    I switched from Yamalube to Rotella T4 15w40 for the same bike. Noticed smoother gear shifts... And a cheaper price! Lol 😂

      I've heard of people using Rotella. I might have to check it out. Thanks.

    I get the K & N 147 filter. It has a 17mm nut for extremely easy removal. Definitely a big plus in my book. How many miles do you have. I have a 2007 with just under 10,000. I am very happy with it. Had a 1997 yamaha yzf1000 before. That was my first crotch rocket. Lots of fun.

      I'll have to get that filter for my next oil change. I've got over 30k on my 2007. I'm pretty happy with mine also. I had a 2012 Ninja 650 for a short period of time. It was a nice bike also. The yzf1000 sounds like a blast.

      The K&N oil filters with a nut welded on them have had issues. Search TH-cam for videos of the issue.

    Thanks for the instruction!
    Btw, maybe just how it looks on a small screen on TH-cam, but did not the oil coming from the old filter look suspiciously clean compared to what came out of the bottom?

      You're welcome! Thank you for watching! I didn't notice the difference in the oil in the filter and what came out of the engine. I'm going to take another look at it. Stay safe.

    I have a 2009 V Star 1300 and have been using 20w 50. I dont have the manual but I have heard both 20w 50 and 10w 40 being used. Not the most mechanically inclined....whats your thoughts?

    • @wonkster1970
      @wonkster1970  ปีที่แล้ว

      Owner's manual states 20w40. I run 10w40. 20w50 should be okay.

    Why the motorcycle lift ?

    • @wonkster1970
      @wonkster1970  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's better than laying in the ground. It can be done without the lift. Thanks for watching.

    • @jamesweber4938
      @jamesweber4938 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bike sits low to the ground. Its hard to see what you are doing without a lift. You also need the bike level to check the oil level properly.
