Anything with a high smoke point is preferable- I tend to go with avocado oil

Whatever you like 😂 you certainly don't need to buy special seasoning oil.

      Use clarified butter or lard.

Some would say if you are cooking with high enough heat to burn oil that you don't know how to cook. Stay away from those poisonous oils. Avocado oil is produced by chemical extraction.

I love these griddles, nothing like being able to make a breakfast burrito, or a full ass breakfast, without dirtying up every gosh darn pan and dish in your house and having to heat up the house with an oven or stink the place up with greasy bacon aroma lol. these things are bad ass... oh and not to mention being able to make tacos on this shit, bad ass!

I used good ol' Crisco - 3 light coats, letting it burn off between coats. Then i did one coat of coconut oil. Now, i just use a little squirt of water on the sticky spots once my grill has cooled a bit, scrape it off, paper towel off the mess, and a light coat of veg oil to store it for the next time.

Instructions say turn on high, when hot coat with a thin coat of oil/fat until it stops smoking. Repeat 3-5 times. Griddle needs to turn dark brown/black. Scrape burnt oil/fat off thru slot in back into catch can. Turn griddle off after coating one last time with oil to prevent rust.
I used a paper towel folded 3-4 times, squeezed olive oil onto one surface of towel, placed on hot griddle, then used a spatula edge to wipe oil all over surface. You'll have to reposition the edge on back of folded towel to keep oil wiping onto surface. I refolded same towel each time I coated surface.

Too much oil, use scraper tool (looks like extra wide putty knife) and scrape as much excess as you can into rear slot into catch can.
Fold a paper towel 3-4 times, add oil to one side, lay on hot griddle and wiping over entire surface, use spatula edge to control towel. When griddle stops smoking, scrape again, coat again, turn off burners, when cooled down cover surface and it's ready for next use.
