- Striper fishing in the BEST SPOT I know for WORLD CLASS FISH. We have been fishing this bay for over 15 years. Although we have been very fortunate to catch countless fish over 40 pounds and DOZENS over 50 pounds, the 60 pound fish have successfully eluded is. Today my youngest Son was the first to put a 60 pound class fish on the deck of the Sea Pro! Chesapeake Bay.

Fishing for stripe bass is a lot of fun. We have many giants like that in the Hudson River where I’m from. Unfortunately I couldn’t fish for Stripers this year because of Covid-19. Many fisherman that were laid off from their day jobs, were buying all the bloodworms, Shad and Herring in the area to go fishing every day. Every time a shipment of bait will come in. It will sell out in minutes. Next year I will try to catch my own Shad for bait. Shad works great for stripers but over here, they go crazy for Bloodworms and Herring.

You were the true winner that day, huh??? I started out by watching your "Sonar for Dummies" series, thank you so much for putting it out simple. I've used sonar for years, I figured it out eventually. I use them as depth finders and to interpret the bottom make-up, for Chesapeake Blue Crabs. But I fish quite a bit also, I still learned a great deal, even though I "knew" all I needed to know!!! Just proof positive that even when you think you got it all down, leave some room what you learn each day!!! Thanks again, you've got a subscriber for sure!!!

lactic acids build up in there tail. working the tail while moving the fish forwards like you were doing when trolling with her will help speed the recovery time quite a bit.

Thanks brother!! It’s a GoPro 7 with a Karma Grip gimbal. They finally got the audio working good with the grip. I was using the go pro 5 but the sound stunk. It’s pretty good now with the 7. Nice smooth movements.

So is the 82 lb fish ive heard about "from no were legit i might add" real or bull. Im leading toward the latter but not real sure.
All Tree Solutions There was an 81lb Striper caught by Greg Myerson. It was a legit All Tackle World Record. It still stands today.
There is a picture of another fish floating around that says it’s an 88lb potential new world record. THAT one is a mistake. I’m actually friends with the guy in the picture. The fish was around 50lbs but DID look a lot bigger in the picture. Jay is not a very big person and he did a nice job of holding the fish out away from his body so the fish appeared to be much larger than 50. That photo makes the rounds on Facebook every few months.

There is a new slot limit now, but we very rarely keep fish this large anyway. These big breeders produce massive amounts of eggs.

MrLocz209 , it’s rare now , but possible to get 30 pounders if you fish right time , right place . Suisun Bay , Grizzly island areas hold big stripers lateOct to March . Fish shallow at night in the fall , 3 to 6 ft deep. Then deep water ( 20 ft plus) once water gets below 55 degrees .Use big live baits . Ahhh for the1960’s and ‘70’s one more time !

When the subs enter or leave the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, there are tons of chase boats with mounted machine guns zooming around. They don't want you get close at all.

THATS RIGHT!! The bigger guy is my youngest Son, and the smaller guy is his best friend. They were home from ECU on break so we snuck out for a few days before they had to go back to work. My oldest is at NC State and couldn’t get away. As you can imagine they grew up fishing a lot and my youngest son here is COMPLETELY ATE UP!! He has salt in his veins. I’m so glad he was the one to catch this beauty. He can operate my electronics like a BEAST!! 😛😛😛

I've never caught a striper yet. I fish on shore and maybe that's why. I don't fish all the time. Matter of fact I haven't been fishing in years cause I'm sick of not catching anything. I hope I can catch one one day. I'm from Massachusetts and I must be the only guy who's fished for stripers and haven't caught one yet.

"Best spot for world class fish"? Last I knew the world record rod and reel striper was caught off Westbrook, CT! 80+ pounds.
Sure. Some great fishing there, but 70-90% of the migratory Striped Bass on the East coast were spawned in the Chesapeake Bay. That 81lb fish was VERY LIKELY a Chesapeake born fish that was in CT for a short period during the migration. That’s the beauty of the Striped Bass, you can catch a monster nearly anywhere on the East Coast 👍👍

When I was a kid, my father would go fishing a week at a time. He would come home with Cod, haddock, blue fish, and stripers in two 55-gallon drums filled to the top (we never saw anything small. He only kept the large fish).This is still one of my favorite videos. 🎣

I do fresh water Striper fishing, but our Stripers are land locked and over populated so 70% only grow to about 1.5lbs... catching a sea monster is in my dreams. Check me out on my page brothers.
