- What's Christmas without a review of the Zaku II FZ? Bandai brings us this kit via the High Grade Universal Century line in 1/144 scale and though from a few years ago, some extra care was put in to make sure the Bernie's Zaku is one we'll want to have, so come celebrate Christmas with a look at the iconic grunt suit that's made many a grown man cry.

Engineer: I can improve all stats and make it easier to build but the cockpit has to be a bright red.

Super well designed kit, it's dead simple to paint in the extra red since they're all sunken in and the articulation does the job decent enough. A little red gundam marker really brings out the detail and makes the kit punch well above its weight for a cheaper old kit. Only issue with mine is a seam across the top of the chest

bought this thing on a lark as my first kit. he is a funny dude vibing on my shelf. have never watched an episode of gundamn but i just think the zakus look cool so I wanted one.
The obvious jokes aside, the Zaku 2 Kai holds up quite well even today, with articulation and things like the head sensor holding it back (as per the review).
Now if only the HG Alex gets a revive. (And, Tristan too, the poor thing needs somewhat of a redemption lol)

It really is a lovely kit that is still enjoyable today. I love the colors to no end
And yes, the Alex needs an update, or at least an upgrade to 1.5. An RG wouldn't be half bad either

Perfect timing clubhouse and great review as usual! This kit actually has some really really nice colour seperation and its also easy to paint

Merry HGUC Christmas! this is a true gift, you managed to go through all the seamlines ( next up, nubmarks /jk ).
I'm a grown man, but I swear I didn't cry, although I never would have bothered to pick this kit up, if not for the backstory. With it's avocado theme, and curry pipes. The build was a hidden gem despite being the most barebone zaku, probably next only to the 80s kits -
Pretty glad I managed to snag it at exactly box listed price just before pandemic (and the new pricing math - directly proportional to Bandai's new interpretation of 1/144 scale).
I am always looking forward to more of these old kit reviews - regardless of whether I have or not have, or have a small private army of them.
You're made of much stronger stuff than me. I sob even having watched it so many times...
But man is this kit charming. If you pose it it kind of gives away its age a bit, but it's a cut above its peers from the same time.
I think if I don't go back to actual Gundam models soon, there'll be a pitchfork mob before long:)

This kit was as lovely as ever and actually made me consider buying this kit cause build really does seem quite nice and the articulation won't bother me as I've realized when I was playing around with my Zaku II FS so I'll definitely be looking out for the kit in the future aswell as the NT-1
Merry Christmas! You really can feel that the designers loved this kit when you have it in your hand and see the color separation, especially when you see the norm from 2008 really aren't as excellent

Fun fact it’s machine gun is out of scale I swapped mine out with the Rick dom II it’s machine gun is the exact same model but IN SCALE

I've been looking for this and the HG Kampfer, I have no idea where and how to find them.
The one I have here I picked up maybe around November last year, so Bandai hasn't reprinted them recently
The Kampfer they did reprint a few months back, but they got picked clean immediately where I am

I really wanna modify the original alex to modernize it with modern joints

It really is particularly good among the 0080 kits. It's not just the Alex that has gotten quite old
at least the zaku got shoulder movements. the Alex just comes with dead pegs, which inevitably among what makes the tristan so awful
