idk if it’s because i was raised here or this is my go to thing besides hunting but i absolutely love days like this. nothing better than stripers in Md
i love the jigging world, "lil doc," with the red eye. comes in at around 3.2 oz if i remember correctly and i have it rigged with my heaviest splits and 4/0 hooks. they're not small plugs and they don't cast well. great for targeting big to giant fish from a boat but i was shocked at how well it gets follows and even hits from schoolies. as long as there is a topwater bite and you can cast to your targets the doc should be in your bag, especially on a boat. nothing gets a long follow like a spook. it's like the fish get hypnotized. the doc handles bigger water better than most spooks. i will say that i've run into early mornings where they won't hit anything with a rattle and i have a lot more success on thru wired wooden spooks. lots of guys are starting to make them. jigsmith etc. 1.5-2.5ish oz and they cast a lot better than the doc, probably because they are so much smaller by volume. really great plug to have in your surf bag to work a little closer to shore when they won't hit a pencil.
That torpedo is one of my favorite all-time lures I bring it every single time I hit the water it absolutely gets destroyed by every single species you could possibly imagine Stryper sure snook redfish Jack shark sea trout even freshwater fish like musky even snapper hit it every kind of fish in the world will absolutely attacked that thing and they are extremely durable unlike wooden lures of summer design I use the bone color you are using or I use a heddon red and white
Striped bass can be caught consistently in the northeast in the spring, summer, and fall but generally further south the run starts earlier in the spring and as the waters warm more fish push further north all the way up to New England and even Canada. Then as the waters cool a lot of fish start to migrate back south. Some fish will holdover in tidal rivers for the winter. But most fish migrate south off Virginia and the Carolinas. I’ve caught nice striped bass in 2ft of water and I’ve caught them in 100ft of water. It doesn’t really matter how far from shore it is. But food should be available and they like good current, and a preferred water temperature. Where I filmed this video we are about 3 miles out in the bay in only about 10ft of water. Water temp was about 50 degrees fahrenheit. This video was filmed in the Spring when these fish first migrate in off the ocean. Therefore the water is slightly warmer, and there is generally a lot of forage like Bunker for them to eat to fatten up before they push up the rivers to spawn.
I noticed that the date on top of the video said 5/22. Then obviously it wasn't from your northbound trip? Still good, but just curious where it was from is all. Cool video. I just picked up my fishing license for freshwater because if I'm going to catch anything salt water I'm probably going to pay to get on a pier. I did however get a saltwater surf for free written on my license. I just didn't think I was going to be able to do that kind of fishing until maybe a year or so from now cuz of the operations I had. Thanks for doing what you do, "LIVE TO FISH FISH TO LIVE" GOD BLESS!
Hey Dana, it actually says 05/25 so it was filmed after my last surf fishing day and video. Glad you got your licenses. Hopefully you can get out there when the time is right!! Tight Lines!
@@FishAholicTV (Praise God!)Thanks bro, you know it! You're like the only TH-camr that treats me like a real person talking to me, I feel honored. I feel like a true celebrity is taking his time out to talk to me. I really appreciate it, and that's very nice of you. Only sad to say that I'm in Northern Florida, not much here but Bass only, but whatever, I just need to feel the fishing rod get hit, heck I wouldn't even care if it was a large shiner, that would be fun in itself as well. Thanks again Rich! God bless!
@@FishAholicTV not a big deal bro, when I said 5/22, I meant May of 2022. Not May 22nd. I didn't know what day it was on for sure that's why I just said the month and the year. Sorry.
Always reel your lure higher up, a foot or less and you will cast farther and more accurate. I always tie FG knot and then use a snap swivel on the lure so I don't have to worry about a swivel.
What happened Rich? You've caught so many fish over the years your wrists are bothering u? Lol! Been slamming up the north shore of Mass. Anytime ur around ur always invited on my boat or tow the rig up and I'd be happy to show u some hot spots
I can not find for the life of me a video that properly talks about fishing this thing from the surf(9 inch doc 3.5oz musky mania) and what rod class for the surf to use with lures of this size. I am looking to get the tsunami trophy 11ft heavy 2-6 oz rod to pair with a tsunami shield 6000 with 40lb braid and possibly 80lb leader maybe 60lb for a little more action. Any thoughts would help please and those two(rod and reel is what I can afford at the moment). Which is why I ask. I've got the 10ft mh 1-5oz and the 5000 in the same rod and reel brand as described before and don't want to throw that doc on the slightly lighter rod in worry it may snap the tip.
Awesome video as always man! Boy do I wanna go striper Fishing soon! Phew 😮💨 God bless you all everyone! Jesus loves you! Repent and Believe in Him! He is the Only way to heaven and loves you!! John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. God bless you all! 💙
Hey Rich, I watch every video, and I love the channel. You have definitely taught me quite a bit about fishing. My only piece of constructive criticism would be to pay attention to how much you say “uh”. It makes you sound so much less confident, and you know your shit when it comes to fishing!
Think of where the oceans feeds a bay. The furthest back of the bay where maybe it feeds rivers and what so. Pretty much furthest part of the bay from the ocean
Yeah like Curtis stated. The furthest away from the ocean. Where it is mostly saltwater still but lots of rain can cause a more brackish mix. But the back bay is great in the Spring because the water is slightly warmer there and that’s where a lot of bait likes to hang out for the Stripers to eat.
Mmm I would say your 100% wrong. If we were gill netting maybe that would be more accurate. But ok sure👌🏻you can believe that. It is very hard to see what’s going on behind the screen. Also I’ve caught 1000s and 1000s and 1000s and 1,000 of striped bass that size. That just happens when you grow up fishing Montauk and eventually work on a boat out there for many many many years. Say 200 to 250 trips a season. Therefore you end up handling a lot of striped bass like the size in this video. Probably 10 to 20 a trip and a toss into the water doesn’t hurt them. That fish that wiggled in the video didn’t hit the boat and if it did hit the boat well then that’s not good. But I pushed it out and away before that happened. I religiously care about striped bass more than I care about any other fish species. Watch any of my past videos. But it is fishing and some spoils that come along with it. I can’t control what happens after I release them. If it was a much bigger cow Striped Bass then I would give that fish a more delicate release like in this video th-cam.com/video/FlkZoToaXVY/w-d-xo.html Anyway tight lines thanks for the positivity hope you’re catching some fish this Spring 🤙🏻
You should get a contest going. Winner gets an all expense paid trip to fish with you and/or your buddies.
God I can’t wait to have this life. Is all I tell myself working so hard for my future so I can do things I love!!
So happy to see the striped bass content back! 🤙
Definitely back in Jersey with those gangster names. Lol. Bad ass boat and some bad ass fishing!
Haha yeah for sure 🤙🏻fishing was awesome

