The deactivated heat hawk looks almost on point to metal that has been heated and is developing scale, so it looks more realistic that way. As they say, papa: “there are no accidents, just happy mistakes. And people die.”
Looking closer at it you have a point.
I like how in every video Gundam is fending for his life, fighting some sort of pet attack by his dog or cat :)))

Looks like a pretty sturdy kit with it being more simple, aside from the brittle plastic. The painting on the heat hawk looked good, even the metallic being a bit dinged up.

The Geara Doga style helmet is on one of the Zaku when they battle the gms on the colony in 0080 WITP. It’s almost a blink and you’ll miss it moment, but is there .
The platoon leader who retrieves Bernie has one.
I just want an MG Hy-Gogg or an MG Z'gok E. those suits were amazing. We still need a Kampfer 2.0 as that thing was from the era where we still use screws.
You should start saving mistake clips for a retrospective at end of year. The imperfections are what make them all perfect.

Gundam, you seem to dwell on the flaws in your paint jobs when if you didn't mention it few would notice. Don't forget the teachings of the great Bob Ross, besides your lighting/filming skills make up for any flaws in the paint jobs.
Love this kit. One of the best ever. But broke the thigh hinge. And the left forearm. Cheapest plastic and weirdest joint system of any of the kits I've built on the planet Earth. Ooh la la!

The way the metallic heat hawk looked I think actually looks cool, kinda looks like it has some battle damage on it from blocking bullets or something to that effect.

I need this kit in my life. I only have 1 RE/100 kit and that's the RX-78 GP-04. It fits in perfectly with my master grade GP series Gundams. So I have no doubt this Zaku would fit perfectly with my other Zeon suits.
Hell yeah, grunt suit! Personally I think the heathawks look awesome, even the whole paint job looks cool. Sucks you broke some parts, but hell we all do at some point, I got a busted up gi joe I use for painting practice after I got too excited with my hobby knife. But if you still got those broken bits and want to do some diorama stuff, you got battle field debris now! If you're worrying about size due to your living space, I'd say go for a smaller locale like say some badlands or something. If you keep it simple and not put too much on it you can use it as a display piece for your Gunpla and swap out the models when you get bored. And if you're worrying about broken bits that can be salvaged, there is a certain type of super glue that eats plastic, toss in some sprue bits or plastic shavings, mix it up as it melts down and you got the modeling equivalent to gap filler. I can't remember the exact brand of glue needed but I believe there are tutorials on youtube, mainly in the mini painting community. Welp, enough rambling from me.

Was disappointed that this was re 100 but atleast they made this thing essentially a retro MG from the late 90s and early 2000s in articulation, something they should of done with the earlier ones, especially the Hamma Hamma. Also forgre the Zaku 3.0, I want the MG Origins Zaku to happen.
I m fan of the ova , my first proper Gundam series. The FZ was the most advanced mass production Zaku in the lore upto that time.

I like seeing crisp "fresh" paint for once. All this weathering gets a little old. You know, most larger military vehicles have on-board air compressors. You get a little R&R and out comes the hose and gun to clean up the lines...unless you're in space I guess. Thats some funny ass images flashing to mind right there lol.
Unfortunately they only gave you 3 colors, traditionally, and really, when my time came they gave most of us just one color. I wasn't 3 color special I guess. I'ts really tough to be an artist with just one color. The sexiest camo of all time has to be late Vietnam era Tiger Stripe. Zaku's seem like they'd be perfect in a 45 degree Tiger Stripe pattern!

@@ItsAGunpla Yes it is. Ive seen some Tiger Stripe Camo stencils floating around but the edge of ragged ripped paper works about as good. Move all the paper in the same direction and shoot black brown green with like a sliver of dirty white here and there.
Sadly this is what we get for a 1/100 Zaku FZ which they used the old Zaku FZ box art for proportions. Robot Damashii nailed the anime sculpt and is the best Zaku FZ next to the HG.

I appreciate the amount of bulk they seemed to retain in this version. In the last few years Bandai and katoki in particular tends to slim out their suits from the line art, which I’m not The biggest fan of. Gives good articulation Shute, but you don’t get the sense of heft ya know? Reminding you that they are 18 meter walking tanks.

Gundam intrested to know what colors you use on this kit
Shine red for the red parts, then light red, to a pinikish red.
The green parts are all custom colors.
flat black into tire black hard to pickup on
Bluish gray joins were the same mix I used to match the recommended colors.
9 times out of times out of 10 it's all me winging the colors.
Poppa G ...why complain about the metallic on the heathawk? I prefer the (damaged) worn look, a thermal weapon can only be showroom quality once, and NEVER on a battlefield. Thanks
I tend to test ideas on kits rather than spoons it bites me in the ass sometimes.
Man Newtype needs to broaden their search engine so it isn't so exact. I wanted to order this kit from them because I love how fast their shipping is, but when I searched it re/100 zaku II kai it didn't bring anything up so I ordered it from USAGundam instead. Why in the world is it under FZ instead of KAI lol.
I tend to just type in a keyword like Zaku then go through the pages.

That opening remark about how the Japanese like the heartbreaking romance stories, is why I end up disliking most anime. being a hopeless romantic when love interests die in BS ways just kills me !! I just finished Iron Blooded Orphans and was hating it until the end, the end redeemed it for me a little. The action in the show is fantastic, just hate how no-one can just say how they feel in anime. it's very heartbreaking for my personality type. Beautiful paint job on that Zaku Gundam !!

Bernies death was all due to the annoyance of a little kid wanting to make his life exciting and ill be honest the only thing i liked in 0080 was the mobile suits... i couldnt stand the little kid which ruined the story for me
