    Air Fryer Whole Chicken Tandoori - using the Philips HD9270 Air Fryer

    I use a Philips Misty Dawn air fryer (HD9218/31) which has a food basket capacity of 0.8kg (800g/1.76lbs). Its rapid air technology is very efficient. When I cook pieces of chicken with skin on (usually a whole leg, ie drumstick & thigh), I place them with the surface that has more skin side down. This means more melted fat draining into the well and less fat being scattered all around the interior by the fan.
    Yesterday, I cooked half of a small marinaded chicken (552g/1.2lbs) with skin on -- not this recipe -- and placed it with the rib portion facing up (following my rule of thumb for side with more skin to face down). This had the happy consequence of driving the liquid within the chicken down to the fleshy side, keeping the breast meat hydrated for longer, before being flipped.
    I cooked 15 mins each side without pre-heating at approx 183C -- losing maybe up to 1.5 mins in cook time when it was time to flip because my longest tongs on hand (entirely silicone) couldn't grip the chicken well enough to turn it [eta: because of its weight]. I didn't think of that when I put the chicken in cold by the drumstick with my hand. The hot chicken took some manoeuvering around the basket with the tongs to get it to flip and be in the middle of the basket, lol.
    Nevertheless, the chicken came out very crispy in the skin, extremely juicy, with juices still on the plate after 10 mins of rest. The succulent flesh -- firm, not shredding -- came cleanly off the bones; the joints came cleanly out of sockets; and the joint cartiledge was easily chewed.
    I hope I have this same happy experience when I try this tandoori recipe. I'm not one for liking chili peppers or Indian spices in my roasts or air-fries. Only in curries. But an air-fried tandoori chicken is definitely on my bucket-list! Thank you The Food Wonderer for your tutorials here and in other videos. 👍

    Thanks about this. It would be nice to know how much chicken weight and was it in 32 + 10min and was it very well done or well done after all? Thanks for advantage.

    Everything I've cooked in this unit has come out great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB ! Everything tastes so good. Some of the recipes I've changed a little to improve the taste. For instance, for french fries which call for no oil, I spray them with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper. They come out great! It makes the best toast I have ever eaten. The recipe I use calls for lightly buttering both sides of the bread. It calls for cooking at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on one side and then 2 minutes on the other side. This time has a lot to do with the kind of bread you are using...so keep an eye on it. Also, the fans in this Ninja are a lot stronger than other air fryers. So lay a metal spoon or something on the bread to keep it from flying around. It's a little extra work to use your Ninja as a toaster but it is worth it!

    Great video. Did you cut away the skin ?

    • @1GuyinHisKitchen
      @1GuyinHisKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I didn't. Usually all tandoori removes the skin. But for my case today, I didn't, because I wanted to keep the meat a bit more moist. It's up to yourself though on this. I like crunchy skin. :-)

    Hi wanted seek yr advice . Can we airfry small items ie peanuts or anchovies?

    • @1GuyinHisKitchen
      @1GuyinHisKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think can, need to get one of the metal sieve net and use that to hold the items when air frying. Actually really my opinion only.. ikan bilis air fry wont taste nice, it needs oil.. Kacang maybe can.. but even then for kacang, just dry fry on a pan or pot is easier and faster

    What is the weight of the chicken?

    • @1GuyinHisKitchen
      @1GuyinHisKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This one I used was about 1.4kg.. but don't need to worry too much about it. Just buy a chicken that would fit inside the air fryer with some space for air circulation.

    O my goodness that chicken is near cremation. Why did you cut into the skin and meat? Al the nice juices dripping out and leave it like cork.

    • @ruthx3346
      @ruthx3346 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an assumption, isn't it? I've never found that scoring chicken leaves it like cork when cooked.

      As Asians we love our meat to be nicely seasoned hence the slits so flavours go deep through it. The darkened colour is because of the chilli spices. All that gives tons of flavor!