Was fishing earlier today in Maine, I hooked a few schoolies 23 24 inches, they seem to be stronger this year 😆 they were fighting hard for its size.
Nice job Rich!!
Good morning from Philippines. I always enjoy your videos. Keep safe and God bless always 🙏👍🐟⛵❤

Let’s fish sometime when you’re back in Florida, my cousins from New York he’d love to go. We catch snook at the local spillways

Nice video, I'm fairly new into fishing and my question is what size of the shad and the jig head weight do you recommend me to buy?
Do you have a injury? The way u move the rod indicates something’s up. Hope your good

I would like to know what rod and reel your buddy Steve is using
That it that the one.
Awesome topwater bite! Where can I get some of those big bone 9" spooks?
They are called “the doc”
Actually it's called a Bone Rattler! The Doc which has a couple of versions earned its keep in R.I. but is smaller than The Bone Rattler

Did anyone try the Ben Parker bunker spoons?

What power rod r u using?

What Inlet are you guys fishing out of ?
New sub ! Liked 👍👍🙏😀
Compared to European Bass those small fish are BIG.
Ours average 2 to 7 pound, those bigger than 7 lbs are specimen fish around the UK.
I like going fishing
What was the white lure called
Where do you get your seat covers?
what’s your reel setup?
Is this in the south shore of li

You use the term "Back Bay" in your videos a lot. What is a Back Bay? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I've never heard this term.
Think of where the oceans feeds a bay. The furthest back of the bay where maybe it feeds rivers and what so. Pretty much furthest part of the bay from the ocean
@@curtisg.8671 Makes sense. Maybe it's more of an East Coast term, I dunno.
@@nathanrodriguez780 yeah definitely an east coast term specifically north east

In this case it is the western end of Raritan Bay. Launched from Matawan Creek in Middlesex County, NJ.
