Great product, got my airfryer xl today in the mail and I've already experimented with a few nice recipes..How fun is that! Just wondering if you can use the airfryer without the basket, so that I could fit a larger round pan in there.In that case, do I need to place something in between the star-shaped bottom and the pan?
Hello Barbara, thank you for your comment. Congrats on your new AirFryer, how exciting! To answer your question; you can't remove the basket and use a different round pan in there, as it is not recommended. We hope this clears things up!
Don't fuck around Barbara, if you remove the basket you have no handle to push in or remove the drip tray.

Hi, Just bought HD9279/21 Essential digital XL Airfryer, and struggling to work out how to use and what is needed for different food types. No manual included and no information on suggested serving sizes; temperature; cooking times. Hi i have recently bought this air fryer and i want to know if we have to spray the basket with oil before cooking or is it not needed
Thanks for your question, Fatima. It will depend on the recipe, but our Philips Airfryer is the only Airfryer with unique Rapid Air technology to fry your favorite foods with little or no added oil and up to 90% less fat.
Note: Do not fill the pan with oil as this may cause a fire hazard.

Do I need to spray oil in the basket before use?
Hi, thanks for your interest! Using oil in your Airfryer is not always necessary, however; adding oil is only necessary when you prepare homemade dishes from fresh ingredients that have not been pre-treated, such as freshly peeled potatoes or chicken. Adding oil creates a crispy layer on untreated food and improves its taste.

I have the same problem. And the type of Philips Airfryer does not come up as an option and the wifi symbol is not on the screen of the fryer either, therefore it is not possible to connect the two, which is a bit disappointing, especially when it comes with a leaflet that advices you to pair the two devices through the nutri app.
My friend uses parchment paper in her air fryer. Can I use paper in mine?
Hi Sue, thanks for your question. We would advise not to use parchment paper for the following reasons:
1) If you cover the bottom of the basket, the airflow inside the Airfryer is reduced. This results in the diminished cooking performance of your Philips Airfryer.
2) If you put baking paper or tin foil in the bottom of the pan where the grease and dirt are collected, the airflow will be disrupted and you will not get a good cooking result.
3) If you put baking paper or tin foil in your Philips Airfryer without placing food on it, the baking paper or tin foil could be sucked into the heater and could start to burn.

How do you turn off the airfryer? I press the power button it just pauses the cooking but cant turn it off!
Hello, thanks for reaching out. By holding the power button down for several seconds, the Airfryer goes into standby mode (Do note that our Airfryers are always on when connected to the power outlet, and as such, the on/off button light is always on). I just wanted to check, are you supposed to add a little bit of oil somewhere at some point?
Hi there, using oil isn't necessary to use but you can do this if you think the food needs to be a little bit more juicy. We'd advise you not to put oil directly into the basket, pan but to use it on the food you are preparing. :-)

I just bought this air fryer but i can't turn it on. It beeped for a bit when i first plugged it in but now nothing works and the buttons are on at the front screen, please help?
Hi Viv, thanks for reaching out to us regarding your Airfryer Premium. We are sorry to hear that your appliance has not switched on correctly and hope we can help! Kindly make sure that the drawer of your Airfyrer is closed completely. If the drawer is not closed completely the pan detection switch is not deactivated and therefore device does not start heating. Check also if too many appliances are plugged into the same socket, as then your Philips Airfryer might not work. You can unplug the other appliances or use another socket. We hope these suggestions help!

Hi Simba, thanks for your message. You do not need to preheat your Philips Airfryer. You can immediately put the ingredients into the basket, without preheating. Hope that helps.
How come the temp & timer doesn't light up?

Thanks for sharing, Hannam. This model has an automatic shut-off function. If you do not press a button within 20 minutes, the appliance switches off automatically. To switch off the appliance manually, press the power On/off button. You can view the button of page 12 of the manual here to.philips/6050zrU96. Hope that helps.
My XL didn't come with a manual. Also how do I chnge it to Celcius only?

@@PhilipsHomeLiving I'm in Pakistan. I made sure to clear the app cache, delete the data and even the account and device, reset the air fryer, made sure no vpn is on, wifi perfectly connected. Still the same issue.

How to set temperature above 200? It's only going till 200

How to dehydrate ?
Hi Camille, thanks for your comment. To dehydrate food, follow these steps:
- Cut the food into thin slices and arrange them in a single layer on the Airfryer basket.
- Set the temperature to 60°C and the time to 4 hours. You can adjust the time depending on the type and thickness of the food.
- Check the food every hour and flip the slices if needed.
- When the food is dry and crisp, turn off the Airfryer and let the food cool down before storing it in an airtight container.
