it...
yes it's a chorley accent, i live there.
look carefully and he's actually got a LOL tattoo on his hand. commitment or what
Oh wow he actually has a Lol tattoo
and the little cross
Dedication to the role much. 😂😂😂
What scene is he talking about around 13:10 ?
Just a small reminder that, if you are watching this and are heading to a dark place - drink some water, have a snack, breathe some fresh air and try to sleep.
@SpringHeeledJack114 I think he's talking about the scene where vicky gets her stomach pumped. that one was horrifying and looked absolutely real
The Smiths. Bangin' INDEED.
I watched Vicky’s interview just before this and she definitely didn’t say that lol
Yes it is!!
he still has the lol tattoo on his hand, is this like between filming or something
nope, it's a real tattoo
It’s a real tattoo but this was filmed between 88 and 90
nope his tattoos get a mention in Misfits when his older half turned up.
Top actor top guy........WOODY
What's the one take wounded scene he's on about
Liverpoolfcfever When he meets milky and the gang outside the café
+Jack Brandt Yep.
which scene is he talking about?
I wonder which scene he's talking about that he can't actually talk about?
