If they could award Oscars or Baftas for specific scenes, that dinner table scene alone would sweep the board. The acting and writing are second to none
I heard that it's barely even scripted, that they improvised most of it. Same with the fight scene in '88. I could be wrong though, but if i'm not that makes it even more brilliant.
@Earl Turner I would argue that makes it feel all the more real. When is the last time you got into a heated argument and stated your case perfectly? When people get emotionally charged, they forget things, they leave out details, they don't explain things as well as they could have if they weren't upset. Most of the arguments I've ever had have resulted in me smacking myself on the head afterwards and wishing I'd mentioned this or that detail, which would have made things so much clearer to the person I was arguing with. Welcome to being human. Whether that detail was left out intentionally or not is irrelevant; if the intention was to give us, the audience, the uncomfortable feeling of listening in on a real argument between people who have a long history with each other, mission accomplished.

Quite simply the greatest piece of British drama ever! The acting in this is amazing. I really bought into these characters. Best I’ve ever seen on British TV❤️

I remember watching this whole series at the time. It was absolutely amazing. Shaun meadows has always been one of the greatest film makers. This series was just perfect for the time and so well acted. 👍🏻
They should do long series of this like shameless but change the title. It isn't about racism - it's Lol's anthology. But the kitchen sink drama is very good. This and out street is all I've seen of this quality on British TV for the past 20 years.
Like others have said, the near 20 minutes at the dinner table was one of the most pulsating and superbly acted scenes I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t look away from it. That’s drama at its best. Kudos all round
Milkys performance at the dinner table made me physically feel his hate and anger, shane if your out there and read this, you are the master at making these gritty real life british dramas, powerful, really well written, impactful, perfectly preformed by all the cast, a tour de force
