How was there less panic building this than making an ordinary dish.
There was probably a lot of panic, but they compressed 3 hours into 17 minutes. Some tough decisions were made on the cutting room floor
3 hours + 3 people instead of 1 person per dish(es) &/or 10 minutes per person.
Remembering that Barry is a 35 year old dad always makes me feel like I suddenly stepped off a curb.
I laughed so hard at this my dog grew concerned.
Also, you're not wrong.

It’s laughable how hilariously ironic it is that the outcome of the badge competition awarded Barry with the title of ‘Sous Chef’, insinuating he’s the most capable of all the normals, yet he’s known for having limited mental capabilities that includes the inability to perform basic mental mathematics 😂
I love how barry treated this as an architect would 😂
That would have been his other dream job !

Barry going into architect mode is amazing. I was not expecting him to suddenly be drawing up diagrams and planning.
The boys did a great job! Really creative and woah at that 3D design by Barry. The maths, the ratios, the ruler! My only regret is that Kush didn't appear at the end with his own version which would obviously have been IMMACULATE.
Right? I was hoping they were going to do a, “and this is what we made,” moment

Found this channel about a fortnight ago and binged the heck out of it. As a chef myself, I love how you guys bring fun to food - a lot of the food channels around are so bland, or run by people with little interest, or skill, in cooking other than it makes them money with clickbait nonsense - such as giant Kinder eggs.
This channel is a breath of fresh air. Great work, and merry Christmas to all of you lads.
That was a fun episode. I have never done up a gingerbread house, made my morning to see 3 people attempt one. Loved the shade directed at Ben about the angles of the roof & chimney. Nice touch. ;)
ginerbread is fantastic, I make one every year from scratch and you only really need is a few simple ingredients, flour, golden syrup, brown sugar and spices! I highly recommend making one even if it's just with the box mix from Sainsbury's lol

One of my most cherished memories is when a local comic book shop owner baked a crap ton of gingerbread, and had the regulars at the shop build, well, basically a city block. I was one of the regulars. We built that block, iced it, filled the buildings with candies, the whole nine yards.
Then the entire thing (it was on a sheet of plywood) ended up at a local sci-fi con, and there was a drawing. The winner got to put on a Godzilla mask and stomp around the "city." Then everybody got to eat the remains. It was GLORIOUS!
Couldn't do that today, of course, somebody would complain about health codes or some such.

I have built massive award winning gingerbread houses. I always did general shape, then used a dremel to do final shaping and edge cleanup. Then drill small holes and run wire through to hold, then use royal icing like a caulk in the edges. Once dry, snip the wires.
Then work on the decor. Lots of different candies in unique ways. Fully edible (you wouldn't want to, but could).
As a canadian i saw the "visible sugar leaks everywhere" as a plus not a minus, no one here has perfect homes, it comes with the extreme seasons here, and many a year we have gone out to find one of these ice climbs up a wall, somehow through melting snow or condensation water gets under the under hang of the roof and builds these lines of ice down the wall that throughout the winter get bigger and bigger, making these SUPER clear or SUPER white, icicles just grown across the brick walls.

Fun episode, although I certainly have some tips on how to get your pieces the right size.
Measure the dough out and cut/score it on the baking tray, but do not remove the spill. Just as it comes out of the oven, still a little soft before cooling to room temp, cut it. This way you end up with geometric pieces that fit well together.
Idea for Pass It On: 24 hour challenge. The first two must make something that require to be overnight in the fridge, the other 2 must use that the next day. Any sort of communication in that period is not allowed. Suggested Order: Wake up time: earliest to latest
