What i really appreciate about these guys and their content is it's str8 up info for fishing no tournament bs or drama just great info and i really appreciate it I've learned to fish from youtube and alot of it comes from these guys.
I love how Matt simply decides to go out and catch stripers aaaaand, catches stripers! I catch stripers in the surf out here in So Cal and they are an absolute blast to catch! TB, the pinnacle of fishing information 🎣
@@I.like.fishing.60 Ya, caught some nice legal halibut a few weeks ago… unfortunately, over the past 3 weeks the seaweed has been thick in close and big shore pound keeping the fish out deeper! I caught a 12-15lb striper last spring on my perch set up… 9’Daiwa Saltist, Shimano 2500 spoiled with 8lb test! Took a minute to land it on 8lb but once again, Izorlune XXX copolymer saved the day 🏄🏼♂️ 🎣🤙🏻
The biggest fish I've caught this year so far is a 3.5lb largemouth and a 2.5lb smallmouth. I couldn't even imagine fighting a 12lb striper. That's a whole new ball game! Thanks for another great one Matt!
Day-um!!! Yes, E. TN and its lakes and rivers are absolutely awesome for BIG stripe. Great video! So, need a few days to let those shredded thumbs from lippin' those dudes to heal up, I bet. Had a few trips like that myself.
Your channel will be the gold standard for many more years to come. Incredible fisherman, teachers, snd humans.Btw, hope TW writes you guys monthly checks cause your breakdowns of baits and gear has sold them miliions more over the years
Ive been waiting for this for so long! Being from MD and now living in NY, striper fishing is in my blood. Im so stoked Im moving to TN and theyre there. Awesome video man!
This is very interesting. The similarities of fishing for striper in fresh water and salt water species are almost identical. Most guides get up insanely early to catch bait , but if you do a little map research and put yourself in the areas where fish live you can find them and catch them on artificals. This goes for salt and fresh, just ask the boys at Salt strong. One of the best vlogs ive ever seen is watching Matt and Tim catching monster catfish on spoons in the worst conditions. Peeling drag is a beautiful sound.
Thank you for all your great content!!!, I live in Connecticut and used many of the soft plastics you noted for stripers in both back bay and open beaches, but truth be told I didn't think the A-rig could handle stripers over 20 lb. Thanks for the education.
First year with a boat and im still having a hard time finding the off shore fish on the lake. You guys have been a big help getting me dialed in on reading graphs and finding the fish.
You guys really have to come to New England and Connecticut for some killer striper fishing. You catch it at the right time of the year and you will catch some giant and I mean giant striped bass. There’s even killer smallmouth fishing I on Cape Cod believe it or not.
Hey Matt, buddy!👋🏻 I got to spend about two hours at my favorite big pond next to my courthouse at lunchtime. I hooked and landed 9 LARGEMOUTH! Nothing huge, but three were decent enough keepers to photograph. I guess it was my best outing of the year; 2024 has been a GRIND.
I'm just glad you took us along ! Hey Matt, yall remember that 1TB footage of those BIG ole peacock bass or whatever those huge fish were.. I believe you talked about it in a swimbait seminar video it was like a trip in Brazil using the gantarel or a vitalion. That project ever coming out?
Man you crushed them. I haven’t got into strippers since I was young with my dad. I’ll never forget catching a monster on my spinning rod and feeling the power those fish have. Super cool video man!
Thanks for doing these videos. I have learned alot. Got an slx xt along with the slx 7' med heavy due to your guys reviews. Had my best day Saturday in forever. Got several largies and my first muskie! Just fishing a weightless texas rig senko.
Matt, loved watching you smoke those stripers. Reminds me of the 80's on the Arkansas River. We never could catch but 3 or 4 out of a wolfpack before they would wise up and shut down. Then we'd go looking for another pack. Seems they run in packs . Anyway, lots of fun. Thanks Matt.
Great video! Maybe sometime you could create a video explaining how you target a certain species on a multi-species body of water. Today you were using lures that are effective for largemouth bass yet the majority of fish you caught were stripers. Is it just a matter of choosing different types of locations or is it more complicated than that? thanks.
If you want to get into some big saltwater stripers and spotted bass, make the trip down to Smith Lake in Cullman, AL. It would be about a 2 hour drive from you.
I grew up on LI in the surf casting plugs for strippers and blues. You could go a couple of hours with nothing to one or two then you would see the birds working down the beach heading towards you and you knew the blitz was coming then it would be twenty to thirty minutes of one after another. So much fun!
Can you make a video walking us thru your boat and some things you do to maintain it. Like I’m curious what type of water spot sprays you use and other cool things you do to take care of your skeeter!
We actually just did a boat maintenance video about 6 weeks ago. We didn't cover water spots specifically but we covered a lot of other things that are necessary.
You guys really have to come to New England and Connecticut for some killer striper fishing. You catch it at the right time of the year and you will catch some giant and I mean giant striped bass
Bought some of those Zman jig heads after the swimbait seminar to target Stripers..Matt wasn't kidding, those hooks even on the 3/8 head are bulletproof.
I always love the predator vids and the jet boat/kayak videos. A 15-16 foot tunnel hull jet is on my very short list. I need to get to some spots quicker. Have you guys lucked into any large flatheads yet?
I always trim the nose down on my swim baits to match the jig heads. Why did you have to tell em that, Matt? hehe. How about this one; Ever try a Double Dragon loop knot?
Would love if you guys would do some charting in these longer videos. Even if it’s not much. Just a couple of minutes talking about where your graphing on the map, boat positioning etc. Gotta have a little bit of criticism lol
Y'all need to come down here to Lewis Smith lake and get on some real big boys lol... U think u can coax a 50+ to pop a artificial in 60+' of water??? There's some giant herring eaters in here for sure and I'd love to see y'all were them OUT !
I’ll be honest. I have all but quit bass fishing my lake once I learned to stay on the striper. It’s just a new game. Spoons and striper make my heart beat.
Id really like to see you guys do this on live. Bloopers, misses, hang ups..ect. Did have a question that's been lurking around for awhile...how much $$ in tackle do you lose in a year? Caught a cat on a damiki blade hopping bottom yesterday.
they also do really well up north. the hoa stocked some in my old neighborhood along with threadfin and gizzard shad, and theye insanely aggressive. they were chasing bait balls and hitting sub surface in 38 degree water during the winter last year.

Very true! No-nonsense true tactics that really work.

Well done matt thanks for sharing
Love the multi species videos. Bending rods on stripers is always fun

That's a great question! It's almost entirely location. If you know where they are, retrieve speed and color are the other big factors.

Insane day on the water! Got any tips for trying to do this from a Kayak?
how do u land such big fish in under 60 seconds? What kind of line do u have? I would have fought that striper good 30 minutes
It depends on the bait, the details of each combo are in the video description 👍🏼
More striper content please!!!!
👍🏼 We'll see what we can do.
@tacticalbassin thank you! And thanks for all the content you guys been bringing to us it's been very helpful 👍
Yall need to try out Melton Hill Lake(Clinch River
Looks like a larger net than the one you guys normally have tagged as your favorite. Larger Frabill?
Yes, it's a much larger version I picked up just for this style of fishing.
I think people would be surprised what spinning rods can handle! Lots of people use spinning gear for saltwater inshore and even offshore fishing!
They take a beating, for sure!

They hold up pretty well, especially considering how soft they are.
Anyone know what average leader length these guys uses?

I know you try to pull it down most of the time. Good fun vid.
